They seem to like letting flies hang out in their donut display. Both times I've come here there were flies enjoying their time amongst the donuts. They also started charging an extra .25 cents for any donut that has a twist or shape to it. Not right, and just comes across as money hungry. Cashier just charges extra without explaining anything, and gets upset when you question the extra charge. Not a standard half dozen prize for donuts that taste very artificial. The chocolate glaze has an old cake frosting-like appearance and cracks off of the donuts. Will not be returning. read more

I ordered through DoorDash so it was a bit more expensive than the normal prices in store. The regular prices look amazing though, for a dozen donuts. The glaze was very good, the donut itself was fluffy enough, and I thought the chocolate donut was also tasty. There have been a few donut shops lately that I've tried with chocolate donuts that were less than stellar. Luckily this place was good. I thought the jelly donuts were a bit thick inside but it was still tasty. read more

Granny's Donuts is a fun family owned donut shop on Western Avenue on the San Pedro side of PV. What they offer is what one would expect from a donut shop. They have a large variety of donuts. And, I mean a large variety of them. There's really a lot of choices that can be made here. They also offer things like ham and cheese, croissants, a few bagels, cookies, and things like that, if you wanna expand your taste. Meaning, you don't have to just buy a donut here. They also have a large variety of drinks in their cooler. So, if you want the various soft drinks or energy drinks or something like that, they have a wide variety choose from. Of course, they also have coffee, milk, and things like that. The main thing that I always notice when I come in here is the fact that this shop is very-very clean. The moment you walk in, you can just tell that this place is very well managed and taken care of. It's really a nice feeling to go into a business where you know that they are really taking the time to keep their place immaculate. In terms of interior seating, they have several tables. There, you can sit back and enjoy your donut, or your whatever, and maybe have a conversation with your friend, family or whoever you came into the shop with. They also have one outdoor table. It's a large metal table, with a nice awning over it, so you'll be able to sit outside if that is your preference. Overall, if you're driving down Western, if you're in San Pedro, or if you're coming from PV, this is a great donut shop. read more

I do not live close to this place. In fact, on busy mornings going to this place takes me out of my way. Still, I will be a little late to work (and I do mean a little late to work) to make it to this place because it has so many things that other donuts shops do not have. I will expand on these later but for now now tat this place has crullers, and not a lot of other places do. I especially like their crullers because: 1) they are available, 2) they come in four flavors, plain, and vanilla, which are often confused as one 3) they are just slightly crispy in the outside and airy in the inside. Eating one is not enough which is a good and bad thing, like being able to beat your boss in tennis. In both these scenarios you need to make a choice, and hopefully, you chose your safety first in both. I highly recommend their crullers. This place has my breakfast combo of choice--- ice coffee and a turkey sandwich. The turkey sandwich is part of their lunch selection and comes with a bag of chips. The coffee and the sandwich both taste fresh and just plain good. The place also takes pride in offering a selection of great donuts. Like they the ones with bacon on top--- I don't buy them, I grew the fad. They have jelly donuts (which donut shop does not) but they also have blueberry filled donuts, and lemon filled donuts. They also have apple fritters, muffins and they sell candy, scratchers, I think, and have so many other things to enjoy, like Snapple's and Gatorade. They have fridges too. So basically it is also kind of live a convenience store. The place makes me want to eat more donuts because it is well-kept and glows with friendly people and spotless floors and tables. I hate that it is also kind of in a corner of a major street. So it is not easy to access. Parking lots like that scare me a bit cause spaces are limited and so is some people's patience. I speak from experience. The donut shop is worth it. It is definitely not a fad operation, or glitzy for now, it is a donut shop that takes it self-seriously as a morning spot for customers looking to take donuts to an office with pride. read more

So, we have been coming here for years and it has been our go to place when we have a hankering for donuts. We almost felt lucky we live close by. Yesterday I went to get some donuts and the lady that was helping me with my selection was lovely, friendly, and nice. All would have been fantastic if she rung me up. Unfortunately, she passed my box on to another lady to ring me up. After ringing me up and paying, I have a habit, as probably we most do, of saying, "Thank you". When I said "Thank you", the lady who rang me up looked at me and said, "Yeah, yeah". It stopped me in my tracks. I was going to say something but in the split second that it happened there were other people there and I thought, "Don't make a scene." So I left. However, it has been itching at me since. I love this family owned donut shop! They have been in San Pedro for 32 years+. The donuts are always freshly made. My favorite is the chocolate filled with chocolate chips on top. It was so good, I didn't get to take a picture of it before chomping down on it The java chip frap is a solid choice if you want a frap drink with a little crunchy surprise. It's great because it doesn't have too much coffee which I like. It's always clean; the floors, the counters, the area where they keep the donuts. That's a plus in my book because I've seen some dirty donut shops which make eating their questionable. Not here though, it's sparkling clean all the time. They have a quaint seating area inside. I've only sat here once, but I see people sitting down there all the time. The staff always greet you with a friendly smile. The wait isn't long either because they have multiple people taking orders. They also have multiple registers now which makes ordering much faster. Great job, Granny's! I would definitely recommend if you're in the area or want to make a trip to try these decadent donuts. I love supporting locally owned donut shops! I don't eat sweets much unless I'm traveling or with random cravings. It was a weird time of day so it wasn't busy. Quick service! They're attentive to customers. I got a glazed donut while my older sis got a plain donut with chocolate icing. Yum! Light and not overly sweet. Cheap price too at around $3. They sell a bunch of different energy drinks, Gatorade, cereal, breakfast sandwiches, and even cup noodles. Not a ton of parking spots in the lot. I've never had a stale donut from here or something that tasted funky or like old oil. Parking is tough. It's off Western, which is pretty busy depending on the time. The store itself is spacious and clean. I wasn't too happy about paying $6 for 3 normal donuts. Call me old, but I remember when donuts were under $1 a piece. Now this pricing is just nonsense, especially when the donut isn't any different than before. In fact, these donuts were not fresh and not soft. I can understand paying a premium for specialty donuts but this place is nothing special and they've got specialty pricing. Been coming to granny's my whole life and so when I was recently home to visit family this weekend I decided it's been way too long since I have had a Granny's donut. Was it a good idea to come here, I'm not entirely sure because I feel like they put all the donut places around me here in Denver to shame; so really I just had a taste of what I'm missing out on a day to day basis. Dang their donuts are FRESH! We just got 6, and I went with a crumb raised...omg so fresh and airy. Like it had to have been made within the past idk hour or so...wow. Usually I'm a crumb cake but this crumb raised had me rethinking my palate. Also I had to go with the chocolate cake w round sprinkles as this was my go too as a child. Something about the round sprinkles vs the long ones...lol it's just my favorite and I feel like no one else uses round sprinkles. That was tasty and full on nostalgia for me. And of course the glazed pocket with the mini chocolate chips. This was my go too as a teenager and I will say I have never seen another donut like in any other establishment. I guess it's similar to a chocolate filled but they bake the mini chocolate chips into the center rather than filling it with a chocolate crème or whatever and I have to say it's just way better that way. Amazingly fresh, fluffy, and honestly a great value! Each donut was like $2.50 I think which here in denver those prices would be double for a subpar donut.
