I was in Milford, and figured that before I get on 495, to fill up here since Milford is so awesome with the "Full Serve Law". I actually don't understand why every town in Massachusetts doesn't have the "Full Serve Law". Seriously.... why would anyone actually want to fill up their gas tank themselves? It just doesn't make sense. Plus, anyone who does patronize those places that are self serve are taking jobs away from unemployed people. I would seriously feel guilty if I owned a gas station and didn't have it full serve. Anyway, this station fights with Mobil across the way on Route 85, but I'll still be coming here. The prices are lower and the amenities are greater. Now, this station doesn't have a great convenience store. If you are in need of a convenience store Mobil is your best shot. However, if you need an oil change, minor car repair, or even a propane tank, they've got your back too. Good prices and lots of services. No car wash, but between the other four in town, you'll find another place nearby. Would be great if a full convenience store was added here, but overall, I really like Granite Gulf and the "independent" feel of the shop, even though Gulf is a chain gas station (always good to see franchises!). 4 stars for Granite Gulf in Milford. read more

Wife's car broke down outside of station. She pulled over into their lot. Called AAA and the wait was over an hour. Since there was an infant and the outside temperature was around 4 degrees we moved someplace warm and the tow truck driver said we did not have to be there for the tow. We chose to have it towed because several locals plus bad reviews made us think this was not an ideal place. Plus no one at this site came out to help a new mother with an infant on this cold morning. When driver came to tow our car someone at the station told him it could not leave because we owed them storage fees. I explained the situation and they did not seem to care. I told him I would be right there. But tow truck driver was turned away and now we are waiting yet another hour. I guess anything for a quick buck these days. read more

I was told by another repair shop that I needed a $1000 repair. I brought it to Granite Gulf for an estimate. Cory and team correctly diagnosed the repair and fixed it for under $150. Have already made plans to have our other vehicle serviced with them. Great family run business!! read more

I've been going to Granite Gulf for about 5 years now. I continue to depend on their honesty and quality work for our vehicles. Brad Kaye, the owner, his son Cory, the other mechanics and manager Carla are all great to the customers and frankly we'd be stuck in a tough position without a great local repair shop like Granite Gulf because dealerships are the worst. They never do unnecessary work, their work is good quality and they do not overcharge. They also stand behind their work and parts if a problem does happen. read more

I had been traveling for over 2 weeks with a small leak in one tire.. finally, I had it checked out in Mulford. It wasn't a simple hole to plug. Instead, my 2009 Nissan had a corroded sensor. I was concerned it would take forever to get the part and fix it. But, the people at Granite worked fast! While I sat in the waiting room (with my dog), watching tv, and working on my laptop, they got the part and promptly fixed the issue. One day later, 160 miles away, the car seems to be fine... Overall, the people at Granite were polite, the 2 mechanics involved seemed knowledgeable, and the price wasn't out of line.. (I know what parts and labor run these days)... Double charged me because of a problem with the gas pump reader. Guy told me if it shows up twice. I checked online later that day, and saw it was twice, so I went back, and the guy was like "can you prove it?" Same guy that was super friendly when it happened was a stonewall when I needed money back. I did get it, but had to convince him. Never go here. read more

I am from CT. My daughter was on her way to Cape Cod when her car broke down on 495 south. I called Arts towing who towed the car and brought it to Granite City Gulf for repairs. The owners of Art's Towing also own Granite City Gulf. I am delighted to say that we were treated very fairly and not taken advantage of because we were from out of town and at their mercy. We received immediate and exceptionally professional service on both the tow and the repairs and most refreshing and appreciated was, we were not taken advantage of. I came in yesterday to have a leak in my tire looked at and possibly repaired. That is all I came in for. Not only was nobody able to find and repair a leak, but I was told it could have just been the sensor or the weather affecting the reading. I had filled the tire to 35 and it dropped down to 24 by the next day, and 18 two days later. All my other tires remained at 35. That is not a faulty sensor, it is a leak. My oil was also magically changed without my permission as well. I'm aware I was due for an oil change, however I specifically did not ask for one because in order to keep the extended warranty on my engine, I am required to get my oil changes done at the dealership I purchased my car from. So not only was work done on my car that I DID NOT ASK FOR, but my warranty is now void. The guy filled my tires all to 32 and not even 24 hours later, the tire I was concerned about is back down to 20. Did anyone even look for a leak or did you just decide to change my oil instead to make a quick buck out of me? So now I still have a leaky tire, new oil that I did not ask for, and a voided warranty. Thanks fuckers! read more

I had my car towed there. The timing belt was gone. They gave me a price to fix the car and I accepted the price on the condition it would be fixed. They then ordered $300 worth of parts and told me they could not fix the car and I would need to pay for the parts. They insisted the parts store would not take the parts back. My wife called the parts supplier and they said they would have no problem taking the parts back and they explained this to Granite Gulf. I guess it was more important for Granite Gulf to make some money on the markup on the parts then to be honest about the situation and help out a customer. This type of behavior is unprofessional and I would not recommend doing business there. read more

We broke down on 495. I found these guys through an internet search in a bind. I called Art's Towing (same owner) and the woman was very rude. "Did you leave the keys"? No, I didn't leave the keys in a disabled car on the side of an Interstate... She quoted me $100 to tow it to their location. Next morning I see a charge of $150 on my credit card. I was told since they didn't have the keys it was "hard to tow" and she added $50... So, I certainly was not going to get it repaired there. I asked to have it towed home. I will have my own mechanic look at it. She then adds $20 more... After already hitting my credit card for $150 and less than 24 hours after they towed it there. So I have Art's Towing tow it home. $66 more for a total of $236. I paid at 1:15pm (they require everything pre-paid) and they told me that they would have the next available driver take it. We got the car at 9:05pm. After 3 calls to them and 3 calls to AAA. AVOID these clowns. read more

Brought my own genuine new Toyota OEM brake pads and shims to GRANITE GULF in Milford on 7/24 for front brake pad replacement on a 2006 Lexus. The pads were not completely worn, but nearing the point of replacement. Was quoted $139 for labor (1.5 hours) by the owner. Seemed reasonable, and slightly less expensive than a Lexus dealer. Wouldn't you know, they called about an hour later claiming the "calipers were frozen" and needed to be heated with a torch. Price is now $165. Arrived at GRANITE GULF to pick up the car later in the day, and was handed a bill for $200 which now included various fees, taxes, etc. When I asked for an explanation, the owner explained he's "been there for a long time." Not sure what that means. The large woman (family member) who handed me the bill was rude, as well, when I asked for further explanation on the price increase. But, I would not recommend seeking any auto repairs from GRANITE GULF as your quoted price will certainly not be what you end up paying. Try adding 50% to your final bill. And, GRANITE GULF'S gasoline prices are higher than average; recommend driving 2 miles further into the center of Milford and save 10-12 cents a gallon. Bypass GRANITE GULF (a small family-run business) for auto repairs and gasoline. The new brakes? They seem to be OK. read more
