My kids would give it 5 stars, but as a mom 3 for price alone Lol. We took them to the North Pole Express which sells out in July... yes July. For the price of tickets it's kind of a joke. Adults are $40, kids are $40 ($35 for traveling passengers and they get the same stuff). I really wish they had a more reasonable ticket price. If you want your full family together and only have 3 of you, you are required to buy the whole section, or hope no one is sitting there. They ask you to get there 1-1.5 hours early so you can walk around and be on time. We were told we could get on the train 30 mins prior but they didn't load us until about 5 mins prior and our take off was take. It goes for about 40 mins total. During that time they pass out cookies and a bell. You also sing carols. Once you get off they give you a coupon for a photo of Santa... but Santa photos don't happen until you sit through a 20 min musical production. After that they hand out the souvenir cups with chocolate milk (it was pretty good! Tasted like a frosty). Overall good experience for my 3 year old. My 1.5 year old was over it after 20 mins, but it was a fun memory to make!

Nice little train ride from Grapevine to the stockyards of Fort Worth which is a nice alternative from the get there mode of transportation. But remember, this is a slow and lazy trip that's cute and fun for younger passengers or this not in any kind of rush. A bit too corney for most people, the downsides of this train are the cramped seating, noisy A/C, cheap snacks from the local warehouse store, and no alcohol beverages. Please manage your expectations. Upside is it's a friendly venture to and fro as long as you remember you'll have to let faster trains on by. If you have the time and want a slow and enjoyable time, this is your best bet.

Cute train. Fun experience. Snack service was painfully, irritatingly slow. Might try a wine train but otherwise, once was enough. Edit: snack service on the return trip was like lightning. Apparently, it was just that guy. Work smarter not harder, my friend.

This has potential to be a kid-friendly historic adventure. These old rail-cars are beautiful, and what child doesn't love trains?! However; all of the other local trains use the same track - so it is subject to huge delays - certain to provoke tantrums from young and old alike. From the new Trinity Metro Texrail (to DFW airport), to the regular freight and Amtrak trains - our adventure turned into a disaster. Our leisurely trip was supposed to be about 80 minutes each way, but the first leg alone stretched out to 3 hours. Worse still; the delays meant there was no time to eat or sightsee in the crowded Fort Worth Stockyard. Since you can't take food from home, this limited sojourners to living on train popcorn. They expected us to go 7.5 hours without real food? Almost the entire train bailed in the stockyards, to eat and Uber home. Never again.

It looks like the trip to the stockyards gets a lot of hate, but people need realistic expectations. This is a vintage train that shares the rails with other trains including faster commuter trains. They tell you the schedule upfront (before you book your tickets) telling you how long the train ride is both ways. So if you have a problem with how long it takes, don't take it! We rode the Cotton Belt route from Grapevine to the Fort Worth Stockyards and back. It's a lot of fun, and the train is in really good condition. It's a unique way to take in the history of both Grapevine and Fort Worth. I wish they gave you a little more time in the Stockyards because an hour and half is a little short, but it's still a lot of fun!

Without a doubt the customer service here is top notch and Ion leads the charge. She sells tickets and runs the show on board. This is a great way to travel to the Ft Worth Stockyards. We had about an hour and a half to explore. Just about the right amount of time. You are dropped off in the station full of shops and restaurants. I would recommend if you came to eat. Do it as soon as you get off the train. Remember the cattle run (walk) happens at 4pm and starts just outside the station. As for the delays I read so much about...this is train travel expect to wait. This train operates on some other railroads tracks. They get priority, period. The waits were few but some lasted 10 minutes. They do have on-train entertainment which helps pass the time. It is about a two-hour ride with not much to see as Dallas-Fort Worth has done a good job of filling the gap between them. I would strongly recommend First class in the heat of the summer. Overall... take the train the ride, the history is awesome

When the train is delayed over an hour on the way there-- what else can you do?!

The package we received $10 in video games (no prize games) and unlimited attractions: golf, rides, laser tag, go carts There were 2 attendants that appeared to be working. One stayed at the cars -it was the most popular-possibly because there was an attendant there so it looked operational. All other attractions we had to go find an attendant and that was quite difficult. Plenty of employees walking around but none working attractions. We finally found one person and she seemed responsible for all of them. So only one ride at a time could be operated. That is ridiculous since we paid for unlimited and only one closed at a time. Pizza was supposed to be ready at 11:45 -we had 1 sorcerer for more than 30 people! Too much for one person. Pizzas were not delivered until 12:10 and only 2 at a time and were served 2 slices at a time by waitress. We then had to wait to get 2 more pizzas. So we spent A LOT of time waiting for rides and food and very little time participating in the activities. Pizza was terrible -think kid pizza. Not one participant asked for seconds. Worse than Main Event pizza It could be improved with staff! And better food

Tickets per person are a tad cheaper ($46 vs $52). Personally I think the ICE! shows aren't as good as they used to be. The displays are shorter, the jackets are worn out, and you no longer get mittens. AND i got a rash after wearing the jackets. I purchased tickets on sale and it was about $60 for both of us. It mentioned parking was not included but never in my life did I expect it to be $40 plus tax to park and I feel that should have been more transparent. Additionally, the signage at the Gaylord grounds is terrible and unclear, especially at night. We drove around in circles to eventually find the parking lot where there was no indication of handicap parking location anywhere either. All the entrances are automated boxes so you can't find anyone to ask. We had a slot at 7:15 and the line was forever.. we were in line longer than we were in the event. I'm not a fan of cold but I came prepared with a down jacket, sweater, gloves, Ugg boots, and hat and I only started feeling cold on my hands towards the end where the slides are. The jackets they provide do NOT have pockets so keep that in mind as you are required to wear it. We finally got out and I was excited to check out the little market stores (Kendra Scott!) but they had all just closed at ~8:30. Very disappointing.

Also most rides only had one cart going at a time, so even spending extra money on Fast Lanes was iffy because the waits were still long. The same employee was dropping her measuring stick every 2 minutes, handing off her employee phone and stick to a guest waiting to get on the ride to put on her jacket, leaning over the wooden part and telling everyone she was tired and just wanted to go home. Not the energy someone wants to encounter after waiting almost an hour for Fast Lanes. On the same ride, they made everyone move down 2 rows to let a family that wasn't waiting in line pick where they wanted to sit. We were bummed out because we did not want to be in the back and got moved to the back without warning. I do believe this letting families jump the line and pick where they sit is not okay especially for the people who paid extra for fast lanes. After getting bumped to the back row we were disappointed because we'd been in the back row for every ride we had been on and that was our final ride of the day. Also, if you plan to use the app to navigate your day, be cautious of the wait times. Each ride had a different wait time than what we saw in the app, and we ended up waiting even longer than what the app said.

The staff is hit or miss too. A lot of the time it looks like they don't want to be there, but then you'll run into some employees who are actually really nice and helpful. My biggest issue is the Flash Pass. I usually buy the 90% reduced wait time option and it's insanely expensive, but somehow I still end up waiting in long lines even with it, which defeats the whole point. That said, this place isn't all bad, and it's not a 1 star for a reason. The park feels more sanitary now and you can tell they're making improvements to try to make it better. One warning: do not get FanShield, they won't give you your money back. Also, I wouldn't recommend ordering tickets online, do it in person just in case.

The rides are all age appropriate as well. Our baby is just 1 year old so she could only go on the hot air balloon and the pirate ship rides, both which she enjoyed. My niece and nephew (6 and 4) were able to go on all the rides. Outside of the rides, there were plenty of other things for younger kids to do as well including a warehouse where they can push carts around or ride a tricycle around. There's also a splash pad area, which was my baby's favorite thing to do there since she loves playing with water. Just make sure you bring extra clothes to change into and towels because they charge $6 to use their drying station next to the splash pad which is insane. One thing I did notice was that there wasn't really a spot at the park where small kids can wind down to take a nap. It seemed like everywhere was over stimulating with either the rides or loud sounds. Even in darker zones like inside the warehouse with the tricycles the loud speaker kept blasting recurring bird chirps that we thought was just excessive. I did want to call out how I love that there's a dedicated baby changing room area with multiple changing stations so there isn't a need to wait for the family restroom or to wait for the changing table in the regular restrooms. Huge plus for me!
