We had a GREAT time at this KOA! Our reservation was easy and straightforward. Upon arrival, our cabin matched the description and we had 4 parking spaces for the group. The Bunkhouse holds up to 20 in bunk beds with a small common room which had a full sized fridge, TV, and dining table. Everyone was very nice and there were lots of children and pets and although we had a group of all adults, we never felt overrun by kids. The only problem we ran into was the bathrooms were not always clean and one of the stalls in the ladies room was down for about 24 hours. The camp site was clean, firewood could be delivered and the coffee shop/general store had almost everything you could ask for. The Halloween themed activities were a big hit and we ran to Walmart to purchase candy for trick or treaters and decorations. We will definitely visit again!

My adult son and daughter and I stayed in a basic cabin for 2 nights over the weekend hoping it would be dark enough in the area to view the Perseid meteor shower (it was) and to check out the local history (incredibly touching and unforgettable). I was pleasantly surprised at how nice this cabin was. It was a log cabin, modern, with electricity, a tv, air conditioning, and an electric heater. We had a small refrigerator, coffee maker, and microwave, futon bed, and bunk bed with a full lower bunk. Since we had our own bathroom, I did not need to check out the bathhouse but my son said it was nice. The staff were very pleasant and accommodating. The campground itself is pristine and beautiful. I would not hesitate to stay here again or to recommend to anyone.

I would like to rant about the immaculate, air conditioned bath house...just lovely! Nice and clean and well maintained. The best bath house we have seen on our road trip. There's a cool creek next to the campground. They have a really nice playground for the children and a large seating area next to it. All lit up at night with beautiful string lights. Mini golf spot, arcade games room, nice pool, cabins to rent and let's talk about their camping store...it had everything you could possibly want in there! And I'm not joking! From camping stuff to little swimmers for toddlers and Gettysburg merch. Just everything! BONUS - they have an ice cream parlor! Ahhhh! Good selection of flavours with your choice of a waffle/sugar cone or cup. Deeeelightful! Staff are so friendly and John (I think that's his name) is hilarious! We felt so welcomed. Thank you. A bit of a mixed bag for me at Cunningham Falls…read more.. I was excited to find a listing of parks that supposedly had wheelchair accessible trails. I've never been to Cunningham Falls before and the idea of seeing a waterfall seemed lovely. However, the accessible boardwalk has strips on pretty much everything board which made me feel like I was riding a very angry horse. Each bump shot pain up my spine. I'm writing this a day later and I still hurt, and I think I'm a pretty tough chick... and the view of the falls was mostly blocked and not worth the actual pain. The Falls is more like a small stream of water that splashes down some rocks. It's a soothing noise but I was expecting something more grandiose... I suppose I could blame climate change. Most of the old stream beds are dry. We also checked out the "south beach" which I enjoyed. There's plenty of pavement, and packed gravel. I couldn't get close to the water, but that's okay because it was a sunny day and I prefer to stick to the shade. I was impressed by the fact that every picnic table has a grill nearby. If I lived closer I'd like to think I'd come to the south beach often, hide in the trees near the river, grill something delicious... but I was a several hours long trip from Dundalk, so it's unlikely that I'll return. It was a nice day-trip though. I don't regret going.

There was excessive screaming, loud music, and disruptive behavior that continued well past midnight, making it extremely difficult for families and young children to enjoy the holiday weekend. Even more concerning was the apparent lack of response to enforce quiet hours or address the ongoing noise issue. This does not reflect the family atmosphere many guests would reasonably expect during a holiday weekend. I strongly encourage management to take these complaints seriously and enforce campground rules consistently to ensure all guests can enjoy their stay. Families considering visiting during Easter weekend should be aware that this has been an ongoing issue.

I stopped by on a warm, sunny October Sunday morning while in the area for the National Apple Harvest Festival (about 30 minutes away), and somehow had the whole place to myself. It was so peaceful--just the sound of leaves rustling in the breeze and the occasional thud of acorns falling from the trees. The walk in is short and easy--basically a flat stroll past a couple of informational signs to reach the boulder outcropping. From there, the fun begins! Hammonds Rocks is about 400 feet long, with massive stone formations to climb, wander, and explore. I spent about 45 minutes hopping from stone to stone, taking photos, and checking out different angles of the formations. Even without climbing, there are plenty of spots to enjoy the view, though the tall trees do block some of it. Still, with the leaves just starting to turn to their fall colors, it was absolutely beautiful. The info signs are worth a pause, too--they really put things into perspective. One noted that when the sediments making up these rocks were deposited, the spot where I was standing was on the shore of a great ocean...530-600 MILLION years ago. Wild. Absolutely mind blowing! As for access: don't panic when Google Maps tells you the next few miles are unpaved. The gravel road is manageable if you take it slow and keep an eye out for some monster ruts. (Speaking from experience: this 40-something woman in her beloved Alfa Romeo made it just fine.) Just don't attempt in winter without knowing what you're getting into--the roads aren't maintained in snow or ice. Overall, Hammonds Rocks is an easy, low-effort, high-reward stop. Whether you're climbing, photographing, or just taking in the history and scenery, it's a great way to spend part of your day in Michaux.
