I agreed and was then advised it would cost $149.00 just for someone to come to my house. I mentioned the email about the free estimate but was told I'd have to pay. I cancelled the appointment. I had no plan to try to get information from you and fix it myself. We have been so screwed over by so many companies in the Valley.. guess this is another to add to the list... heating wasn't working, called these guys. Was given a 2pm-4pm window.. only to be told it would now be from 5-7... 6ish and they came... took a good hour and a half for things to be fixed. Tech told us it was the a wiring thing, wasnt set right.. etc... $200 later and he was on his way.. now we cant get our unit to even shut off.. our nest thermostat, brand new had some error saying it has no power. I ended up calling another company and they told me my system had been sabotaged. There were obvious razor cuts in the lines and they replaced a part that did not even belong in the unit. $500 and they couldn't even unclog my drain. $149 for a "diagnostic fee" to show up to unclog a drain. After the 25 foot long snake failed to succeed the tech said he could go get a longer one. After almost an hour he showed up with a 50 foot long snake that stii couldn't reach the clog. He never said there was any specific fee for the 50 foot snake. Then he recommended using a camera followed by a 100 foot snake on another day since it wasn't presently working. He said there would be a separate fee for the camera and for the 100 foot snake. I recently had the line video taped so I knew that was a waste of time since it was fine in general. I then asked what the bill was for the one visit expecting a reasonable charge for his time. Instead he said there was a fixed $350 charge for the 50 foot snake. So it cost $500 and I still have a clogged drain. If I'd agreed to the camera and 100 foot snake it would have come to $1,200 and still they might not have cleared the simple clog. What a ripoff! read more

We were having trouble with our tankless water heater so we called and made an appointment. Jack and Sam worked diligently to try to find the problem and spent a good part of the day to fix the unit. They even called the manufacturer trying to find the problem. Finally we determined we could work through the various suggestions by the manufacturer (and possibly still not fix it) or buy a new unit. It was 8+ yrs old so we opted for a new unit. We ordered and Jack and Sam were Back to install. Really good people and customer service was perfect. We would highly recommend this company for your servicing needs. read more

My neighbor called and said my air-conditioning system was making an awful noise so loud that he could hear it from next-door. I drove down Sunday evening thinking I was going to leave a message on your voicemail instead I got an actual real person that answered. He was actually on duty technician, I explained my situation and in light of the current heat wave he scheduled me for 7 AM the next morning. My system required a condenser replacement (not a small job) The cooperation and teamwork I witnessed with this company is unbelievable. What a great team. Buyer beware, this company does not care about its clients. We bought a unit from Greg Granger in Summer 2019. Our AC is not cooling as it should now, so we contacted the company to take a look and they advised that it could be a leak. Since the company was purchased at the end of 2019 by Greg himself, they won't back any of their products/installs - his words. He specifically told us "he bought the assets, not the liabilities" from the previous owner. After a visit from his tech and a lot of time speaking to their office manager, who was rude and condescending, we were promised that they would come do a one-time fill up of our coolant. When the tech showed up for a second visit, he advised that we authorized payment of the services. Since we did not authorize the payment, we sent the tech away. Unfortunately, Greg is just as friendly as his office team and stated "If you had paid more attention when your child was climbing across the table during the contract signing, you would understand it." So sorry I have children! When I asked him about loyalty to clients and taking care of customers, he stated "I don't care." Clearly he has no interest in long term relationships with clients. Since they have no loyalty to us after spending thousands of dollars with them previously, we will be seeking advice and repairs elsewhere from one of the other companies in the valley who actually cares about backing their product and being polite and respectful to customers. The most concerning part about all of this is that although Greg sold us the unit, he will not back his own product. A-1 Service Heroes, more like A-1 Villain. Edit based on Greg's comments below: 1. You are not denying a lack of poor customer service or ownership of an issue with the product you sell (similar to every poor review you received and commented on). It is interesting that there is no ownership in your product and in fact shows that you will find any way to deny responsibility. 2. The issue with our A/C unit has nothing to do with maintenance and everything to do with the the equipment you sold to us. Even in extreme heat, I can't imagine an AC that could fail after less than 2 years of install. 3. Of course the "honey" disappears the moment your staff tells us you will not back your product or work under the "old" company, when in fact all you did was buy it behind closed doors and far from public view. You did not rebrand. You did not notify us of ownership change. Isn't that somewhere in your purchasing contract? Interesting that you back up the good, but deny any liability. If only all business owners could be that lucky ... but the good ones don't because they understand that those decisions impact families and those relationships keep businesses successful. 4. If "service guarantees" are really THAT important to your company, you would follow up with those who recently installed and were maybe busy with the family or life you conveniently threw back in my face to ensure you receive that annual plan sign up to maintain a warranty that you didn't mention in the first place. You are really missing the boat on getting that $140/year service fee from your customers to maintain their warranty if you aren't! 5. Your manager promised to have a tech come out for a one time refill on the coolant. Upon arrival, your tech advised that we already authorized a payment (which was never discussed - you should check your wiretap on Tuesday 7/6). I am not asking for free service or trying to hold you hostage as you so rudely mentioned below, I was simply asking for your team to keep their word and INTEGRITY. Even through that, we were willing to pay for the warranty that you never mentioned in our initial conversations and even share responsibility in the cost of any repairs. But you have no desire to work with customers who have already paid for your product and would rather badger and belittle them verbally and online until they acquiesce. 6. I am sorry you are biased against people with children. As a mother, your comments were hurtful and not something I would ever expect to hear from a reputable business owner. Maybe you are better served for a business without customers. read more

Just had a service call from A-1 Service Hero's, I have a maintenance contract with them and the did an annual maintenance check on my HVAC unit. I also had them change 2 cartridges in my bathroom faucet which took 10 minutes the charge was $98.00 and I had the parts so basically they charged me for time only and when you translate that cost into an hourly rate it means they charge almost $600.00 per hour. I can imagine what outrageous quotes the give innocent victims for services. They want to sell you everything under the sun that you probably don't need. On Saturday Morning, our A/C went out with temps in the 90's. We called for service through our home warranty program and A#1 Services was dispatched on the same day...what??? Yup same day! In over 40+ years of retailing/ service this business is one of the best. My AC went down and usually I would have called my Home Owners Policyholders. They call and assign a company to call me and then we set an appointment to look at the AC. It was 100 in the house and had to get my dog boarded as it was to hot for Her. So I made a call and was told to call A #1 and they were here in an hour. They had look at the problem and schedule an Appointment fo 8:00 the next morning. Sal was great. They brought a window AC so I did not have to find a place to stay. They called later that night to check on the window AC . They were here the next morning. One crew pulled the old AC and Heater and an other crew brought the new units. They finished around 4:30 . They were great. They cleaned the house, took me out and showed me all the work they did. By the time I went to pick up my dog I had talked to the office about the bill and had two other calls from the office checking on me and the new thermostat that they put in and showed me how to use. By the time of this call the house was a cool 78. The next am they called to thank me for my business and a second call to check the performance of the unit. I have also received three e mails that afternoon. So within about 24-30 hours we are at 78. What a great crew from the Tec to the owner and office . A#1 did a great job. The only issue I had was the $69 service fee, that they charge. Don't mistake it for $69 to be rolled into your cost for repair, it's actually for them just to come to your house. Yes, if you had a job for $100 your charged $169. Extremely deceptive! They get you with a low quote then jack up the price once they are there. The price was way out of line with the job, both the time it took to do the job and the expertise necessary to do the job. While they were initially the least expensive, it quickly rose to more than double of the highest of the other estimates. Poor quality job and an extremely unreasonably high costs. Our AC went out on a Wednesday, in the middle of July. We had an entire new system in on Thursday. WOW! A#1 Service Heroes are better than great. They're the BEST! When our AC went out, Gabe came to our house that same evening, and he gave us the news we knew was coming, we needed a new AC system. We have used A-1 since buying our home three years ago. We purchased a new construction home so everything was brand new. However, the furnace and a/c we're, shall we say, builder grade. Adequate, but the lowest cost big box store model available. The second summer the a/c wasn't keeping the house cool that prompted our first call to A-1. We were treated like long term customers and a technician was out the next morning and fixed the problem at a fair price. I inquired about their contract 2x / year system maintenance program and signed up immediately. Ever since then I have been impressed with the level of customer service and promises kept. Always on time, courteous and efficient technicians, understandable explanations, and reasonable fees. We've had two technical problems with the a/c and both were repaired for only the labor cost because A-1 handled all warranty issues on our unit.
