It's in the sketchy plaza across Markville and my sis warned me they're a bit aggressive and never on time for appointments. This was proven to be true as I waited 10-15 min- not too bad still. Christy is great, good with English and efficient. She did shave my cuticles by accident as she was shaving down the nail but only once or twice. They have lots of colours to choose from, powder or shellac or gel. Literally every cool nail thing you see on instagram, they have here - cat eye gel, holographic nails, chromes etc. She was super fast but good - gave me acrylics which ended up smooth but not super thick as most acrylics go. I prefer acrylics over gel because it's just stronger.. especially when you're dropping weights at the gym, ja feel? I've broken so many gel nails at the gym and I'm like ... y tho. These acrylics feel strong and durable AND they're affordable af. I paid $50 including tip. She also gives a nice little hand massage at the end, it's wonderful. I want to come back for a pedi! They have lots of staff and they also do walk-ins as well, which is why I think a lot of appointments are delayed.

Jo was my nail tech and she did an amazing job - it was one of those fancier places that take care of your cuticles and give you a hand massage + hot towels after. They make sure each client is satisfied and happy! She spent a long time on my cuticles and never hurt me once, which doesn't happen a lot with my usual nail techs. She was patient even when I changed my nail colour a few times after the colour combo didn't turn out as I thought. She made sure I was happy with each step as she asked me if everything was okay every time she added a colour or layer. She also did an amazing job - she put the gel so close to the cuticles and it looks absolutely gorgeous. I think they can do subtle patterns and stuff too, but they have a large colour selection. Having found many top notch nail salons in the downtown Toronto area, I was crossing my fingers that this salon would meet the standard. Happy to report that it definitely raised the bar. I saw another Yelper's freehand french manicure / glitter ombre design and requested to have that done on my nails. Rebecca was a pro and took the time to make my nails and the design look perfect. The Shellac polish and design was painted just above my cuticle to maximize longevity of my nails. This is something that is hard to find at most of the nail salons that I have been to. The ladies here are all very skilled and take the time to understand your preferences. My nails ended up turning out great and I received a ton of compliments on them from my friends. The price was extremely reasonable. For such a intricate design (this took over an hour to slowly freehand) it was only $40 before tax and tip. I will definitely be back and recommend this salon to anyone who is looking for a great manicure at a great price!

But I got a SERIOUS INFECTION from the last shellac manicure I received because the technician wouldn't take her time with my cuticles. She had me bleeding at her station and my finger was swollen and pussy for a week afterwards. It finally came down yesterday. This was totally avoidable and unprofessional and my technician knew it. Her work was shoddy because they were busy and she couldn't wait to get to her next customer. I had saved my visit for the weekend before my move but wish I hadn't bothered. Glad to be moving on.

I was looking for reviews online on google and here, and there is hardly anything available. So, I've decided to share my experiences here. Hopefully, they will be useful for someone. On Tuesday, I tried @ananekebeautysalon. I went there to get my Biogel manicure refill. They are in Yonge and Eglinton area. This place was recommended to me, and it had such good reviews on Yelp, and BlogTo. Plus, with a personal recommendation, I thought it was going to be my go-to nail salon. Maybe it's just my luck but this is not going to happen. I do not remember the name of my nail artist. Here is a list of things I didn't like. 1) She took forever to do my refill, literally over 1.5 hours. I don't do anything complicated on my hands. Usually, it's just a French manicure which I was getting this time. She kept messing up the white lines on top of the nails and redoing them. And then again. And again. And again. ‍ While I did appreciate the effort to get it right, this is the first time somebody had to redo several times half of my nails. By the end of it, I wasn't sure that the lady knew what she was doing. 2) The lady didn't file the edges of my nails properly. I didn't notice it in the salon, but I noticed it later that day when I was already on my way home. 3) She was doing such a bad job filing my nails and cut so much skin next to the nail bed on one of my fingers that it hurt for a few days. 4) On Friday, four days later, the white gel polish started chipping on several of my nails. This is ridiculous. This is biogel. It last forever and can survive alien invasion, nuclear war, and zombie apocalypse. This is the reason why I do it: biogel is the only thing that doesn't chip on my hands for three weeks. I don't know how this lady did it that it started chipping so early. Not a happy customer here. Sadly, after this experience I can not recommend this place to anybody. Please avoid it. ‍
