The good: The interior was very clean and the worker was working diligently wiping down the glass overhead the toooints and replacing light bulbs. The ambience is fun with flashing lights and a fake leaf wall. I tried taro, Vietnamese coffee, tart, strawberry, mango and cookies and cream froyo. For toppings I tried cheesecake, peanuts, circus cookie, peanut m&m, popping boba, strawberries, gummy worms and Reese's pieces hard shelled candy. The toppings were super organized and there were plenty of options. There were 3 different cup sizes to choose from. They also sell boba tea. The bad: There's no outdoor seating. The cookies and cream flavor tasted like artificial flavoring. That flavor as well as the taro and Vietnamese coffee would've tasted better if it were creamier. The tart, mango and strawberry froyo were too sweet. The peanuts were stale and tasted like old oil (like when peanut oil gets old). I took the drive here with another person after an event we attended. We found this place on Yelp and were really excited. When we arrived there was no one behind the counter. We scoped around at the toppings and waited for someone to come out. I noticed they also lacked some of my favorite flavors like peanut butter. But I still wanted to try this place. A few more costumers came in and we let them go first. Finally the girl that worked there came out. There was only one person running the whole thing. We quickly got our frozen yogurt and waited in line. It took a really long time for her to make a smoothie for the costumer in front of us. I didn't appreciate my yogurt melting because the wait was awhile. And by that time a few more costumers came in and there was a long line behind us. When we got our yogurt there wasn't anywhere to sit except for two small benches outside. I ended up getting taro, cheesecake, chocolate, and oreo. Came in with my kids and I served their yogurt. I smelled one of the cups right away so I decided to taste the yogurt. It was spoiled tasted sour. We let the girl working the cash register know, she told us we can get new cups. So I decided to get them bubble gum instead. When I got him I saw that they barely touched it. I tasted my son's cup and same thing, spoiled. They should really look into their yogurt before serving them. The worst part is that I paid a little over 10$ for less than half the cups for both kids. It's cheaper to go to Yogurtland. So I won't be coming here anymore. As a native San Pedro gal, I love me some Granny's. When I realized that Granny's Donuts now had a yogurt shop in the same shopping center, I was ECSTATIC. I really love supporting small businesses over large corporations, and I was super excited to be able to kill two cravings in one trip: donuts and frozen yogurt. The inside of this place is very clean. Like most other yogurt shops, there is a hand sanitizer dispenser right by the cups, which is nice. The yogurt selection is pretty extensive and changes often. My favorite flavors are Cookies N Cream, Heath bar, Dark Chocolate, and Cake Batter. There is usually always at least 2-3 fruit flavors (I think Dole Pineapple is one of them), and there is always plain tart yogurt. My favorite toppings are blueberries, fruit boba, cookie dough, DONUT HOLES (*oinks*), DONUT CHUNKS (*oinks and squeals*), and mini Reese's peanut butter cups. Delicious and nutritious (NOT) in a cup. ;) This place actually lets you guess your price (based on weight), and if you come within a certain amount, you get your frozen yogurt free! Pretty amazing, even though I'm never right. Warning: parking here SUCKS. It's in a small shopping center that has a lot of traffic due to the donut shop and the nail salon. So on our way back from the LBC we decided to take the bridges home so we could make a quick stop through SP to get me some sweet donut yums from my fav Granny's Donuts. We entered Granny's Plaza, then a flashing light caught our eyes and OMG the new Grannys Yogurt is now open! When we walked in we were immediately greeted by Eric who was totally awesome and was super stoked to have some yelpers in the house. So with his excitement, I took a few minutes to create a yelp page for them, we checked in, Isabel F. posted pics and Grannys Yogurt was all set up for success in the yelp world. As I was setting things up Hugo C. and Isabel F. were trying different flavors and I tried a bit of the Dole Pineapple that tasted just like the stuff you get at Disneyland. It was pretty much spot on. We all loved it so much that that was our froyo choice for the night. Their froyo goes for 35 cents per ounce. They have a good selection with a good balance between "savory" (Irish Mint, Red Velvet, Cookies and Cream) and tart flavors. Toppings are plentiful and the fruit was fresh. They were missing my two "go to" topping but Michael said that they had them in the back and that he would get them for me if I wanted. I'm not picky and it was close to closing time so I topped my Dole Pineapple and Acai Blueberry Tart with some captain crunch and mochi. The froyo itself was really good and I enjoyed the consistency. With great service from Eric and Michael, yummy froyo and the fact that they love Yelpers I will add Grannys Yogurt as one of my froyo stops. Plus...they are open super late (Sunday - Thursday 11pm and Friday & Saturday until 12am) and more times then none, I get the need for a late night froyo fix. My Love affair with Grannys continues! Since my first review of Grannys in August of last year, which earned me a ROTD, this place has added many more tasty things to their menu. Their topping bar, which was great before, is even more AMAZING now. They have everything you could ask for. Different types of nuts, granola, peanut butter brittle, many types of cereal, fresh fruit, chocolate chips, white chocolate chips, yogurt chips, donuts, creamy peanut butter sauce, condensed milk, white chocolate sauce, dark chocolate sauce, hot fudge, marshmallow sauce and much, much more. They also now carry these awesome little boba balls that have fruit juice inside of them. My wife loves to get their vanilla yogurt and top it with PB sauce and lots of strawberry boba balls. When you mix all three of these ingredients together it tastes like a PB&J sundae. Guess what? Grannys now also offers drinks. They make Thai tea, different types of milk teas, different types of green teas and these super delicious fruit flavored iced lemonades. So far I have tried their mango iced lemonade, pineapple iced lemonade and their Thai tea. Both iced lemonades were super tasty and refreshing. Their Thai iced tea is also wonderful. After having a less than wonderful time at Fuego in LBC we headed towards San Pedro to pick up a delicious donut and maybe a cheese croissant from Granny's. As soon as we pulled into the parking structure the inner yelper in each of us yelled "NEW BUSINESS" so of course we had to check it out. Once at the door we were greeted with a friendly smile and a sincere "Welcome" from Eric. As I was checking out the froyo flavors we were offered samples. I tried the dole pineapple and was immediately hooked. It tastes just like the dole whip outside the Tiki room at Disneyland! YUM. If I weren't completely stuffed with Bucky's amazing BBQ, I probably would have had more room for froyo. I ended up sharing some with Hugo C. and loved every spoon full. Granny's has a great ambiance to say the least. It's a neighborhood-centered business, that proudly showcases the locals who frequent the shop in their slide show. The yogurt is ok; seems like it could be more chilled than it is. What really ruined it was the chopped almond topping that I put on it. Old, rancid, and nasty tasting. I mentioned to one of the workers that it had gone bad and she just shrugged her shoulders and said she'd tell somebody. This place, however, was not crap! haha :-D In fact it was, dare I say, better than Pinkberry. Yes indeed, it was better than Pinkberry. Much like Yogurtland, you choose exactly what you want, and you pay by the ounce. Also, if you guess the exact price of your cup of Yogurt you get it for free! I, Must admit i went in with the idea of all the other frozen Yogurt places in my head so i was ready to compare and be let down thinking it might be like a Pinkyberry knock off or some other from of that .... You can always tell how good a place is going by the way the keep their business im a firm believe if you love what you do, then you take care of it.... And this place was not only clean but very well put together, i do have to say that when i first walked in there was no staff there to greet you or to even explain the different selection's not that i needed that but i might have if it where my first time.. After being a customer for over 2 years I have to say I am very disappointed in this establishment. As a resident of RPV and a repeat customer, myself and my daughter was denied the restroom after eating the yogurt there. Choice of toppings is similar to other froyo places, with the addition of DONUTS (of course!). I chose to add graham cracker dust, coconut, oatmeal, and the little brownie bites to mine. Yum! As the previous reviews have stated, you can try to guess the amount of your purchase to get your yogurt for free. I used to love this place but I think they changed management. We walked in at 8:30 pm, young guy was in the back and he said he'll be out to help but instead served himself a big cup of yogurt and went to the back. There were only 4 yogurt flavors available and hardly any fruit options which I completely understand because it was at the end of the night and it had been hot that day. While I was in the area I stumbled upon Granny's... I thought to myself... hey... there is a yogurtland here in this tiny plaza! But after a second look, it wasn't yogurtland, it was Granny's yogurt! This froyo place located in a tiny little plaza on Western in San Pedro/Rancho Palos Verdes border is owned by the same people who own the Granny's dount shop in the same plaza! Go Granny! Taking over that little tiny plaza! Go on with your bad self! I couldn't remember exactly how many flavors there were but for sure there were at least 12 flavors and they usually interchanges them depending on availability, season, etc. (They even got sugar-free version too which is awesome!) I purchased the original (vanilla) as I like to set a baseline for various restaurants, eateries, froyo, etc. The texture was great, uand the fact it was sugar-free made it even less guilty! Awesome! Lots of toppings for you to choose as well! (I usually don't like toppings because they take up too much weight & $$$, I'm here for the froyo you know?) I was able to try all the other flavors as well since they also distribute sample cups like all other froyo places. All of them tasted delicious in my opinion as I'm not really picky with my froyos... (as long as it's cold, creamy and affordable then is great in my books) What's even better? Right now they are having a promotional price of $0.29 per oz! WOW! Isn't yogurtland like $0.33-$0.35 per oz? This is probably the lowest cost froyo place I've seen so it's even more tasty in my books! (maybe they will keep that rate to be extremely competitive with all large corporate chains) The place was nice and clean with the yogurtland-like decor. Service was terrific and it will get you in and out in no time. Why the one less star? Parking! The plaza here is horrid! So small, tough to enter and exit, just not the greatest location. (So to me, the food should always top out at 4 stars while all other contributing factors should be grouped into one star) Gotta give them a try regardless, they are a very well worth it froyo place and deserves your patronage! Just remember when you are coming back out onto Western. It can get quite dangerous on that busy road! Be careful and watch for the traffic! read more
