I really like this store but GRDN is breeding a MOSQUITO INFESTATION. On our latest visit, we walked in, went to the backyard, looked at a single rosemary plant, and left with SEVEN mosquito bites. I'm not sure if I'm allergic to the particular species that's infested GRDN but each and all of these bites have grown enormous and are crazily itchy. We don't plan to swing by again until winter. read more

They carry seedling supplies (soil-less medium, trays, etc.) and seeds at prices competitive with anyone else, regardless of what else they sell. I wanted organic and heirloom seeds, and they carry Hudson Valley Seed Library and Seed Savers Exchange seeds. The employees do not come out to greet you or ask you if you need help, but if you ask THEM questions, they are very lively and responsive. I think other reviewers might have confused a hands-off approach with being rude. Also, once it's warmer out, they have plenty of starts in the back garden. I don't know how a place with this name could NOT sell any seeds or seedlings! All I saw were mediocre flowers, candles, teas and soaps. Sure it smelled delicious in there and the lady/owner is super sweet, but I was pretty disappointed by the hodgepodge of overpriced crap. Also, not much info on their website so you might want to call before heading over there if you want to buy something specific. Meh. read more

Lydia and the other people at GRDN did a terrific job on our wedding flowers. We had very specific flowers that we wanted in the boutonnieres and the centerpieces at the reception but had only nebulous ideas on how those centerpieces would be displayed. Lydia listened to all of our ideas and responded promptly when we would send her photos of centerpieces that had elements that we liked. The centerpieces and boutonnieres she came up with were fresh and beautiful and were such a hit with our guests that most of the centerpieces went home with them - (with our permission!) The people at GRDN are friendly and talented and I would definitely use them again. read more

If I could give 0 stars, I would. My boyfriend bought me a Valentine's Day bouquet here. When he placed the order, he had told the staff that I didn't like roses and anything ordinary. She gushed saying they don't make any ordinary bouquets at GRDN. She then asked red theme for Valentine's Day or spring. He chose red. He brought them home today a few days early bc we are going on vacation on Sunday and he wanted me to be able to enjoy them for me than one day. I happily accepted the flowers but deep down I was appalled. My first thought was are these for someone's Jewish grandmother or something? First of all there were roses in the bouquet but worst of all they were this horrible russet reddish brown color! Mixed in with that we're some ORDINARY red tulips I could have gotten from the deli across the street, eucalyptus springs interspersed sparingly. Oh and please don't let me forget the 4 fuchsia poppies and sprig of pink carnations. The color combination was awful. Even my boyfriend mentioned he had expected a little more. He even apologized when he gave them to me! Do not go to this store if you are looking for a bouquet to give as a present. You and the recipient will both be disappointed and you will have wasted a lot of money. read more

I love GRDN. Susanne carries so many great plants and products. Prices are very fair in this small well-curated store. The staff is friendly but not overbearing. I always feel happy to look around and get great ideas for gifts. I rarely leave empty handed. I'm thankful to have such a great resource in my neighborhood. read more

GRDN is a Brooklyn gem -- Suzanne has incredible taste and I always end up finding something special when I come here. We had a hard time picking plants for a shadier window box and she patiently helped us choose a beautiful combination of plants. Worth a visit for her expertise and style alone. i love GRDN! it is my go to shoppe for personalized service, warm welcomes, and lots of great, unique merchandise to choose from. the owner is very knowledgable about soil, plants, flowers, grass, seeds... everything green. and if she doesn't know, she says so! the back garden makes me green with envy... my dream outdoor space. i think the folks at GRDN have good taste, great eyes, and a superior collection of goods. read more

This place is GREAT! I decided to write a review, because I cannot believe they got any bad ones! I live in WIlliamsburg and I travel all the way here to shop for my home and garden. The staff is so sweet and inviting and they know my name and know what kind of items I love. They are helpful and knowledgeable and available to me whenever I have a question. I've even called in a few times and asked questions and they told me everything I needed to know. I am sure there was a misunderstanding with customers that gave a bad review....The best part of the store is the selection of fresh cut flowers. the staff has been SO helpful and creative in assisting me in making arrangements that my friends still compliment me on. I would suggest this store to anyone who likes great products and a helpful staff. And for those of you who think they have a paltry selection.....JUST ASK them for what you are looking for and I am sure they would be happy to deliver it...along with a smile :) read more

This store is absolutely beautiful. Through the years, I've bought tons of gifts, herbs, potted plants and truly unique cut flowers. I just had my wedding arrangements done here and they were amazing-I received soooo many compliments and all the photos of them look like they should be in a magazine. Every time I walk inside I wish it were my home-it's styled so well. The staff is super and really helpful. I'd def pop in and check it out! read more

GRDN did wildflower arrangements for my wedding. The arrangements were simultaneously understated and stunning--without being gaudy they were eye-catching, strikingly beautiful and extremely interesting to look at. Afterwards a number of people took them home (in the hours after the wedding guests were spotted carrying them around Brooklyn). According to the mother of the bride who worked closely with staff, the staff followed very closely her wishes and were very accommodating. The price was well beneath the minimum that would have been charged by the venue's vendor. read more

This is one of my all time favorite shops in Brooklyn. The flowers are so beautiful and there is nothing more romantic than browsing when they get a fresh delivery. We bought our flower boxes for our front windows and owner laid out the most unusual selection of plants for us. I love them. I wish we had more shops like this in the neighborhood. read more

Beautiful store, but plant-buyer beware... two plants that I purchased here were infested with aphids. For a boutique nursery that charges more than other garden shops, you expect better quality control. If you buy a plant from here, factor in a purchase aphid spray AND putting your other plants at risk. read more

very high end florals and plants ... not your average shop. one of the best places in nyc city area. exotics, unusual botanicals and blooms and stems, pots, giftware, just about everything. but you will pay a lot of money here. be prepared: if you are used to paying a lot for these things (the giftware is outrageously priced) then fine, go there. if you aren't used to nosebleed prices, then go to a deli and grab a bouquet and do your own, which would be like comparing neiman marcus to wal-mart. read more
