    Patty's Pet Palace

Patty and her Pet Palace were an absolute blessing to my three cats and myself. My kitties stayed…read morethere for about two months, while I was dealing with a bunch of health issues in another state. Her safety and cleanliness standards are very high, so I knew they would be well taken care of, I just didn't know how much! Patty ended up falling in love with my little trio. She sent me pictures of them, and long emails about how each was doing. The maximum amount of cats is 4, so they were nearly always the only cats there, and thus got extra space to roam. My oldest cat gets apple cider vinegar and chicken broth every day for upper respiratory congestion, and Patty made little frozen cubes of the mixture, so that none of the broth would go bad. But wait, there's more! Like I said, I was in one state, all my doc appts were in another, Patty is in NY, and my next stop was moving to Colorado. I hired a transportation company to move my animals, and when communication went south with them and my stress level was soaring because I was literally in back-to-back appointments most days, trying to find a Vet who could come to Patty's and write my cats a Travel Health Certificate each and getting no where, Patty stepped right up, and handled everything. She made a Vet appt, brought all my cats to the Vet, sent me pictures of the Certificates, and even dealt with unpleasant emails from the travel company. Literally, all I had to do was pay the Vet over the phone. It was incredible and such an enormous relief. I would recommend Patty and her Palace to anyone, without hesitation.

Rhinebeck Animal Hospital - Client Appreciation Day 2019

Talk about a new world! For the first time, my cat wasn't feral in the foyer or with any of the vets and staff at Rhinebeck Animal Hospital. The level of caring, compassion, knowledge, and experience by every one of the staff at Rhinebeck Animal Hospital is stellar. I realized what a sh*tshow Community Animal Hospital is in comparison! Customarily, my cat has to be sedated and contrary to Community Animal Hospital, it didn't take 1-2 days but 1-2 hours to recover. There's a lot more, especially paying 67% less on fees - the estimates were right on target unlike Community Animal Hospital which changes estimates on a whim. Most importantly, I was informed that my cat's lab work revealed a reversal of his kidney disease in the one year since he's been a patient at Rhinebeck Animal Hospital. That's not only a miracle, but a testimony to them!

The reception staff has noticeably become less friendly, and I've been waiting nearly two weeks for an important return call--with no response. Unfortunately, I've decided to move to a different vet. If you're considering this as your primary veterinary clinic, I'd urge you to factor in the long wait times (even during emergencies) and the inconsistent level of service. While many of the vets are excellent, not all are, and the overall experience has left me very disappointed.

Hurley Veterinary Hospital - Kes enjoying her new lease on life

We have also taken them in for urgent care such as to treat "dietary indiscretion." We have always received caring, professional service, and we trust their recommendations. Prices are high, but they are high everywhere. I was skeptical of their conversion to using an online pharmacy, but I have found that the prices are comparable to what I would find if I bought the medications at other pet pharmacies online. It is convenient for me and a more efficient way for the vets to provide prescriptions. We will be staying with Hurley Vet.

I can not give ENOUGH praise for Hurley vets especially for their associate vet Dr. DANIELLE…read moreSCHAFER. My 16 year old dog, Kes, was seen by her usual vet in August for her annual. I brought their attention to an open sore on her ear flap and they put it down to her "just being old". I had tried many different treatments at home but the wound had become infected and ulcerated. Her usual vet didn't even clean away the area so they could have a proper look at it! I took her for a 2nd opinion emergency appointment to Dr. Schafer at Hurley Vets who immediately suggested that the wound needed immediate attention and possibly removal. The attentive vet tech whisked her away and took blood fron her jugular vein (last vet techs poked her 3 times and were still unable to draw blood) Dr. Schafer gave her a 2 week shot of antibiotics as I knew it would be really difficult to give her the meds orally twice a day. This alleviated so much stress for both of us. A few days later my little one had surgery to remove half of her ear. The mass result came back as cancerous. She had another growth removed from her real leg too as it was getting larger amd I aas afraid the same would happen to it. All the staff were pleasant and extremely helpful. Dr. Schafer even helped me out with transport for my little one, kept in touch with me throughout the whole experience and obviously loves animals with all her heart. She is a kind, loving, helpful, honest soul and a wonderful, compassionate, capable, super-smart vet. My little one has recovered 100% and has tons more energy now thanks to the removal of the cancer as well as being given medicine for her osteoarthritis and a supplement for her liver. She has no doubt added quality time to this little old lady's lifespan and I could not be more thankful or appreciative to Dr. Danielle Schafer.

She's a work in progress, but it's amazing how far she has come in such a short time. Polly's virtual training program that she established during these unprecedented times has been TERRIFIC! We meet each week on a one-hour Zoom call where we go over questions, concerns, and plans for the week. She does training demonstrations with her dog and I get an assignment for the week. I send Polly videos of our progress, and she lets me know how I'm doing and if I need to tweak anything a little, then we go over it in detail on our Zoom call. I love this method of training and Polly is always so supportive and encouraging. It's like a little therapy session sometimes! If you are willing to put in the time using her fun-filled training methods and truly want to understand and enjoy your dog, then you won't be sorry!
