I first stumbled upon this place about 3 years ago when I drove from Boone with my dog exploring the area. I stopped in, brought him with me (they're dog friendly!) , and tasted some wines. Delicious! I've since been back many times, bringing my cousin, friends, parents, and boyfriend. Everyone loves the wine here! I am not a sommelier so I can't explain my reasons for liking wine or not, but it seems that literally every wine is delicious. I usually go for the flights which include small pours and a souvenir tasting glass. Last time I was here a few months ago, I think my boyfriend and I ordered 3 flights so that we could taste and share all 12 red, white, and blend wines. Good choice, and relatively inexpensive. The food here is also good. I don't think they have a standard menu, but I've tried both the pepperoni pizza and a BBQ sandwich meal from here. When ordering food initially, it was just meant to "hold us over" until we got to the next place. But hot damn, the food is seriously DELICIOUS. Trust me and order from here! Lastly, this location is in an old schoolhouse. There's a lot of history here and the folks are willing to share that with you. Just talk to them! I'll have to admit that the winery itself is not as nice on the eyes as some others nearby in terms of being fancy or chic or whatever... instead, the vibe is homey, quaint, and welcoming. A great find nearby while we were staying in the area. The wine was very good and the live band was wonderful to have accompanying the snacks. Great staff and a beautiful setting. The only thing was that if you want to do a wine tasting set, they have you stand at the bar and pour one glass at a time. We much rather would have preferred to have the ability to sit down at a table and take our time with the wine. read more

We enjoyed the wines. Nice selection of whites & reds. They do offer tasting flights. The big room has lots of tables spaced about. There are board games available to play while you are there. Out back is a new patio area with several fire pits. For a late fall day it would be nice to sit out around a fire in the sun & enjoy some wine. They have a small menu of pizzas if you want food. Nothing spectacular but a good size for the price. Some non-alcoholic options are available, but not many. read more

I'm only giving this 5 stars because I can't give it more! This was a really fun excursion for me! I was referring through east Tennessee and western North Carolina on a driving trip through the mountains. I had a day to spare in the area, so I looked up wineries to visit. This one came highly recommended, so I drove down from Bristol. The drive through the mountains around Wautauga Lake to get there was beautiful making the time it took to get there well worth the effort. The winery is located in an old school building which gives it a wonderful charm. When I visit wineries and shops, I like to explore flights if wine. This winery has a special where you can choose a flight of four wines from a list of 12 which also includes a souvenir wine glass. I selected a flight of reds and a flight of whites all named after local places or after their mascot--a black bear that greets you when you walk through the front door. The hostess (I am terrible with names, but she had just recently relocated to the area from Ohio) was super friendly and very knowledgeable about the wines she was presenting. It was a very relaxed atmosphere in the tasting room and a good way to spend an hour learning about the wines of the area. I left with a bottle each of red and white plus four more! This is a hidden treasure in the mountain foothills of Tennessee, and a stop that any wine connoisseur should put on the activity list when you are in the area! read more

Food's basic wood fired pizza, which can be burned on the crust. The live music is WAY LOUD EVERY TIME, and they won't turn it down.

Everything about our visit here was perfect. The wine flight gave us an opportunity to taste several of the wines. The staff did a fantastic job explaining each wine. They were super patient with us as we had someone with vision issues who needed help reading the wine menu. We enjoyed a flat bread pizza and the pub cheese as we drank our wine. Food was well prepared and very tasty! The live music topped off our visit perfectly. read more

We really wanted to love this place. Dog friendly, beautiful new patio under construction. Lovely setting, friendly people (both of them). I think it would be a great place to buy a bottle, drink it on the patio, and maybe take a pizza home with you. But we went there for pizza and margarita slush. No water, no napkins, no hot peppers...just abandoned out on the patio. I've never seen a smaller margarita...maybe 6 ounces? Husband ordered a ginger ale. Came in a can. He asked for a glass which was brought...with no ice. When we paid, we were informed the price had gone up $1 on the margarita and was now $8 but they hadn't gotten time to change the 7 to an 8 on the chalk board 10 feet away. This is a Beautiful Setting. The staff was attentive and friendly. The cheese basket was good with grapes, cheese, nuts, and fresh bread. There was live music provided by Ace Suggs who did requests and spoke with all the people. We had a Great time !!! read more

Not sure I'd call this a "winery". The wine isn't great. Some were OK. Food was school cafeteria tier. Makes sense because it's literally a schoolhouse. The people were friendly and accommodating and the price was a BARGAIN. Overall don't regret the outing, but not a must-return. read more

This is the second time we have attempted to get wine with no success. Both times, we were the first people seated in the tasting room. The host continued to seat the other people and fill the room up. She then went on to serve wine club members who were checking out, took wine orders from other patrons, but never took our order. We left. We do not plan to return. read more
