The artist did an…read moreamazing job, it's beautiful, I practically fell asleep during the appointment, the lines were clean and the steadiness of their hand was impressive. No blow outs or anything. They made sure I was happy with the size and placement. Wonderful experience. Unfortunately, that artist seems to have since left their business. MOST RECENT EXPERIENCE: The second interaction I had at Chicago Tattoo Co was with Tim. I recently lost my dog who was a huge part of my life for 14 years. I was looking to get a piece done of her that looked "faded" as if she were just beyond the veil. I brought an awful sketch with me that I did in about 30 seconds in my car before going in. I can't draw, but I wasn't trying to create something good anyways. Just something to express the "faded" idea I had in my head, since I couldn't explain it with words. Instead of trying to understand what I meant, Tim's first reaction was to judge the drawing. He said things like "I'm trying to be nice" and "no one will know what this is" "it could be a pig"... Once we got past the -its just an example- conversation, he moved on to the size and details of the piece. He said "good" tattoos have to be a certain size and I needed to go bigger. I was not willing to go bigger. By the end of the conversation, he had insulted my quick sketch, my idea, and many people who have tattoos currently that don't live up to his standards. I felt bad for those who have tattoos they love that he crapped all over. He literally called them "shitty tattoos". RECOMMENDATION: I cannot recommend Tim for literally anyone, despite his obvious talent and skill. A man that only appreciates the work he'd do himself is not an artist I'd want tattooing me, because they're likely to have trouble listening. However, Chicago Tattoo is a hub of very talented individuals in general, and its a clean environment. I have attached an image of the sketch I brought in and another sketch that took me about 8 minutes. The second is closer to what we discussed in person, but I can't imagine the first is SO bad that he really couldn't understand what I meant through conversation...it was just a visual aid anyways.. Side Note: Wether someone else likes or recognizes what your tattoo is shouldn't matter. It's what the art piece represents to the person getting it done. Get whatever you want. :)

Went here on Friday the 13th for their flash tattoo event. Got there at 4 to put our names in and…read morewe were told that we would definitely get called back in by that night for our turn. Went back at 9pm and they told us that they signed over 100 people in and they only got through 10 tattoos so far! They were closing and would be calling over the weekend for us to come in! We waited all day to be told we couldn't get tattoos until the weekend. If we knew they wouldn't have been able to tattoo us we would have gone else where as Friday the 13th has tattoo deals everywhere. Well then they started posting their photos from the flash event. This is the quality of the tattoos they were doing. It looks like they didn't even use a stencil! No one in my group wanted to go anymore if we got called in. I messaged Buddha blue on Instagram telling them that was a really bad tattoo and was blocked! Yikes! Truth hurts, they got in way over their heads by knowingly signing up 100+ tattoos to be done and then screwed everyone over by only being able to do 10... and couldn't even do the tattoos right.

And he will still charge you by the hour during those breaks. Giving small talk and keeping an eye on the time (setting a timer) will benefit you while getting tattooed. He also is very heavy handed with shading! After two sessions, I decided to go elsewhere. Unfortunately, the over confidence that he displayed wasn't showing up. Budget also goes out the window even though he asks in the beginning. I told him I didn't want to go over 1000$ but surely that's what happened. He could've told me the truth and say it'll cost more but instead stated that it could be done via instagram. I took his word and went to the shop to put down a deposit. In the end, I never went back to finish the work and left him with my deposit since he wasn't charging fairly. He has a pissy attitude (not too friendly once you become a client) to top it off and the environment can be unprofessional. He also body shames women! Very uncomfortable trying to get a tattoo from someone who body shames you. Very misogynistic! I would never recommend this shop or artist to anyone nor will I be returning.

I was very picky about it and nervous. The original was from 1999 for the time it was great but it was time to enhance it. I definitely picked a great shop with skilled artists. Thanks so much for bringing this piece back to life. A week prior I had gone in for a consultation and piercing. Baltazar had done my piercings. He was very thorough. We found that my Tragus was not done correctly (different shop) nor were we provided with after care instructions. It ended up at almost a 45 degree angle which caused the earring to be much to large. Between those two things it was nasty. He took a ton of time to clean it up so it could be removed. It's a 2 1/2 hour drive for me but I will not going anywhere else.

However, if you enjoy the banter between artist and client while you're getting a tattoo, I suggest to go elsewhere as both artists I observed are pretty reserved. The shop itself was pretty bland and could use a little updating. But, the tools and equipment were clean and that's what really matters! Ruben did a great job with the tattoo as it was extremely fine lined and on the wrist area. So 5/5 stars for his skills!

The person who does piercing charges a $20 set up fee, even if they don't have the jewelry…read moreavailable for the piercing you want. He basically strong-arms you into getting a piercing by charging a fee when it clearly isn't the customer's fault that you don't have the correct jewelry. He should have done an inventory of available product, prior to setting up, to avoid this situation. It makes him look incredibly sketchy! The rest of the shop seemed fine. My two friends and I decided to get matching nose piercings, but the catch is, we are terrified of needles! The three of us were extremely nervous and hesitant. Biggie was your piercer and he was so supportive and understanding! He was very knowledgeable, and answered every question we had! Biggie is the only reason why I have a nose piercing in right now LOL. He used sterile tools, and the process went by so fast. I barely even felt it! Drove an hour from Daytona Beach to meet a friend at Fine Ink in Oviedo Florida to get pierced…read more She had an appointment at five, someone else was 5:30, and my appointment was at six. Alex finished my friend at 5:55 PM. The next appointment was already there waiting, and had also brought a couple friends who wanted to get pierced, but did not have appointments. Rather than taking me and doing my ONE piercing so that we could leave, Alex took all three people back. By 6:40 PM, Alex was still piercing the 5:30 appointment, so we went next-door to have sushi. 30 minutes later, we came back and Alex had moved on and was piercing someone else from the party of three. By 7:30 PM, I was too annoyed to get pierced by Alex and left. Waste of time, gas and money for a deposit. Alex is nice, BUT SLOW AF.
