I had a consult with Gehlan prior to my appointment where I discussed I wanted highlights to compliment my natural haircolor and a cut. I booked my appointment the next week and arrived at 2:00 pm and left at 5:29 pm. At no time during my time in the chair did he discuss he was going off our prior discussion and doing creative coloring. When he began to blow dry my hair he turned the chair sideways so I couldn't see the cut or color in the mirror, generally in the past my stylists have had me face the mirror so I could see the color. When I asked him to turn my chair so I could see the color he obliged me and did that. When I said I wasn't sure about the color because the roots were dark he told me to sit down and be quiet - hmm, not a great response. When after 3.5 hours I left to pay the bill I was shocked to see, I was charged for long hair, my hair is at my shoulders, for highlights, for creative color and one additional color. The bill was broken out to $155 Long - Full highlight, 1 creative color $50, 1 women's cut $60, cleaning and disinfecting $7.95 and 1 Color $36.64 totaling $312.50. It's been 3 weeks and my hair looks like it needs to be highlighted again because the roots are so dark. I can't recommend Salon Heather or Gehlan and 3.5 hours is way too long in my opinion for the services I requested.

She provided a trial for me before hand so I could make sure it was what I pictured and she knocked it out of the park. With 8 girls that needed to get ready for pictures, she brought along a second stylist (Kayla) for day of and they both worked seamlessly together with all style requests and types of hair. I visited this shop 6 times. The first 3 visits with one stylist ended when she made a major…read moremistake and I had to request a correction. She no longer would do my hair, indicating that I was too particular and she feared she could not please me so she referred me to another stylist. This was insulting but I did schedule the correction with the 2nd stylist who explained the error made by the first stylist and how she could fix it. Even though Stylist 1 made the mistake which was clearly conveyed by Stylist 2, I decided to let the 1st stylist off the hook and paid for a consult rather than a correction because there was nothing the 2nd stylist could do to fix it at that moment anyway and I didn't want any awkward encounters going forward. After 3 visits with Stylist 2, my hair was 'fixed' and we were humming along. However, when I attempted to schedule my 7th visit, the salon said they were increasing my fees to a full custom color rather than the partial foil (the same partial foil I'd received in the prior 6 visits). I argued that neither the process nor the time involved had changed and I saw no reason to increase my already top tier fee but they would rather lose a client than continue to do my hair. I'm really disappointed because my hair was getting really good and I was excited for the next visit but they rescheduled two appointments and then sprang the price increase on me with the third call...and that was the last straw. Their response was "we understand your decision". You understand my decision? I'm sure you do...I don't imagine you have too many clients happy about a price increase when they're already paying more then they ever did for the service you're providing. Good luck with that.

I made an appointment for a consult and met the fabulous Rachel. From the moment I chatted with her, I trusted her implicitly. She understood my concerns, my hopes, and -- most importantly -- my hair. She was one of the warmest people I had ever met and our rapport was immediate. Since that time, I have come to know more about this young, brilliant stylist. She is gracious, effervescent, gentle, and interesting. I persuaded my husband -- who hadn't been to a stylist in about six decades -- to come with me and have Rachel cut his hair. He said that he now knew what I'd been raving about for months. Beyond Rachel, the salon is wonderful. They recently moved into new and upscaled quarters. It is contemporary and sleek, yet exudes a warm welcome; it is open and bright, and yet gives a feeling of privacy in each stylist's space; it is softly-scented, evoking a mood of calm and serenity, and yet there is enough bustle and enthusiastic conversation to highlight the camaraderie between stylist and client. Deseo is eco-conscious -- a place where sustainabillity feels indulgent, not austere! Being there is a restorative experience. The front desk staff is outstanding, too. On a very personal note, I want to share two quick stories. One day I arrived at my appointment and was suddenly called to a family member's medical emergency. Despite their policy about cancelled appointments, they understood, didn't charge me, and told me to take my time and that I could rebook whenever I wished. The first time my husband accompanied me, he was offered -- as is everyone upon entering -- a beverage. He requested decaf coffee which they did not have. Yesterday, on his second visit, the lovely receptionist told him that she had ordered decaf specifically because he had asked for it on his first visit. For someone to go above and beyond based on the "need" of one customer is a sign of the caring that this salon exhibits. I cannot say enough good things about Deseo. Go here! Relax here! Enjoy here!
