Grapeland Water Park is not open year round and when it is open you can see the crowds enjoying the park and full parking lot when you drive by. It's a Miami-Dade Public Park located in an area away from the beaches and tourist spots situated next to Miami International Airport. I'm only 5 minutes away and the day was beautiful so I packed the bare minimum to spend about 2.5 hours with my 3 year old. I just wasn't sure what to expect. I had a lot of questions like, were we going to like it? Was there going to be ok food? How was the parking going to be? Was I going to find a place to sit? I just didn't know. Let me tell you what I packed and what I will do next time. I just took a back pack with two towels, a water bottle, sun block, a pack of gold fish crackers and my wallet. I did ok with the towels because I was wondering if they'd have towels for us like they do in a resort. They don't have towels for you and I have no idea why I would have thought that they would have towels? In addition to the above I'll take more snacks, beverages, couple more towels and treat it like a beach day. We walked the entire park to get a feel for where we were at and find a good spot. Surprisingly enough we found a spot in the back and that was ok. I feel that any spot is a good spot at the park because everything is so close. You'll find plenty of loungers, a few loungers are under big umbrellas, some tables with umbrellas and areas reserved for parties. Some people even moved loungers under palm trees a little further back or sat around on the grass. Everyone seemed happy with there choice. There is plenty of food spots. One main area where you can get chicken wings, tenders, pizza, hot dogs, ice cream, sodas, small bagged snacks, plus a few more items. And there are about three or more carts around the pool you can get hot dogs, cut watermelon and shaved ice at. That was more than enough for the size of the place. We didn't have to wait long at all to get a snack when we got hungry. The pools are crowded because that's what we are all there to do but it's expected and we were not all on top of each other. You will have to make short lines to get on the water slides and the lazy river which I didn't expect because I was still thinking "Resort" lol. Again, it was all good at the end because they were very quick. There are life guards EVERYWHERE so you feel very safe and they control the shenanigans of ppl trying to cut the line even tho it's not a long wait and monkeying around at the pool. Yes, I read other Yelpers reviews about the lifeguards whistling every second, but.... come on it's not a big deal... you're at a public pool with a lot of people and they are keeping everyone safe. No biggie! Parking was easy for us. We actually found one the moment we drove in close to the entrance however any parking spot is a good spot. The lot is large and we didn't encounter frustrated drivers looking for parking far away. Once we were there enjoying the day, hopped around from pool to pool and walked around a little we liked it. If you've stayed at a resort before, the pool has the same feel minus the hotel and open bar. The entrance price is a deal. One adult and child entrance totaled $19. This is a great way to spend the day if you're a local or a tourist. Note: there are float vests available for the children but they are limited. There are lockers available to store your valuables for a fee.

Oh how I love places that don't have me running into the usual suspects. It's funny because wile Grapeland is only minutes away from the Beach (and many places), somehow it feels removed. I have taken Baby Rock Star to Grapeland a couple of times and we have had a ball. As other reviewers have noted, there is ample seating both in the shade and in the sun. Both visits I found the pools (and the park in general) to be clean and well maintained. There are two pools with slides, one of them has the slides for children under 42 inches and the other is for taller children. Then you have your traditional pool with shallow end and deeper end (it's only 5 feet or so) and the aforementioned lazy river. I wish the river ride was a bit more substantial, especially given the time waiting in line, but it's still fun. Now I always pack lunch and/or snacks for my little but I must admit that two things we inevitably buy there are an ice cream and fries. Let it be known that while typically I am a picky vegetarian and tend towards the healthier side things, I LOVE skinny fries. Love. Grapeland is one of the few places that happens to have skinny fries and friends I do indulge when there. Love those fries. The first time we visited Grapeland, the park closed due to an impending storm. We were given a raincheck to return and indeed that was honored the next time we visited. A nice break for a few hours that will have you feeling like kid.

The service was great, Diego was very attentive and always passing by to check in on us, very nice. The slides were insane but soo much fun. There is one slide that I definitely did not go on because it was crazy, you stand into it and out of no where it drops you. It looks very scary lol Definitely would come back again to spend the day here. The lazy river was very nice and relaxing until our friends got wild. But overall it was very fun.

We arrived right when the park opened at 10 AM on a Wednesday, and were greeted by a super friendly staff. They helped us complete waivers for each student. It was easy to do on your phone or the tablets they provided. After getting our wristbands, we headed straight for the beach chairs right in front of the slides. Great view, great energy! The kids were hyped and didn't waste a second before running up the stairs to hit the slides. There are about 3-4 slides total (one was down for maintenance), and even though it's a bit of a hike to the top, they didn't mind one bit. Meanwhile, I was loving the lazy river right behind us. So calm. So peaceful. 10/10 would recommend. There's also a big pool with tons of lounge chairs that the students loved, and a splash zone for the younger ones that was also a hit. One thing I really appreciated as a chaperone? There were plenty of lifeguards stationed throughout the park. I never had to second guess the kids' safety. They were being watched from every angle. That gave me so much peace of mind. We ordered pizza and burgers for lunch, and I the pizza tasted even better this year. Im pretty sure they updated the recipe. The burgers and fries (for the chaperones) were bomb. Zero complaints! Food was kind of pricey though. ‍ I was very happy with the restrooms. Clean, air-conditioned, and playing music. Love that little touch. Best part? No rain this year! WE wrapped up around 2:15 PM after a fun and sunny day. Our poolside attendant was so kind and helpful. I hate that I can't remember his name, but he definitely made our experience even better. We'll be back for summer #4, no question!

I came with my two kids (3 and 6), my parents, my brother and his family (1 and 6) and my high school friends and their kids (9 and 12) and EVERYONE had a blast! The key was to get there early so you could enjoy all the attractions without the lines that form as the day goes on. We found loungers right away, grabbed tubes and hit the lazy river, and after a few relaxing laps, we headed for the splash pad. My 3 year old didn't leave there for the rest of the day. He was completely enthralled with all of the splash features, water slides, and fun that surrounded him. The water was just deep enough that he could float around on his stomach but not deep enough to ever be too worried. The older kids and myself hit the big slides, which were a blast. For a small waterpark, these were solid. The design kept you on your toes and they picked up enough speed to give you a little rush. They have an onsite cafe but they also allow you to bring in your own cooler, which is amazing! We packed a picnic and had a great lunch as a group. The one pro-tip I have is to book a FUNBRELLA! We thought about it too late, but these shaded pavilions are perfect for groups and reasonably priced so you don't even need a special occasion to get one. Sure I remembered it being much bigger, but Paradise Cove delivered!

This is a staple of theirs as I remember doing that as a child when it was called Parrot Jungle. However, the place seems to be falling apart and it was evident with red decorations falling off at the entrance. This is something that can easily be fixed. The children's play area is nice and pretty big. The treehouse, trampoline and the Beyhive were unique. The treehouse playground though needs a little bit more of an upkeep as part of the ground is lifting and things are falling apart. Seeing the animals was great. I fed a goat and enjoyed doing that but again some of those animals enclosures need more of an upkeep. The animal show at 11:30 AM is a little outdated. I would recommend changing it to make it more entertaining. Overall, if you come, don't have much expectations. It's a nice thing to do after you have done everything else in Miami.

Third and finally, visiting it for said special event, Luminosa, was ABSOLUTELY wondrous. Made the visit absolutely worth it (even if my bus almost missed the stop). Plus, the staff is so kind and accommodating. We as a society need to invest and support spaces and places like this that not only offer incredible experiences, but also give back to all its visitors and urban spaces they inhabit - even if they're on a small, missable island (jajaja).

Embarkation was fairly easy because most information was collected before boarding such as passport and pictures and credit card information. It was pretty much just verifying the information previously provided. The first night we tried the steak house which offers a complimentary bottle of wine only on the first night of the sailing. The cover charge is $38 per person but well worth the additional cost. You are permitted to have three appetizers, one main course and one dessert per person. We got six appetizers including the bone marrow and beef tartare, Ahi tartare, spinach salad, Caesar salad, and a couple more. We both got the giving mignon and lobster tail as our main course and we had art at the table for our dessert. The chef's table is also a fantastic experience but at almost $100 per person it is a little pricey. In my opinion is well worth the cost as it was an 11 course semi-private meal with Incredible service. There were six chefs and a wine stewardess serving only the six of us. Sparkling, red, and white wines were all unlimited pours at the dinner. Entertainment was amazing with a welcome aboard show, four completely different Production shows, Andy comedian all in a 7-night cruise. They're all so different live entertainment venues and comedians every night on the ship. I highly recommend you have dinner as early as possible so you have the entire evening to enjoy the Production shows, Comedians and live entertainment all around the ship. I haven't been on a Carnival Cruise ship for about 10 years but being a platinum member really has its perks. The best is complimentary laundry service 3 times. Other perks include a complimentary drink at Sea Day brunch, Platinum Memorial pin, chocolate covered strawberries sent to your cabin, priority embarkation, priority disembarkation, priority tender and much more. SHIP Once on the ship, the mustering was the fastest we've ever experienced... 1) go to your assigned station, 2) they scan your card and 3) they show you how to put on a life vest....3 mins... done! The room (1455) was small as expected for the price but the bathroom was larger than other ships of the same category room. Anwar takes good care of the room and leaves a towel animal each night. He's always friendly and takes time to talk with you when he sees you walking down the hall. For those who walk for exercise, each stateroom level (5 that run the full length of the ship) is about 800 steps where the jogging track is only 200 steps and windy! Ship arrives @ 6:30am on the last day and they work to get everyone off the ship by 9am to 9:30am if you sit there long enough for those who may have a late flight. FOOD Lido deck Grand Buffet was a little snug to get around but the food was decent (some meats and most cakes were dry though) with a limited offering in comparison to other cruises (could be due to the lower capacity due to the virus). This is where we ate all our meals except one. 3 stars Golden Restaurant is a sit down and order set up with a nice menu of appetizers, entrees and desserts which you could order any number of items in each category. We had the crab cake and clam chowder for appetizers, the filet mignon and garlic shrimp and the Carnival melting chocolate cake(?) and Grand Marnier orange soufflé. The entire dinner was very tasty and the filet mignon was excellent! I recommend ordering the filet mignon and garlic shrimp together for a nice surf and turf. 4 stars. Platinum Restaurant is a sit down but we went during their "tea time". The servers would walk by with various pastries and a cucumber finger sandwich and also offer the basic tea pot or for an extra charge you could order specialty teas with a pot of hot water. The pastries were all very good. 4 stars. ENTERTAINMENT We only attended the comedian shows which we found to be much better at the late (R-rated) shows than the earlier (G-rated) ones. James Johann 4 stars Funny and R rated Chris Strait 3 stars G rated show Mildly funny Kim Harrison 4.5 stars R rated show Hilarious Chris Strait 4 stars R rated show Funnier material than clean show Kim Harrison 4.5 stars G rated show Hilarious Kourtney Williams 2.5 stars R rated show Not sure if he was nervous or just new, but pretty bland PORTS OF CALL Honduras (Mahogany Bay) (masks required everywhere) - port shopping was typical with several shops very near the port and laid out nicely - we bought tickets directly from the group for an excursion to Daniel Johnson Monkey & Sloth Hangout via their website and although their communication via email was sporadic, they answered questions and provided directions to meet the driver. It was about a 1 hour tour instead of the 4 hour one from Carnival (also $30 vs $70). Pick up was a short walk through the mall and up a road hill to the security gate of Mahogany Bay TIP: When you get the confirmation email from them, ask for a later time to avoid the rush and get longer time with the animals. (4 stars) Belize (masks required everywhere) - Ship does not dock to the port so you have a water shuttle to the Belize port. The water shuttle is Included in Carnival shore excursions but tickets can be purchased for non-Carnival excursions or to go just get to the port to shop. The port shops are laid out much like a mall. - Calypso Train Tour (3 stars) - very informative but Belize City is basically pretty run down except in spots where the more elite live. Lots of merchants hitting you up at the train terminal both at the start and end. If you want to just get out and around, or you want to get some history, the tour is good for that, but I didn't find it very entertaining. Cozumel (masks required everywhere) - Port has more variety of shops than Honduras and seems larger than Belize - Cab ride to Punta Langosta $8-$10 one way - For you Starbucks fans, the one at Punta Langosta mall is closed down... another location is open maybe 1/2 mile further down the road
