I came in today and it was colder outside than inside the building I can't believe they would continue business in this heat with a broken AC and force employees to withstand the heat. Do better for your employees. Food was great I feel horrible for the chefs. read more

Lovely vinery with Mt Hood in the backdrop. Stopped by (with no reservations) during my recent trip to Hood River and this vinery is gorgeous! What amazing views of Mt Hood with the vineyards all around you. We tried their rose and it was delicious! They have indoor and outdoor seating. For the outdoor seating as well they have some covered seating and some open air picnic table seating. We wanted to enjoy the view so chose the outdoor picnic tables. Staff was polite and we had no wait time and were asked to pick whatever table we preferred. They also have a sunflower patch right next to this vineyard. Stunning location. Highly recommend if in the area to take in the views and drink some wine. read more

After a good hike, my body needs a little food and some drinks, and found this winery at the perfect location! Flight came with Riesling, Pino Grigio, Pino Rose and Pino Nor. Red is always my go to drink, but their Pino Grigio was very refreshing and served very well with think crust Pizza. We tried Pear & blue cheese with caramelized onion and crispy bacon. Also egg, arugula and some veggies. Egg comes from local firm and they baked pizza onsite, order to be made, so we ate them right after coming from the oven, was so good! And the view... imagine sitting back at your back yard, sipping a couple of glasses of wine and viewing the magnificent Mr. Hood. Breath taking and also very relaxing under afternoon sunlit. I would do another hike just to give me an excuse to come back here! read more

What a disappointment. We were excited to stop here as it seemed like a great fit for a light lunch and drinks with a view. But upon walking in to less then pleasant staff, I was already turned off before even being seated. Lukewarm reception, despite not even being busy, and their offerings are overpriced and restrictive. They do NOT sell any food, other than their pizza pies that are served only when you order a Tasting Menu. $30/per person or more, depending on which tasting you do - with 1 Pizza Pie for every 2 people. Their wines were ok. Their pizza was blah. Super salty, soggy from the toppings. With so many beautiful wineries, cideries, farms and eateries in the area - many also with great views - opt elsewhere and don't waste your time and money on this one. read more

Amazingly beautifully set vineyard with a stunning view of Mt. Hood. It's a little off the beaten path but it is WORTH IT. There wasn't any available fruit on the trees, but all of the blossoms in bloom made up for it. Very comfortable outdoor seating options either under a tent or right outside looking at the mountain in the distance. We got both the wine and cider flights (the blackberry cider is definitely a winner along with the reserve Pinot Noir) and a veggie pizza to share. The pizza was nice, plenty of toppings with a slightly charred crust. A beautiful place in a beautiful setting, who could ask for more? One of the owners was walking around and checking in on everyone as well, really sweet guy. Its a little distance from Portland, but I've heard there's a cherry stout on tap that I may have to go back and try. read more

Delicious food, good wine, and amazing views. We easily made a reservation on Open Table and had great service. Family-friendly on the patio, as we brought a 3-yr old and a 5-yr old. It's a mom and pop feel, very chill. We also loved cherry-picking in the adjacent orchard. A beautiful afternoon. read more

* I have a lot of favorite pizzas - first and foremost the Italian DOC style from Naples, but also Chicago, Detroit, New Haven, even a great chick pea crust pizza as is the specialty in Tuscany. * Grateful Vineyard served us perhaps the best pizzas I've ever had (I have not been to Naples yet!) on a nice, sunny, Sunday afternoon visit in Hood River, OR, on the Fruit Loop (lhttps://www.hoodriverfruitloop.com/). * I'll try to remember the 2 styles: 1) Pear, arugula, balsamic, bacon. 2) Pepperoni, mama lil's peppers, mushrooms, parmigiano. * You can't taste it, but in the pic, you can see the thin crust, the burnt bubbles - part of the Napoli DOC and result of a 900 degree F oven - and generously and perfectly distributed toppings. * We both had a 4 wine sampler - white/Riesling, sparkling/Spumante, rose, and red/Pinot Noir. * The service was so friendly, relatively quick, and it was not crowded at all. * The only thing to note - the 3 tier, per-person charge "set menu" format is IMPOSSIBLE to understand - your server will have to explain it, and still, you should just tell them EXACTLY what you want in terms of food and drink, and let them sort out how to charge you for it. * This was a 5 star experience for sure - come for the wine AND the pizza!!! read more

The easiest way to ruin a vineyard experience is by over regulating it. They have really ridiculous rules about where you can sit if you want food and you have to order food and drinks in their preselected pairings. Nothing a la carte. The options: $55pp 3 drinks/flights, burrata board, salad, pizza $45pp 2 drinks/flights, salad, pizza $35pp 1 drink/flight, pizza $25 kids deal, 2 drinks, cheese or pepperoni pizza If you don't drink alcohol, probably don't come here. Only NA options are root beer, cream soda, apple cider. They'll let that be one of your required drinks, but you're way overpaying for it. This place seems totally mismanaged. They have one of the best views of the mountain, they should be making a killing, but everything feels kinda cheap. Plastic mismatched seating, plastic cups, mismatched patio covers. The salad was good and the peach pizza was really delicious. Wine was kinda meh, cider was also nothing special. The "pineapple" cider had no pineapple flavor at all. It's disappointing. I feel like their location has so much potential, but it needs a complete overhaul. read more

We we went in to enjoy a pizza and wine flight on our fruit loop tour but we were told that we needed reservations maybe 20 people in the whole place and she let us know that we can go out to the little trailer outside to get the same drinks and food. Have now made the trip to this picturesque estate on two separate occasions and I am beyond impressed! Friendly, knowledgeable service, fresh inventive pizza, delectable offerings of wine and cider and million dollar view to too it off! Friends planned a minnie celebration for my 30th birthday and we had the most wonderful servers. Katrina especially completely made my evening in a moment that I embarrassed myself a little and made my group of friends a wonderful experience after months apart. This vineyard takes all covid precautions, is clean and gives groups ample space from other guests. Great for families or a trip out with friends , or even a romantic date. If you live farther out like myself, make sure to plan ahead and give yourself plenty of time to enjoy the drive as you ride to this picturesque location. By far my favorite winery and cannot wait for my next visit! read more

Came here with three girlfriends at the end of July (yes, this review is belated, don't you know that time means nothing these days) at the start of a weekend getaway. What a perfect meal to get the weekend off right! We had a reservation right as they opened, and I was so glad we did as there was quite the queue when we arrived. We were promptly seated at a table outside with the most gorgeous view of the vineyards and Mt Hood. Truly, the views here are worth the price of admission alone. However, the food & drink offerings don't disappoint. We each had a wine flight, the cost of which could be applied to a bottle to take home. The wines were delightful, so it was an easy decision to opt for a 'free' tasting and pick up a bottle to go. (I opted for the riesling - smooth, honey-scented, and not too sweet - for my mom.) We also ordered three pizzas, as we were ravenous and our server told us that three pizzas would not be too much food for four people. Spoiler alert - it was. Still, we weren't mad about taking essentially a whole pizza with us as leftovers and having it to snack on later. The pizzas were a thin-crust Neapolitan style, but a little on the oily side. The margherita was really tasty, but the star of the show was their seasonal pie with tart cherries, which was out of this world. We felt very safe there - masks were required inside, and the tables were well-spaced outside with plenty of room. My one complaint/recommendation would be to please, please get some umbrellas for the outdoor seating! It was around 90 degrees when we visited, and the sun directly overhead made us yearn for shade. The tables and chairs are metal, and metal heats up quickly, and, well... we would have gladly stayed for another glass of wine with our meal if we could have sheltered under an umbrella. If they make this change for next season I'll be a very happy camper. read more

This place was beautiful. We had a great overall experience. A few negatives then I'll get the outstanding positives. 1. We had a reservation for right when they opened. Even though all the tables were open- we were sat over on the edge- next to the bussing station and the loud open kitchen door. At any pizza joint that wouldn't have bugged me- but we had our hearts set on a romantic experience and hearing the cooks conversations wasn't on our list! 2. We were sad to learn that the wine served wasn't grown on location - but from a neighboring vineyard. (They plan to sell their own wine, but this location is new to wine I think I remember her saying!) 3. The wait staff answered our questions about wine pretty shortly and didn't give us much info/ knowledge about the wine. It wasn't a typical vineyard experience. More like a restaurant on a vineyard. 4. This is no ones fault- but it was such a cloudy day we couldn't see Mt. Hood at all GREAT THINGS: 1. Pizza was incredible. I loved the seasonal pizza with some fig/ balsamic drizzle, peaches, and tons of other stuff. It was one of the best pizzas I've ever had. Whatever their seasonal pizza is- try it. It's probably amazing! 2. Wine: we did a flight to try their four options- and then ended up getting glasses of Pinot noir. All 4 were great- the rose and Pinot noir were exceptional. 3. Wait staff was very kind. We asked to be moved 1/2 way through the meal to get away from the loud kitchen, and they obliged- and didn't make us feel bad for asking. 4. The manager gave us some stickers and business cards after having a great conversation with us about Portland and Bend. 5. THE PROPERTY: truly, a highlight of our trip out to Oregon. The dahlias were in FULL bloom in late September. The orchard was so fun to walk through- and we got to meet Carlos the steer- and feed him pears from the ground. This would be so sweet with kids! 6. Price: great price for what you get. We will be back If we're ever in town. read more

We made a reservation for our family of four as we had heard the pizza was great. Our children were not welcomed (they could sit at a picnic table in the wind and rain). Other families who were at Mt. Hood Orchards also wanted to enjoy the pizza and drinks, but this establishment is really only for adults. I wish they had been more clear about that on their website before we drove all the way out there. read more

dont come for the food. Beautiful environment, amazing setting, but the worse gluten-free pizza on the planet! These days gluten-free does not have to be disgusting, tasteless and a disappointment . the crust was like a hippie granola biscuit. What a complete waste of money for a pizza that was virtually inedible. we ate the smattering of sauce and pepperonis off the top. hardly any cheese - they skimped on that. The staff brazenly and outwardly asks for tips and I am finding that trend more and more unfavorable. Do your job, your job is to get me a beer, you did not provide any special services to me or anyone else - so get over it. you poured a beer in aplastic cup and handed it to me. Over priced and mediocre food at best but the setting is really quite stunning. read more

Grateful, could be great! But we found the exact opposite. While the website says no reservations required, if you have an 80 year old with you, or just anyone that wants to sit in the shade... you have to make a reservation and do the food pairing or stare at the wall and not see the beautiful view of Mt Hood... even if no one else is there. We felt like second class drinkers sitting at the crew tables around the corner... The wine was okay... the glasses were out of order, the cider was not available, the beer was drinkable, not great. There's a lot of other places with half way decent views of mt hood that will treat you better. read more

Nice setting with ridiculous rules. This vineyard/cidery/brewery experience is a nice laid back environment with excellent views of Mt Hood. The pizza was pretty good and the beer was mediocre but passable. Service left something to be desired There are 2 service areas: the tasting room with adjacent reservation only patio or the lawn where there are shaded tables. If you have a reservation, you can get a sampling of foods with your wine tasting. If you don't have a reservation and sit in the walkup area, you are limited to beer and cider and can only order pizzas (no salad or charcuterie), and you HAVE to order 2 drinks in order to receive the ability to buy a pizza (??). Firstly, the kid manning the drink cart outside clearly had no interest in doing anything beyond the bare minimum that his position required. We had members of our group who are gluten free so I then inquired inside the half empty tasting room about ordering a salad. Of the two teens I spoke to inside, neither could tell me why this was. Ok, fine, not their policy and I'm sure the owners have their reasons. But here's the thing: I have worked in food service. There are often rules that stipulate purchase of food to get alcohol or the like. But never have I been required to buy alcohol in order to get food and I can see absolutely no reason other than trying to push tasting room sales to have such a limited menu for walk-ups. The person I asked about it simply said that there was no way they could accommodate the sale of a salad to someone without a reservation. To add injury to insult, come to find out that the same pizzas ordered in the reservation area come with additional toppings which is just a wild decision to me. So if you order the pear pizza inside it comes with arugula and bacon but outside you just get cheese pears and balsamic. Like, what reason do you have to make the fare visibly different to the people without reservations? Incredibly asinine in my opinion. This unfortunately soured me on the rest of the experience. I think as long as you go into the experience knowing what to expect you'll have a fine time; I was just annoyed and disappointed with their seemingly nonsensical rules. I probably wouldn't recommend it with other options in the area. read more

I'm so sad about the decline of this place. We discovered it before Covid, made the drive fairly often from the Portland area and LOVED it...great pizza, decent Pinot Noir and a wonderful relaxed setting with a fabulous view. Sadly, it has a very negative vibe about it now with a way overpriced pairing menu. Not sure if they got too big for their britches or what but I really miss what they used to be a few years back. read more

Staff was rude and not attentive. Per person only option on set items is not good for all parties. No exceptions. What about people who chose not to drink. ...... too many good wineries in the area to be treated so poorly. After we were left alone while staff were chatting at bar with each other we left. One glanced as we got up and started chatting again. Totally didn't care people were leaving. It's one thing to get an award........ it's another to be worthy of it long term. Please note it was not busy. read more

Wine was nothing special. You cannot order food outside of their pairings which were lack luster. You can choose one flight and a pizza, two flights which comes with pizza and salad, or three flights accompanied by pizza/salad/charcuterie. Mind you....they only have three flights; one wine, one beer, and one cider. So if you want more than one tasting, you're mixing wine with beer and or cider. No flowers in bloom at this time of year. Overpriced overall ($60 for a crap pizza and one glass of wine for two people?) Oh, and the pear and Gorgonzola pizza is more like a bacon and pear pizza with onions and arugula. Awful experience. Not for wine lovers or foodies by far. read more

This place is gorgeous. Amazing view of Mt Hood. We were lucky to visit on a clear sunny day in April. We had the food pairing + beverages, and we were very pleased. The menu offers one salad, a fondue course to share, and a pizza paired with 3 drinks. They were able to accommodate my wheat restrictions. I felt comfortable asking questions about the preparation, and I the staff was very open and honest. They offer a gluten-free crust that tastes delicious, one of the best ones I've had. Our first visit today will be our last visit. The staff, including someone acting as a "manager" was nearly incompetent regarding customer service. They told us since we did not have a reservation we would have to sit on the picnic tables in order to go. They said we only have eight tables inside and we have reservations. There were eight tables inside, but only one table had customers at it for the duration of our visit. Everybody else had to go outside. When we got our pizza, we had to go get plates napkins and plasticware. When we picked up said plates, plasticware and napkins, one of the employees came up to us and rudely said quote that's not for you, then took the plates away from us. This was the most uncaring service we've ever received. It was like they were doing us a favor to even talk with us and take our money. Never again! read more

This use to be my favorite place of all time but all the regulations have completely ruined this place. Inside and out. I would not recommend this place in a million years. If you had asked me this before this Summer when they had normal policies I would have recommended this place, but I will be taking them off of all my blogs. Regardless of all the money spent on the wedding and catering, I will now no longer support Grateful Vineyard and recommend others do the same. Wonderful place they have here! It was totally out of our way but worth the drive. They took us in for our reservation even though we came a few minutes late. We were even treated with a giant cookie on our way out! I got the black berry cider and it was delicious. I got a big jug of it to take hone as well for a good price. I got the seasonal salad which was perfectly put together. My sisters got the margarita pizza and it was fresh out of the oven as we showed up. We were in search of a great glass of wine for me and a beer for my hubby. So happy to discover Grateful Vineyard. They make delicious wine, brew terrific beer and even make their own hard cider. We enjoyed our beverages with a scrumptious pot of cheese fondue with all of the fixins. Imagine, a wine flight or glass of wine and the fondue for $25? Hard to believe but so true. Another great experience here. Came with the whole family + dog and spent an hour or so at a table in the "meadow." I enjoyed a pinot noir, wife loved her white wine, and grandpa had a beer (though wished he'd had a wine). We also enjoyed some pear pizza, which was quite reasonably priced. Mumsy loved the experience and wants to come back here again for more drinks and pizza. Would also be nice to come back when they have live music. We had a wonderful experience at Grateful Vineyard this August. What a special place! Tables are safely spaced apart in a large open area outside the main restaurant building. There you are surrounded by a beautiful view of Mt Hood, Orchards, vineyards and a sunflower field. Our server Marge was so personable, making us feel completely at home, and made all the right food and drink suggestions. We tried the flight of locally made summer wines as well as a flight of their own ciders all of which were delicious. Weird rules about ordering food - they make you get drinks (which is usually the opposite?) and even when we did get drinks, they wouldn't let us get food without buying more drinks because it has to be done all at once as some package thing. Well we weren't planning on it, but then we were there for a while with a whole flight of ciders and the pizza looked nice so we wanted one! So rude. They make a big deal about how their cider is made with natural juices and no sweetener, but it's just ok. If this is a dig at the nearby Gorge White House, well, their cider tastes a lot better than here... It was impossible to find any seating outside. The inside was spacious, but got hot. There were people coughing near us so big no! Will not be back. read more
