Oh, man! So I lost…read moremy mom recently. Feeling very grown about that. She bought me my first model. I stayed with it for a long time But you know... life. looking through our storage I found some Bandai Gundam PG kits I paid way too much for in Japan a decade or so ago. Amidst downsizing and such I figured why not finish/refurbish em? So I googled and made the drive! So great to find a model/hobby store that's BLACK OWNED! WHAT?! Lots of great stuff! funky layout with the buzzer but now that I get it... I get it! Already itching to go back. What a cool place. AND THEY GOT TAMIYA STUFF, FAM! I emptied my eBay cart. As a non-big-box dude, its great to stumble on a small-batch well-appointed spot with some history. 25 year?! Cool. Highly recommend. A biz partner lives around the corner so its Nice to have a reason to be late. the front of the shop is all tools. the back is steeped in every kind of Model and figurine a hobbyist would like. Worth a trip. Get your kid an old WWII bomber kit or something! Just kidding. Visit for yourself. P to the S: I don't know what that james dude is talkin bout but he sounds like he calls police. I love that neighborhood.

10 Reasons Why Berwyn's Toys & Trains is Super Cool…read more 10. Small independent business. 9. One whole side of the store is dedicated to serious train hobbyists and the model train display they have set up is really impressive. Working lights, train whistles, buildings and landmarks including the car spindle. 8. Huge collection of Thomas the Train trains, accessories and pretty much everything a Thomas the Train fan would love 7. Really nice selection of imaginative play toys--think legos, blocks, dolls, Playmobile, cars, trucks, farm animals. Less whistles and lights, more back to basics play 6. Friendly service. Offered a lot of information to me and my husband when we inquired about train tables 5. Clean and well laid-out 4. Reasonable prices. It's a bit pricier than big box stores but the selection of trains and cars is worth future visits 3. Three children's train tables set up to keep busy hands occupied (and gives the parents ideas on which trains are said child's favorites) 2. Not far from good eats 1. It's on Historic Route 66!

Service by male staff members/owners was horrible and rude. The Hot Wheels wheel sets are…read moreoverpriced as are the cars and stuff for maintaining toy trains. Paid over 86.00 for items that would've cost half that price at other nice looking Hobby stores. My son used to shop regularly here a few years ago, but no more. Last week we had my daughter's twelfth birthday party at Stencib's on Madison st. in Forest Park…read more Stencib is an artcraft/boutique type store that specializes in stenciling. The boutique sells clothing, boots, antiques etc that have been stenciled with unique original patterns and designs. Primarily though, Stencib functions as an art studio where you can obtain original art stencil patterns and design and all the materials to stencil your own objects, clothing, furniture, etc. You can stencil literally anything! So my daughter and five of her friends brought in t-shirts, jeans, Ug boots etc. for an afternoon of stenciling. The owner Linda provides a large work space along with original stencil designs, paint, rollers, and all the other appropriate materials. We brought in the cake and drinks and ordered pizza from across the street. Linda, Joe, and Kate also demonstrate and assist with the stenciling. It's really quite easy and the girls got it right away. And let me tell you the girls loved it. My daughter stenciled a pair of those drab Ug boots with a floral vine type pattern in green and yellow. The results were astounding. My eight year old daughter who is obsessed with sharks asked if they had any stencils with a shark design. Linda, an artist and designer, created by hand a stencil of a shark on the spot. My daughter stenciled a large scarf with happy sharks! Each girl also got to stencil a scarf that we purchased as part of the party package. One girl stenciled her scarf with a Christmas tree pattern to give to her mother as a present. Even my teenage son who was there just to hang out got caught up in it and bought a sweatshirt that he ended up stenciling. My wife is going back to stencil a red table cloth with a festive holiday pattern to use for thanksgiving. In short this a very cool boutique/art gallery to have a birthday party or really any kind of event gathering. The people there are quite helpful with great ideas. My daughter and her friends had a wonderful time and had some cool new clothing that they created to show for it. I recommend checking it out. I might even stencil my man cave!

There were a good amount of back issues I was interested in, but so many weren't bagged and boarded and were definitely beginning to show some shelf wear. The bigger issues, though, is that nothing is clearly organized by series--or even publisher. There had clearly been some attempts to sort things out, but without any major success. It was frustrating to say the least. The owner was nice and happy to talk to you, and his interactions with other customers of varying sorts were very friendly as well. Sadly, there was a very offering radio station playing the whole time I was there detailing 9/11 conspiracies and whether or not Hunter Biden should be in jail. The owner said it was really just 'background noise,' but it sort of started to weird me out a bit. Regardless, i found a few books I wanted and decided to head out. At checkout, I paid with cash and wasn't charged any additional sales tax--which I always appreciate.

**Extremely disappointing experience.**…read more This was my second consecutive bad experience at Hobby Lobby, but yesterday (8/26 around 5 PM) was the final straw. We were checked out by an employee named Oscar M, whose attitude made us feel extremely unwelcome. He rolled his eyes, shook his head, and acted as though assisting us was an inconvenience. We spent **over $200** at the store, but honestly, the experience was so unpleasant that we are now considering returning everything for a full refund. All of the items are still sitting in the bags at home. Customers should be treated with basic courtesy and respect, regardless of how much they're purchasing. It's incredibly disappointing to spend that kind of money somewhere and leave feeling unwelcome. Hobby Lobby needs to seriously address its customer service.
