took car in for oil change. came back and said battery was bad and showed signs of leakage. they wanted to replace it right there. I declined as I had just purchased the battery 3 months ago. Took my battery back to Costco where is bought it and had it tested and it was brand new and good. The associate at Costco also pointed out the sticker that says the battery is non leaking. On top of that when I opened my hood to get my info off the battery, I noticed they broke my plastic piece just under my hood and didn't tell me. I know it was them because just before I took my car that day I check my wiper fluid and it wasn't broken. Just felt shady as I was listening to them talk to another lady that was sitting beside me telling her more and more things needing to be repaired. Will never go there again. read more

Had an oil leak repaired at Midas with oil change. Started having crazy oil consumption. Took back multiple times to Midas and they insisted it was an issue with Ka's. I took it to my Kia dealer and they informed me it was a damaged oil pan and it was damaged during an oil change. I've only taken my car to Midas for any repairs. Took back to Midas and they said it wasn't damaged. Took it back AGAIN and a different manager at Midas said it was damaged and someone tried to seal the crack. Had to pay $400 in repairs for their technician damaging the pan. Now still having high oil consumption. I am at my wits end and in deep with so much money putting into a car that I didn't damage. TERRIBLE SERVICE!!! Do not come here!!! This used to be my absolute favorite place to take my car for about 10 years. Dylan was the GM and he always took care of me with a positive attitude and I looked forward to having work done on my cars. Since he's left this place has gone down the toilet. They barely welcome you when you walk in! On top of that? I had $2K worth of services done on my vehicle and get a call the next day to let me know they FORGOT to put in the air filter I already paid $70 for... are you kidding me?? Despite my relatives being helpful and referring me to this place; I felt this place was ripping me off!! I have a 2002 Chevy Trailblazer LT that I bought Brand new and did my best for preventative maintenance and repair and they tell me my cylinder head was shot and was gonna cost me $6 grand! On top of that other problems of my car which they should have never checked. I only give them 1 star for at least giving me a old 1995 White Saturn as a Loaner CAR but I think even that I had to pay for gas. Next to $122 diagnostic. Now coming from Chicago, IL and settling here I would of think they would be reasonable but it looks like they wanted to make a sucker out of me. And as an insult the owner Mike suggest I should sell it to his mechanics who diagnose it to sell it for him for $200. Unbelievable! I do not suggest to take your car here if it is old yet well maintained. Please stay away from this Midas as I feel they we're about to swindle me and I play victim. Got a 2nd opinion from another mechanic and only paid $400 and found out nothing was wrong except they could have damaged the spark plugs from who they improperly puled it out. Thank goodness I got it fix and did not have to spend $6k nor sell it to his Mechanic for $200 for him to fix easily for his family. read more

1/6/2014 Update: A couple weeks after I posted this review, I received a call from the Midas in Deephaven (the Midas that had ended up replacing my battery after I went running scared from EP). Turns out the Deephaven Midas and the EP Midas are owned by the same people. They had seen this review and apologized for my poor experience with the Eden Prairie Midas and they offered me a free oil change. They said EP is really good and that I should give them another try to see if I might change my mind about them but I said after my experience I didn't think I could ever trust them again though I do trust Deephaven. I told them I would update this review but my opinion of their EP location stayed the same. Clearly there are issues in the EP location that need to be taken care of. The whole situation just stinks to high heaven, especially the fact that they have no record of me being at the EP location for a car estimate to begin with. I like the Deephaven location very much and trust them completely but they very much need to have a better handle on their Eden Prairie shop./end update These guys are crooks when it comes to a young woman looking for a battery change. We recently had a long cold snap there in Minnesota when my car completely failed to start (I own a 2003 Ford Focus). It had all the signs of a dead battery but I hadn't left my lights on. I got it running fine by jumping it but it died two more times in the next 24 hours. I figured I needed to get the battery replaced since I hadn't replaced it since I bought the car and it was so bitterly cold for so long it probably snapped. I ended up trying this place since my parents had a very good relationship with a Midas in Deephaven and it was close to my work. I called ahead to make an appointment at 5:15 that day. I arrived and everyone was courteous enough telling me they will run some quick tests on my car's starting ability (I just wanted them to replace the battery). I ended up waiting 50 minutes for the results and they were only given to me when I stepped up to the counter and made my presence know. I don't know how long they had the results for but 50 minutes for a simple bunch of tests after I had called ahead (even if it was at the end of the day) seems excessive. Anyway, they told me what I already suspected that my battery needed replacement. Ok-- I figured that. What I didn't figure was that they said my alternator also needed to be replaced. For battery, serpentine belt, and alternator replacement and an oil change (I never asked for an oil change or serpentine belt replacement, they just threw them in there), the estimate was $950! this included labor and parts according to them. The price tag threw me. I don't know too much about cars but even to me that sounded ridiculous. They wanted to charge me $330 for the alternator part alone. I asked if I could simply get the battery replaced and think about the alternator. The guy said it wouldn't matter, if the alternator is bad a new battery wouldn't help and I should get it all done in one go. Well, I got the hell out of there angry that they wasted my time and tried to obviously over charge me. The kicker is that when I went to the Midas in Deephaven that knew my family and was a shop we knew we could trust, they tested my alternator and said it was perfectly fine. They said the issues I was having was 100% the fault of my battery being dead. They replaced my battery and gave me an oil change (this one I actually asked for) for only $175 (their battery replacement cost $20 less than the Eden Prairie Midas). So buyer beware of this Midas especially if you are a woman. I don't know if their testing machine was out of whack or they flat out lied to me but either way they seem like bad news and I would recommend avoiding them like the plague. read more

Amazing! I was going here just for the oil change, though they did the general inspection of my Chevy van for free, showed what issues they found and explained what should be done and why! After I opened the hood I found out that they filled up the tank for the coolant and the tank with the fluid for windshield wipers, and they didn't charge me for that! I asked to check why the tank for the coolant is going dry that fast and they found the reason pretty fast, it was a simple fix for them but still they didn't ask for additional charges. And last thing to mention, they had appointments for the whole day but I needed to fix everything until tomorrow and they found the time! I left the car for them and in an hour or two they gave me a call and everything was done. The prices here were pretty good and I'm totally satisfied. Strongly recommend! read more

We brought in our car a couple weeks ago because one of the wheels was making a grinding sound. They determined that it was a bearing. I also asked them to take a look at the brakes because they were squeaking and all of these noises were driving my wife mad. We were quoted a reasonable price and they did the work for us. Halfway through the day I received a call from Steve. He told me that they had broken an ABS sensor while doing the work. Steve explained what happened and replaced the sensor. I've done business with many mechanics who would have simply lied to me by saying that the sensor was broken before they started the work and making me pay to replace it. Steve was honest with me and replaced the sensor free of charge. Once we got the car home, it drove like a charm. Unfortunately, a week or two later the dashboard lit up with warning lights about ABS, AWD, and traction control. The new manager, Dylan (or Dillon?) asked me to bring it in so they could take a look. They fixed the connection to the sensor and everything looked fine. The next day the lights came back. I had to bring the car in three more times to get to the bottom of the problem. I didn't have a problem with this because I understand that these situations happen from time to time. Besides, Dylan and his crew were so good to me. They even provided a loaner vehicle. It wasn't a luxury car, but it got me to work and back. It turned out that the bearing on the other front wheel was the culprit (and probably was all along). Because it was misdiagnosed the first time (under the previous management), Dylan took care of it without batting an eye and turned what could been a major fiasco into a good experience. Despite changing management in between visits and a problem that was very hard to track down, the folks at Midas took care of me and showed me how much I'm valued as a customer. They have really earned my business in the future. If you need any auto work in Eden Prairie, I'd highly recommend the folks at Midas. They do great word will treat you fairly. read more

I would give 0 stars if it were an option. I took my car in for squeaky brakes and for an oil change and not only did they have my car the whole day but they didn't even get the oil changed. They also gave a long list of things that "had" to get done equaling $3500. They didn't want me to drive away saying my breaks were questionable and not safe. I decided to get a 2nd opinion and took it to the dealership to get serviced. The dealership found no faulty componants stated as "critical" by Midas. I walked out of there for $57 for an oil change and all that needed done was to clean the brakes off. Being a woman and having to deal with dishonest guys in the auto industry is so frustrating. Don't go here unless you want to be taken advantage of. Not only did you lose my business but you have lost multiple friends and family who have come to you before. read more

STAY AWAY. They will take advantage of you. I have built multiple jeeps so I know my way around my vehicles. Look it to Midas for an alignment sale because it was quick and easy and saved me an hour. They quoted me $3200 for extra parts and said they can't do the alignment because of it. First off. Scam someone else... I know these parts don't need repair because they are a month old (quality lift kit suspension). I asked him what's wrong with them, he said they were "loose". Haha I said show me and he said he can't do that because he's not the technician on the ticket and the tech that could show me left for the day... very convienant. I looked at their invoice of $3200 and say that they charged $569 for two ball joints. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? I installed top of the line off-roading DANA-17 ball joints which are way better quality than the synergy joints they install, and the top quality joints I bought were $120 for both.... where are they getting these numbers!? Stay away. Every part they estimated was at least $300 OVER the cost of the top brand on amazon or a local off-road shop. Mopar dealerships don't even charge that much. Either those parts were solid gold or they tried to pull a quick one on me because I'm young. Even if all those parts needed replacing, I could replace with the best brands available for $550, yet they want $3200. STAY AWAY or you WILL be taken advantage of. read more

I have been using the Midas EP location for over 10 years now and they have always taken great care of me. I have a difficult time with dentists and mechanics as I don't know enough to trust what they are telling me. I trust these guys and feel comfortable that I am getting a fair to good price for great work. My current vehicle has 170,000 miles on it and I have only used these guys to take care of it. I have spent enough hours in their waiting room to see how they take care of their other customers and don't feel like they treat me any different than others. They treat them all well. I called them about 655am this morning as my wife's wiper broke last night and asked if she could stop in in the next 10 minutes. She called me right after and said she was out of there in 2 minutes and she could see why I liked this place so much. The staff is consistent with minimal turnover.
