Since then, our dog has both been walked on many occasions as well as stayed at John's for longer periods of time.

Hurley Veterinary Hospital - Kes enjoying her new lease on life

    Hurley Veterinary Hospital

We take our two dogs Ry and Abbi to Hurley Vet Hospital for their regular checkups and routine…read moreprocedures such as spay surgery. We have also taken them in for urgent care such as to treat "dietary indiscretion." We have always received caring, professional service, and we trust their recommendations. Prices are high, but they are high everywhere. I was skeptical of their conversion to using an online pharmacy, but I have found that the prices are comparable to what I would find if I bought the medications at other pet pharmacies online. It is convenient for me and a more efficient way for the vets to provide prescriptions. We will be staying with Hurley Vet.

I can not give ENOUGH praise for Hurley vets especially for their associate vet Dr. DANIELLE…read moreSCHAFER. My 16 year old dog, Kes, was seen by her usual vet in August for her annual. I brought their attention to an open sore on her ear flap and they put it down to her "just being old". I had tried many different treatments at home but the wound had become infected and ulcerated. Her usual vet didn't even clean away the area so they could have a proper look at it! I took her for a 2nd opinion emergency appointment to Dr. Schafer at Hurley Vets who immediately suggested that the wound needed immediate attention and possibly removal. The attentive vet tech whisked her away and took blood fron her jugular vein (last vet techs poked her 3 times and were still unable to draw blood) Dr. Schafer gave her a 2 week shot of antibiotics as I knew it would be really difficult to give her the meds orally twice a day. This alleviated so much stress for both of us. A few days later my little one had surgery to remove half of her ear. The mass result came back as cancerous. She had another growth removed from her real leg too as it was getting larger amd I aas afraid the same would happen to it. All the staff were pleasant and extremely helpful. Dr. Schafer even helped me out with transport for my little one, kept in touch with me throughout the whole experience and obviously loves animals with all her heart. She is a kind, loving, helpful, honest soul and a wonderful, compassionate, capable, super-smart vet. My little one has recovered 100% and has tons more energy now thanks to the removal of the cancer as well as being given medicine for her osteoarthritis and a supplement for her liver. She has no doubt added quality time to this little old lady's lifespan and I could not be more thankful or appreciative to Dr. Danielle Schafer.

Rhinebeck Animal Hospital - Client Appreciation Day 2019

    Rhinebeck Animal Hospital

I had such a negative experience at Community Animal Hospital - between the price gauging,…read morereceiving curses on instagram from their underpaid staff, ignorance of Dr. Redden who told me he had no idea what kind of food to give a cat for kidney disease and told me to perform primary research after verbally abusing me (I was told this is his usual demeanor), I was apprehensive with this animal hospital. Talk about a new world! For the first time, my cat wasn't feral in the foyer or with any of the vets and staff at Rhinebeck Animal Hospital. The level of caring, compassion, knowledge, and experience by every one of the staff at Rhinebeck Animal Hospital is stellar. I realized what a sh*tshow Community Animal Hospital is in comparison! Customarily, my cat has to be sedated and contrary to Community Animal Hospital, it didn't take 1-2 days but 1-2 hours to recover. There's a lot more, especially paying 67% less on fees - the estimates were right on target unlike Community Animal Hospital which changes estimates on a whim. Most importantly, I was informed that my cat's lab work revealed a reversal of his kidney disease in the one year since he's been a patient at Rhinebeck Animal Hospital. That's not only a miracle, but a testimony to them!

Dr. Relyea is a decent and skilled veterinarian. She is understanding, and generally compassionate…read more It is essentially the support staff. There is an attitude. The hospital is busy, very busy, and TOO busy to follow through on personalized care. While it may be a goal of theirs, they fall short of providing timely care. There are not enough providers locally, so it is not all on them, but they dropped the ball, big time, after about $2000 in supervised care over a three week period, she was TOO BUSY to euthanize him. It would have been an emergency visit, but IT WAS AN EMERGENCY. I ended up having to have him evaluated, with an appointment as a new client, at a totally different veterinarian. It was disappointing to have to go though this way, but in the end Community Animal Care, on Titusville Rd. Poughkeepsie, NY 12601, did an amazing job. Melissa Pellesz, the owner, ended up taking care of it personally, and gave a completely personalized feel to the experience.
