Cool spot for a lazy Saturday afternoon. There are food trucks here to have a little lunch with your wine. Dog friendly spot. We don't have a dog but we like dogs so it's great this place allows dogs! Lots of outside seating to bring your crew. For today it's our first visit just for two. We have a table outside enjoying the fall air. And we got a flight of dry white wine and a flight of dry red wine. They have an open air little market or vendors where the food truck is. And there is a coffee truck too. Super cool spot to chill. On this weekend getaway. Staff is friendly and recommended the right wines for your plate! Good wine selection! You can bring your own snacks for your wine. And maybe bring another blanket to cuddle outside

We got here an hour before they closed, but even so we were able to soak in their relaxing vibes, sit by the river and enjoy our flight of wine. The place is really nice, they had live music when we got there, so a good time for sure. The service was very friendly, and they did everything in their best to help us make the right decision when purchasing some goodies to bring back home. What did we have? - Pinot Noir - Hair of the Dog - Zinfandel - Petite Sirah - Pinot Blanc - Sauvignon

Really neat place! We came in the fall on a chilly day and it was very busy. We were served quickly though and loved the selection of wines. I chose a reserve tasting and loved every bit of it. The venue was great and had a lovely vibe. I enjoyed walking through the vineyard even though it was dormant. Will definitely be back!

After Hurricane Helene decimated their property, I'm happy to say they have come back better than ever. We are here on a Monday afternoon with live music overlooking the grapevines carrying this year's harvest. There is more parking, more seating, more time to slow down and appreciate the life we've been given.

Fun vineyard we stopped by, right next to our Air Bnb (one of the most well-known in the area, with very high reviews). Very kid-friendly (LOTS of kids running around) and dog-friendly. Had live music for the first half hour we were there; was sad to see it was done so early in the afternoon! There is both uncovered and covered seating by the stage and vineyards, or you can sit by the stream. Wine itself didn't "wow" me, wasn't personally a fan of the taste (did NOT buy any bottles), but I appreciated that you could get a white, red, or rosé flight!

Great outdoor place to chill, relax, and listen to some music. There were plenty of tables under cover so you are not sitting out in the sun. The selections of wine were good. We had the red flight and got a bottle of our favorite - Big Boulder Red. It is an easy to drink red blend. You can bring your own food/snacks to enjoy with your wine. There was also a food truck and there was a tent where they were making fresh kettle popcorn! It is was very tasty with the right amount of salty/sweet to complement the wine. There was live music that was good. The service was good as well.

This was our second time visiting Grandfather Vineyard. When you first drive up, you park in a gravel parking lot and cannot see what to expect. There is a cute little bridge over a rocky stream that leads to the vineyard area itself. It's adorable. There was a food truck and a few tents with locally made items and clothing. There is seating near the stream, near the bandstand and near the main building. We ordered wine flights, one dry red and one bubbly flight. They were presented in a cute tiered rack. We ordered ham and cheese sandwiches, Brussel sprouts and a hot dog. The brussel sprouts were delicious. The sandwiches were filling. We also tried the frose's, which were tasty. We left with a nice bottle of red wine. The atmosphere is so relaxing. You can see the grapevines beyond the seating area. The band was playing great music. A lot of people brought their dogs. It was a great time.

A favorite spot to sit and relax while enjoying a great view of the grandest of mountains. Right along the river with plenty of space to chill. They always seem to have music or food trucks or something going on. Make it a must-stop.

Tucked away this little piece of heaven is a must if your up anywhere close enough to go! Between the water and the trees this winery is such a blissful place, wide open space outside, lots of different levels of seating. Such a great cozy feel. Live music, food trucks, snacks, and wine of course! I have to say their flights are their signature. They serve them on those cute stands with little wine glasses. The service was great inside, plenty of staff, actually would work here myself! We ended up with a couple of bottles of red and I had a glass of their Blue Ridge Brut. Both excellent bottles and I loved the dryness of the Brut. Beautiful wine glasses! Kid friendly and lots of dogs! It got super busy as the day was beautiful, so get there early to grab a great spot. I just loved the laid back feel of this place. Perfect spot for our afternoon in the mountains!

This is our go to winery! We love the ambiance with live music on weekends, mountain w grape vines on one side and the river flowing on the other side. They have tons of outdoor seating both covered and uncovered. Their wines are delicious and they now have wine spritzer cocktails as well as mimosa flights. On weekends, they have a food truck available but they also sell premade cheese boards and other snacks.

Our dog loved it as well

We were up staying in Boone and wanted a fun day trip/adventure. From the drive up and having the golf cart shuttle that was fabulous. The scenery was beautiful! Mountain views, river view and was just absolutely beautiful. Started off with the sparking flight and a delicious charcuterie pre made board. Then I tried the white flight and my boyfriend tried the sweet wine flight. Loved the frosé! They have this place in such order from when you walk into the tasting room. Someone there to help you and give you a menu and get stuff started. Also loved they had a food truck on site as well as a delicious homemade lemonade stand. Also the music was great!

Loved the winery especially sitting by the river and outside for some music. The wine is average but who cares when you're in such a beautiful spot

I first stumbled upon this place about 3 years ago when I drove from Boone with my dog exploring…read morethe area. I stopped in, brought him with me (they're dog friendly!) , and tasted some wines. Delicious! I've since been back many times, bringing my cousin, friends, parents, and boyfriend. Everyone loves the wine here! I am not a sommelier so I can't explain my reasons for liking wine or not, but it seems that literally every wine is delicious. I usually go for the flights which include small pours and a souvenir tasting glass. Last time I was here a few months ago, I think my boyfriend and I ordered 3 flights so that we could taste and share all 12 red, white, and blend wines. Good choice, and relatively inexpensive. The food here is also good. I don't think they have a standard menu, but I've tried both the pepperoni pizza and a BBQ sandwich meal from here. When ordering food initially, it was just meant to "hold us over" until we got to the next place. But hot damn, the food is seriously DELICIOUS. Trust me and order from here! Lastly, this location is in an old schoolhouse. There's a lot of history here and the folks are willing to share that with you. Just talk to them! I'll have to admit that the winery itself is not as nice on the eyes as some others nearby in terms of being fancy or chic or whatever... instead, the vibe is homey, quaint, and welcoming. Bring a friend or two, make the drive, and enjoy!

The only thing was that if you want to do a wine tasting set, they have you stand at the bar and pour one glass at a time. We much rather would have preferred to have the ability to sit down at a table and take our time with the wine.
