El Taco Asado has finally broken the curse. Finally a great and consistent taqueria in this town. I…read morehave been going here once or twice a week since they opened and there is not a single item on their menu that I've had that wasn't great. There's been an off-night or two but they're still batting like .959. My younger daughter used to dislike Mexican food in this town so much she'd order chicken nuggets or a burger and fries when we got Mexican. Now she enthusiastically requests a Carne Asada super burrito from El Taco Asado. My other daughter gets a bean rice and cheese burrito which even for a simple item, are made with perfect tecchnique and are delicious. While all the meats are the best in town, the Al Pastor is on another level and the best I've had anywhere. I used to stay away from Al Pastor because few places do them the real way on a trompo. Taco Asado does and they're melt in your mouth delicious. If their meat weren't already putting them on a level above the rest in town, the salsas would. They can vary in heat level and flavor with each visit but they're always awesome. I tget one of each and whatever is hitting the best that night is what I'm drenching my tacos with. And if you like pico de gallo, they do that great too. My go-tos are the super burrito and street tacos. The grilled tacos, especially the shrimp, are nice to mix it up a little sometimes but it's hard to pry me away from those perfect Al Pastor street tacos. Here's the kicker: Their burritos and tacos are some of the best priced in town. Let's keep them busy and keep it that way.

Real authentic - recommend the taco dinner plate. Tasty and good sized portions. Try them out you…read morewon't be disappointed

I had some very delicious tacos here, and a breakfast burrito. I'd definitely come back. And from…read morewhat I heard, this place is recognized as the best Mexican spot around Redding. I came here for dinner and also to get a breakfast burrito for an early morning the next day. The tacos were great, good size and full of meat, perhaps a smidge pricey at ~$5 after tax and tip each, but still delicious. The lengua (tongue) was tender and meaty, cooked the way it should be. The tripas though were the stand out - crispy, smoky, rich... I might get just these next time. If you haven't tried this before, don't be squeamish - they don't taste like offal, they don't have a weird texture, they are just delicious. The tortillas were also great, thin and chewy and just strong enough to hold onto the ingredients while you ate. It should also be noted that they have free and unlimited chips and salsa. And the salsas are quite tasty, the salsa verde being my favorite. The super breakfast burrito was eaten cold at around 5 am the next morning, so obviously it wouldn't be fair to judge it like I had it fresh. But it was well constructed, very well sized, and had plenty of egg and bacon in it. It was good even if not eaten at the optimal time and temperature. The restaurant is located next to a sushi bar (which I am too scared to try given Redding's inland location) and has a big parking lot. They take credit cards and bring the food to your table. Whether you're a local or just visiting this place is definitely worth a visit.

No wait staff, order at the counter and an employee will bring food over . They make their own corn tortillas on weekends only . Self service salsa / tortilla chips bar . California burrito with any choice of protein & fries , oohhh combine with the generous cheese pull was good . The menudo was okay for me , it lacks savory flavor , stock is light not thick like other places I've been to. Equal amounts of hominy and tripe. I appreciate the fresh cilantro and extra chopped onions along with the dried oregano . The super taco lengua , asada and fish , fish were so salty and in bits of pieces , lengua cooked tender , beef taste was alright , each has an abundance of lettuce, sour cream, salsa , cheese .
