Anyways I notice when going to work early morning my Chevy Trailblazer (Who I named Old Faithful) was reving really hard. I had contact my relative and she sent me to Midas In Eden Prairie, MN. Boy DID I MAKE A BIG MISTAKE. Midas told me I had to replace a whole cylinder head!! IT was gonna cost me $6k!! That is like a good used car! On top of that they we're inspecting other parts of the car that was not necessary! Unfortunately, I had to pay $122 for the diagnostic but I by change had contacted on Craig's List another Mechanic who referred me to Erik. I had told Erick and he himself was shocked at my story! He new Midas was BS-ing and I went to him. My engine was still fine! I just needed new spark plugs which he believed Midas technicians damage by pulling it out the improper way and new great quality coils which I should have don vs buying from Ebay. I took my 1992 f150 here because it was leaking transmission fluid and stuck in 3rd gear, also…read morestalling when you put it in gear since I bought it (a few months earlier). I told them that it might be leaking from the front main seal of the transmission (transmission fluid seen on bell housing). I asked if they could diagnose the stuck in 3rd gear issue and the stalling and how much the leak would cost to fix. They called me the next day and told me I needed a full transmission rebuild. Said it was stuck in 3rd gear because my transmission was shot and stalling because of leaks within the transmission. They also told me it was leaking out of the front main seal or pump seal. I had to pay them over $120 to "diagnose" these problems and they said it would be 3-4 thousand dollars to fix. Also the guy running the shop told me he has worked on trucks like mine for over 30 years. I later figured out that my trucks computer was bad and when I replaced it, it started shifting fine and no longer was stalling. I took it to TSI transmission in golden valley for the front main seal only to find out that it was just a bad pan gasket leak. $180 later I got no tranny leak. No shifting problems and no stalling. I almost got ripped off for 3,000 dollars. Do your own work and your own research. Can't trust many shops anymore.

First, they told me that the diagnostic was free (the dealer wanted $175). Then, they explained the two possibilities related to the engine rattle. Next, they gave me a freshly cleaned Prius loaner to use while they did their thing. Finally, after performing the diagnostic and not finding anything, they returned the car at no charge. They refused to take payment for the diagnostic. Their customer-centric approach to car repair is unique in my experience. I wish I would have found them years ago.
