Grater Grilled Cheese was a great spot for a guilty pleasure during dinner. I went here close to 6:30 pm on a weekday. Parking lot is a shared lot with other businesses and was busy at the time. Once it came to ordering, there is a kiosk in the store. I ordered two grilled cheese sandwiches - one lobster (I forgot the other one), grater fries, and tomato basil soup. Both sandwiches were solid options and VERY CHEESY. Each sandwich has its own pickles. The fries were crispy and good. The tomato soup was a good dip for both the sandwich and fries. We did happen to go on a weekend so the area is bustling with customers as there are a couple of other vendors and food around the plaza. But overall, worth the trip to grab a really niche craving! Grater Grilled Cheese caught my attention when I was on the plaza for other reasons. Who can say no to grilled cheese after all? So, of course, I had to stop by. The place itself is fine. Clean, friendly, simple. I tried their chicken grilled cheese pesto sammich, and it was really tasty solid sandwich, well made, no complaints about the flavor. But here's the problem... As tasty as the sandwich was, I just don't see how this place can survive long-term. Once you're done paying tax and tip, you're easily at $20 for a sandwich and that's without sides. The portions aren't that big either, so if you actually want to feel full, you'll end up spending $25-30 for just a sandwich and a pickle. Ehh no thanks. Include a side dish at least for that price. At that point, I'd rather just sit down at a proper restaurant and get a full plate of food. So yeah, it's good if you're craving a grilled cheese once in a while, but I don't see myself becoming a regular. You make your own call. read more

Omg I have never had such good patty melts until I tried out Grater. I found them on DoorDash and wasn't expecting much when I ordered. I loved every single bite of what I ordered. I didn't think I had it in me to devour two sandwiches and soup all in one sitting by myself. Everything was just THAT good tasting. We ordered the Lobster Grilled Cheese and the Philly Grilled Cheese with a side of fries. When I went to go find a table, I wasn't satisfied with the table seating. Seats could use a little TLC and the dining area is a bit too intimate for my liking, so we settled to sit on the bar stools, close to the register which can be uncomfortable. Came here on Saturday with 2 kids. They shared a "5-Cheese" special, and I had the pastrami, and we split an order of sweet potato tots. It was a disappointment all the way around. The kids 5-cheese was decent, indeed the highlight. The pastrami was thin with little meat. The sweet potato tots were subbed for sweet potato fries without asking us. The avocado had about a tablespoon of mashed avo, 1 slice of bacon cut into smaller pieces, a MOUND of arugula (I'm guessing to bulk it up), minimal cheese, and too much sauce that made the sandwich soggy. Pork belly has a lot of toppings that made the sandwich disintegrate while you ate it. Sweet potato tots had a Thanksgiving vibe, very sweet with cinnamon, not our preference. Lots of gnats hovering over our food while we ate, and the state of the shop could use some work. For what is being charged they could probably repair the seating area. Bathroom was clean but had trouble getting the "hands free" items to work, including the water, paper towels and trash. read more

GRATE cheese place (pun intended). I had just finished the Whole30 Program, and this was the place my friends picked to have lunch. This was the best place for me to reintroduce my cheese group, and it was so perfect! We got the Avocado Grilled Cheese, Grater Fries, and a country mac to share. We were in a bit of a time crunch, and it was ready in less than 10 minutes. It was more than enough food to cram down in less than 30 minutes so we were full and even had delicious leftovers to take home with us. Now I really love potatoes, so I have to dedicate a paragraph to their Grator Fries, which they described as "Truffle Fries w/ parmesan and parsley." It tasted just as delicious as it sounds, and 5x better. I've never had a flat circular shape for fries, but I know why they do it like this now - because it's the way to do it! All the edges were crispy and fried to have that perfect bite we're all looking for in fries. It was more equivalent to tator tots for me than fries, so I would have recommended they call it like crispy discs or tater wheels or tot rounds or something like that. The Avocado Grilled Cheese was like a BLT panini with a heavy focus on the cheese and avocado, and now I can probably never go back to regular BLT. I wanted something with veggies, and it was made just like how you'd imagine a grilled cheese sandwich to be, but again, 5x better. The bread was the star of the show for me, and had that satisfying crispy crunch you'd expect when biting into a sandwich. Their Country Mac was so creamy, made with bechamel sauce and crispy bacon bits, and everything paired together very well. The cashier was friendly, and had our food ready in less than 10 minutes and they even recognized me when I went in to check on my order and handed my tray straight to me haha! The decor was very themed in bright yellow and orange and it just made me more excited for my cheese. Such a great cheesy experience, and I'd definitely come back for a second round of cheesy goodness! read more

Really great breakfast/lunch spot if you're in the area! We got their hash brown rounds which probably was my favorite thing, I could have eaten the whole order cause I love hash browns. We also got their Bacon Morning Melt, which is a really great solid, hearty breakfast sandwich. We chose to get it with the sriracha aioli, I believe, and it was really good. Their L.A. Pastrami Grilled cheese was bomb too, I love pickles and it had pickles inside the sandwich. Good amount of pastrami too!
