We camped here for two nights while we explored Gettysburg. The leaves were in color and the campground was really lovely. The facilities were clean, the sites are level and the staff friendly and helpful. It was a plus that we were able to fill our propane tanks here instead of making a special excursion, there's lots to see and do in Gettysburg. My only gripe was that most of the Campground is gravel, no pavement so the rains made it very muddy. Still, I highly recommend!

As someone who Yelps and takes my experiences and comments seriously it's with great disappointment that I feel I must leave such a negative review. We were eagerly looking forward to our trip to Gettysburg and this campground for weeks; both being places we have never visited before. With "resort" in the name and looking at their social media and online presence I felt this campground would be a good fit for us. I liked the themes and attractions this campground brought every weekend and overall it seemed like an outgoing, very involved, family oriented campground. Upon arrival we initially were very happy with our placement in the B section. It didn't have a wooded feel and it was close to store, pool, rec center, and an arc playground. Traveling with a toddler we always request to be near the attractions as my preferred mode of transportation is my own two feet and a stroller. After a few attempts to get in our site, with a downward slope and between two trees it was obviously we weren't going to fit without ripping the ac from the roof and never getting level. I went to the office and the maintenance man instructed us to park longways against the gravel path. It still took some maneuvering to get level on the top of the slope so imagine our dismay when we went to hook up to utilities and couldn't find sewer. A quick look at the map proved this site indeed did not have sewer, Something we would have never agreed to at this price point. The office quickly made it right and gave us a site with sewer but it didn't have cable. Although they never fully acknowledged it was their fault as we had requested full hook up and that's what I thought I got when booking. Either way they were extremely nice about it and waived the additional fee (gasp - we were already paying $60 a nite!). Our new site however was as far as you could get from the amenities and up a hill with large rock gravel requiring us to get in the car every time as stroller travel was near impossible. Right away I noticed a large dead tree with an X on it, and another 2 feet away from our bedroom that was completely hollowed out. That night a severe thunderstorm hit the area with 60 mile an hour winds, rain, and some hail. To say I was terrified is as understatement. So scared in fact that I contemplated leaving and driving home but decided that was probably as dangerous as the trees so decided to stay. We "barely" slept in the living area as the hollow tree was too close for comfort to our bedroom. The next day I mentioned something to maintenance and he came out and took a look. While he agreed the X tree was dead and needed to come down he claimed the hollow one was fine. Little did I know just how bad the tree population here was until later on the hayride taking a tour of the campground did I see all the dead trees. A lady on the ride who comes here often said they never take down trees and they are extremely lucky no one has died yet. A peak at the Facebook reviews for this campground after I got home also made mention of the dead trees. Beside the tree situation there were other things that fell short. Two fishing ponds (that we saw no one catch fish, ourselves included) but a store that doesn't sell worms, a pool with only a port a potty as the bathroom, grass in the field and pond that needed mowed. Overall this place didn't feel as tended to as it should have been. The sites were in need of a weed wacking, the playareas were from the 1960's and not toddler friendly, lack of parking at the store and rec hall. The arc play area was more modern but the sand surrounding it saturated with tunnel boring bees. The paddle boat pond looked so neglected and overgrown with algae we avoided it all together. I didn't see any bathhouses and the few seasonal sites there were so neglected and abandoned it was no wonder they were unoccupied. No cable at our campsite and only wifi at the office. The hay ride was hazardous to get in and out of it and the operator provided no assistance. This was the first hayride I was ever on that didn't have bales, only a thin layer of hay across the floor. I could go on and on... Another issue was the lack of security. The one night we were forced to leave at 3 am to make a Walmart run for medication. There was no security system in place to come or go and I got the feeling that there was no staff on the premises overnight. On the positive side the staff was extremely friendly. There were a number of activities but participation was slim. I think because there isn't alot of seasonals this place doesn't have a strong sense of community. The weekend of our stay a petting zoo came to visit and that was nice but their time was very limited. Bingo was fun and by donation but prizes were lame. I liked that they had a gameroom and a cafe, although the ice cream prices were high. Sadly this place didn't make it to our list of places we'd stay again and were elated to leave.

Stayed here last month for Bike Week. Plenty of room to move around, RV and tent sites, water, electrical outlets for recharging, snack shop w/tables, dedicated covered music stage, facilities, pool, lake, etc... Basically everything and not too far from Gettysburg. Overall satisfied.

    Back soon!

We have used the cabins for 12 years now for October Halloween weekend, and on our perhaps 5th annual Memorial Day camping trip. All with friends, kids, and dogs. We have never had a negative experience. Even in severe weather bringing down electricity, the staff has always been tip top!

Mini golf spot, arcade games room, nice pool, cabins to rent and let's talk about their camping store...it had everything you could possibly want in there! And I'm not joking! From camping stuff to little swimmers for toddlers and Gettysburg merch. Just everything! BONUS - they have an ice cream parlor! Ahhhh! Good selection of flavours with your choice of a waffle/sugar cone or cup. Deeeelightful! Staff are so friendly and John (I think that's his name) is hilarious! We felt so welcomed. Thank you. I've never been to Cunningham Falls before and the idea of seeing a waterfall seemed lovely. However, the accessible boardwalk has strips on pretty much everything board which made me feel like I was riding a very angry horse. Each bump shot pain up my spine. I'm writing this a day later and I still hurt, and I think I'm a pretty tough chick... and the view of the falls was mostly blocked and not worth the actual pain. The Falls is more like a small stream of water that splashes down some rocks. It's a soothing noise but I was expecting something more grandiose... I suppose I could blame climate change. Most of the old stream beds are dry. We also checked out the "south beach" which I enjoyed. There's plenty of pavement, and packed gravel. I couldn't get close to the water, but that's okay because it was a sunny day and I prefer to stick to the shade. I was impressed by the fact that every picnic table has a grill nearby. If I lived closer I'd like to think I'd come to the south beach often, hide in the trees near the river, grill something delicious... but I was a several hours long trip from Dundalk, so it's unlikely that I'll return. It was a nice day-trip though. I don't regret going.

There was excessive screaming, loud music, and disruptive behavior that continued well past midnight, making it extremely difficult for families and young children to enjoy the holiday weekend. Even more concerning was the apparent lack of response to enforce quiet hours or address the ongoing noise issue. This does not reflect the family atmosphere many guests would reasonably expect during a holiday weekend. I strongly encourage management to take these complaints seriously and enforce campground rules consistently to ensure all guests can enjoy their stay. Definitely our best KOA stay! Our family of four, plus our Boston Terrier, stayed in a two room camping cabin. It was great because my husband and I had our own room and space, and our boys (10 and almost 12) had their own too. It was SWELTERING hot this week, but thankfully our cabin had an AC in the back room and ceiling fans in both rooms, which kept us nice and cool. It also had a decent sized mini fridge, which allowed us to eat at the cabin a majority of meals and cut down on food cost. It's an absolutely beautiful location outside of downtown Gettysburg. Our cabin was secluded and situated at the end of a path, so even though we had neighbors, no one was walking by/through our site at all (which can be really frustrating when you're crammed like sardines at other campgrounds). At night we'd sit by our campfire and watch the fireflies. I've never seen so many in my life; The trees around our site looked like they were twinkling with lights every night. I brought our dog for a walk early one morning and even saw a deer in one of the empty camper sites. It couldn't have been more than 20 feet from me, eating from one of the bushes. Just an overall gorgeous and serene place. Our boys also had a fantastic time. There was so much for them to do! They did a magic workshop and saw a magic show, did movie and popcorn nights at the pavilion, listened to Civil War ghost stories, swam, played mini golf/shuffleboard, mined for gems, rode the funky bikes, jumped on the jump pad, played on the playground, played jumbo chess/jenga/connect 4, made some great friends, and the list goes on... Because it is a fairly small and quiet campground, we felt safe letting them walk to and from these activities. It allowed us to give them more independence and trust, which we all enjoyed. We've been at campgrounds where there were adults up partying, being loud/drunk, blasting music into the wee hours of morning. To our relief, this KOA had none of that! It was very family friendly. But above all else, the entire staff was so warm and welcoming from the moment we arrived. We were always greeted with a smile and friendliness. This is a perfect example of what a KOA should be!! Our family was very sad to be packing up and leaving today, but I have no doubt that we will be back in the near future. Thank you all for making our week in Gettysburg so wonderful! :)

I stopped by on a warm, sunny October Sunday morning while in the area for the National Apple Harvest Festival (about 30 minutes away), and somehow had the whole place to myself. It was so peaceful--just the sound of leaves rustling in the breeze and the occasional thud of acorns falling from the trees. The walk in is short and easy--basically a flat stroll past a couple of informational signs to reach the boulder outcropping. From there, the fun begins! Hammonds Rocks is about 400 feet long, with massive stone formations to climb, wander, and explore. I spent about 45 minutes hopping from stone to stone, taking photos, and checking out different angles of the formations. Even without climbing, there are plenty of spots to enjoy the view, though the tall trees do block some of it. Still, with the leaves just starting to turn to their fall colors, it was absolutely beautiful. The info signs are worth a pause, too--they really put things into perspective. One noted that when the sediments making up these rocks were deposited, the spot where I was standing was on the shore of a great ocean...530-600 MILLION years ago. Wild. Absolutely mind blowing! As for access: don't panic when Google Maps tells you the next few miles are unpaved. The gravel road is manageable if you take it slow and keep an eye out for some monster ruts. (Speaking from experience: this 40-something woman in her beloved Alfa Romeo made it just fine.) Just don't attempt in winter without knowing what you're getting into--the roads aren't maintained in snow or ice. Overall, Hammonds Rocks is an easy, low-effort, high-reward stop.
