In fact, the only station in the city open on Sundays and a lifesaver for those who started writing holiday cards on the Friday before Christmas. Peering into the "envelopes" mail slot, thousands of pieces of mail were visibly overflowing the sacks, requiring some gingerly wedging of my small booklet-worth of correspondence in between others. Fingers crossed all made it out ok! Shoutout to one of two staff working the two open counters at 5pm on Sunday December 21, you were friendly, prompt and helpful and put your best foot forward for terrific customer service. Only 2 counters were open and the line was about a dozen people long, steadily moving. For service--a solid 5 stars. Facilities are as expected a bit on the older side, being built in 1912 as part of the original Penn Station complex, though the modern conveniences of tap-to-pay technology and self-service weigh/postage stations are available. Waiting in line, the details on the ceiling caught my attention. Maybe because the darker evening outside accentuated the brighter interior, the simultaneously ornamental, scrolling flourishes fitted in repeating geometric patterns stood out in ways I hadn't noticed before. Come to find after some googling the ceiling is decorated with the country seals of 11 countries including the US, the countries part of the universal postal union at the time of construction, an administrative body now under the purview of the United Nations that handles international shipping policies. Not very fun facts: designated a national historic landmark in 1973 and re-named after James Farley, 53rd U.S. Postmaster General in 1982. Previously generically named the General Post Office. Slightly more fun fact: atop the facade along 8th Avenue the inscription reads, "Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds." Some may confuse this to be the creed of the U.S. Postal Service, but it's actually not. Rather, it's tied to the tribute that building architect William Mitchell Kendall paid to major historical figures credited with postal advancements. This is an excerpt out of Herodotus's 'Histories', which described the messenger system established in Persia by Cyrus the Great.

As someone who has regularly used this post office for years given its easy availability, including with a P.O. Box there, it amazes me what has developed, especially since the building now also includes Penn Station's Moynihan Hall. Yes, they do have window service every day, but 98% of the time they're slow as molasses long lines because less than optimal staffing levels. Hey, USPS, this is the city that never sleeps, yet P.O. Boxes and self-serve Automatic Centers are now closed off to the public at night!!! Why? (Note - This is despite the faster than inflation, year-after-year increase in this location's P.O. Box rental rates.) Why is the only ADA access, as far as I could find it, on the almost the. complete opposite side of the building towards 9th Avenue inside Moynihan Hall?

I am very satisfied with the Graphic Lab. As a student I have been looking for a printing shop where I could get a high quality prints for my projects. My quantity was very low, but yet they treated me as a big client. I have to give special thanks to Rich who did an awesome job with printing my books. I should admit that I am a picky customer, and it is hard to satisfy me. However, Rich willingly listened and followed every minor detail I asked for. He is very knowledgable in what he does, and every single recommendation he gave me in terms of choosing the right weight and quality of paper, made my projects look even better. I asked for prefect binding for my tiny books. This is something that they do not do for small books, but Rich did it for me. Also, the service was very fast. I asked if they can get it done in 3 days but Rich e-mailed me and told me that my books will be ready in two days. When I received them I was amazed with the quality and attention to details. They looked much better than what I imagined. I would definitely go back. If you ever need to print anything, for a big or a low quantity, this is the place to go. I can not tell you how satisfied I was with the outcome of my little project I had Mr. Adam McClellan do for me. First of all, he gave me a time frame and worked with my schedule to come in and explain what it is that I wanted and needed. After explaining all the little antics and how special it was for me, he looked very confident and assured me he will get the job done. I needed a design I had made myself printed out on a T-shirt that I wanted! (I emphasize this because many places won't do this, at least not for the great price I did it for) for a concert I was going to. Let me tell you, I put my trust in that guy, and he really pulled through for me. He centered my design on the shirt it in such a perfect way and solved all the small worries I had about the outcome. He was very good about communication and emailing me the progress. Not only that but everything just came out so great that I would go back to the Graphic lab specifically for him to do jobs for me. The experience was great and I now have a physical memory of the awesome concert I went to with my awesome and complicated design on my T-shirt. Thank you graphic Lab, and thank you ADAM!! I went through a lot of reviews. l sent an email to Graphic Lab about a project idea. Later that same day, I received a reply and set up an appointment. Today, August 15th, I drove from Queens to Midtown Manhattan. All I had was an idea of what I wanted. I had sketches, papers, flash drives sat down with Rich and in about an hour, he created my project! He didn't take my stuff and just regurgitate something back to me. We sat together and throughout the process asked my opinion. He was so pleasant to work with. He told me if I had an additional 15 minutes he would print it so I wouldn't have to return to Manhattan. How thoughtful & great customer service. This is so NOT Fedex/Kinko's. I tried that first. I think if you're not getting what you want, never settle. This company is a group of talented professionals with great customer service and fast turn around time. It's worth the trip. I'm a graphic Designer from Brooklyn, and found graphic lab in a desperate search for a printer who could do a super quick turnaround for a personal project of oversized digital prints without costing me an arm and a leg. I requested a quote and was emailed minutes later by Carmine with all the info I needed. I was a little worried about the quality of the print as I was doing some metallic overlays on a few of the prints, so Carmine printed me a sample to have in less than 24 hours. Every question I had along the way was promptly responded to, which alone is enough to keep me coming back. I am a print production director at a marketing company. I use Graphic Lab for many of our large format signage. I can't overstate how superb this company is! When I ask for a price quote, I get a response within 5 minutes. When I send in a job for a large mounted print and ask for next day turnaround, it is usually completed within 2 hours. One morning, our CEO needed 5, six-foot tall mounted prints of our latest ad campaigns to be used as a backdrop for a press conference being held by the Mayor of NY at noon. It would be televised. Graphic Lab completed and delivered the job perfectly and on time! Carmine, their customer service person and production manager is friendly, courteous, knowledgeable, and extremely professional. I'm a photographer and I was looking to have a fold-out postcard printed as a leave behind for an industry event on a very tight turn-around - it was literally Monday morning and I needed cards in hand by 10AM on Tuesday. Carmine answered my call and was not at all phased by the request. In less than an hour after I had sent him my finalized file he had printed samples in hand, ready for me to come review in person. I came over and the samples were perfect! After I chose my stock, Carmine got everything ready with my order so that I could just walk in the next morning and grab them. I used Graphic Lab Inc to print a 48 x 56 inch poster for my class. I spoke with Bob who was pleasant and very helpful in answering my questions. He even gave me contact information where I could email the the information, he allowed me to visit the office just to see how it would turn out before he printed and he gave me feed back. We are a UK based company and needed urgent business cards printed and delivered same day to our Chief Analyst who was arriving in the US for a meeting. I received excellent customer service from Carmain Campisi, he replied to my email (sent from the UK) as soon as US business hours opened and when I phoned him, was friendly and reassuring. I can't speak to the quality of their work, since the order I placed with them ended up falling apart at the last minute (bad communication on my end, first time organizing a t-shirt for a corporate event) but see their other reviews! They're well liked. I worked directly with Adam, who was professional and timely, both over the phone and in email. If you're looking to print a tank for your next race, Rich at Graphic Lab Printing is your man. I have been coming back to him over and over, each year with an ever more complex idea. Rich is such an artist with an ability to execute it to perfection. The finishings are top quality, one of the most polished I've seen in the industry. After contacting probably every printing spot in Manhattan, Rich at GraphicLab was the only person that was willing to handle my project. After discussing with him over the phone, I brought in a black wool coat, asking for three complex prints in different places on the garment, which was already a difficult fabric to print on. My experience working with Graphic Lab was perfection. Another company had been problems every step of the way, so in a pinch, we found this company and they really stepped up to the plate. I worked with Nohar, but everyone I spoke to was lovely. There was an issue with my file that I couldn't see on my end...he showed it to me and I was able to quickly fix it. I've worked with Graphic labs on multiple occasions, most recently with Rich Campisi. I submitted a design to be printed on a shirt and left the rest in his hands. In a matter of 36 hours my shirts were printed and delivered to me nicely bagged and properly labeled with care instructions. The price was competitive and the quality of the printing was superb. For example, my shirts from nearly two years ago have been washed multiple times and the print/color/image are intact - no cracking or bleeding! Upon arriving at the address listed on Yelp and their website (which is a multi occupancy office building) - the doors were locked with a nondescript intercom system. I called them to try to figure out how to get in. Nobody picked up, but the message proclaimed that they were 'open and operating but couldn't get to the phone.' I wandered around a bit more and found the REAL entrance, located at 520 8th Avenue. I went to check in at the security desk as required, and was turned away by the security guard because apparently, they are appointment-only. That seems odd for a supposedly 24 hour establishment. I did not see this on the website, nor was it mentioned in their phone message. Long story short, wasted so much time going to this place, trying to get in, trying to get a hold of them, trying to get past security, and with nothing to show for it. Will not be trying this business again.

Obviously this can vary project to project, but they've never not been able to satisfy a last minute turn around time (at least for me) They have great variety options when it comes to paper type or quality to fit your needs whatever they may be. This seems like a dramatic paid for review. But sometimes you find a business that is just unlike any other in the industry and they deserve a round of applause for quality of service and professionalism.
