Do not get hung up on their hamburger signs; this place offers elegance and ambiance. We sat outside overlooking the lake and had amazing soup, biscuits and burnt ends with honey. Absolutely delicious! The resort is beautiful and I would definitely return to sample more of the menu. read more

We had a lovely dinner. Tyler was our waiter and very attentive. My husband ordered Parmesan encrusted wallet with wild rice pilaf and I had Swedish meatballs with lingonberry sauce. Both were delicious. The wait was short and the view exceptional- looking right over the lake. This has to be one of the best restaurants on the shore with good food AND a view!!! read more

I love a good smash burger and twice cooked fry. We came in with small kiddos and the staff was very accommodating.

Dinner reservation for 9 over MEA weekend staying nearby. Reservation process worked well, seated reasonably quickly, and the host was welcoming. My Old Fashioned was very mid, switched to beer rather than ordering another. Service was slow, but friendly. I'm guessing they were understaffed and it was a very busy weekend. Food was average. We started with the brussel sprouts which were good, and the cheese curds, which were not. I had the Castle Danger Club, and it was okay - serviceable. Others reported the food was "fine" and "good". We were a large group, and while a bit slow, they handled it well. I recommend giving them a try. read more

We spent $120 for the most expensive appetizer (for one person) you could ever order. DO NOT pay for their "snow globe experience". The fondue appetizer was there, but in the table outside before we arrived and under an inadequate heater so the food was cold - as was the entire short lived experience. The wine flight was there, but it was church wine. We did not have the s'mores because we chose to leave after 30min due to the lack of heat. The fondue meal was for one person at best (see pic). The fondue bowl had a broken pretzel in it and we presume from the previous guests (ew!). The snow globe was so inefficiently heated, we chose to leave without finishing after 30min. Unbelievably, the waitress admitted she was questioning whether it was warm enough with the first group... we could see our breath. It's hard to find a nice dining restaurant around this area. There are not a lot of options close by, so this place stood out. It is located on the resort right on the north shore. We did not make reservations but they do recommend it. It was 4:30 on a Saturday evening and it was pretty quiet. Inside, all seats will give you a beautiful view of Lake Superior. It was very nice and peaceful inside. The menu has a great variety for all the picky eaters out there. We both went for the walleye dinner. It sounded too good to pass up. It was that and so much more. The herb seasoning over the parmesan breading was so good!! It was all so delicious and highly recommend getting this dish. We also splurged and got vanilla cheesecake with a strawberry drizzle. A great way to recharge and end a long day of hiking! read more

We were visiting the Northshore, and staying at the Grand Superior for a couple of nights. We were going to get pizza delivered, but they don't this far out of town. So, we decided to have dinner at the resort restaurant. I'm so glad we did because the food was delicious, and better than I expected it to be. The white fish sandwich was so good, and the homemade kettle chips. My husband ordered the reuben, and said it was the best one he has had. The meat was braised in a castle danger beer from the brewery near by. Our waitress in the evening was pleasant, and kept our drinks filled. We had a flat tire while on our trip, so we ended up also having breakfast here the next morning. It was pretty good, but the biscuits and gravy could have had more sausage in it. The service was a little slow compared to the night before, and it wasn't even busy. I loved the view of the Lake Superior while we enjoyed our breakfast though. read more

Although there aren't many options in this area when you're looking for dinner... I would avoid Grand Superior Grill/Lake Superior Burger Company. We visited April 2025, the view and atmosphere is nice... but my Crispy Chicken Sandwich was less than Applebees quality, I actually genuinely probably could have gotten a better sandwich at Wendy's. I ended up sending this meal back as I bit into chicken in multiple spots that was all cartilage... Quite revolting. However I will give credit to the waitress -- she did not charge me for this or the alternative meal I got (chicken wild rice soup). Kudos to them for the customer service and recognizing that. But for real... You will be paying a lot for very subpar food and you'd be better off making the trip into the town of Two Harbors. read more

You know when you stand there and wait for someone to come seat you and you wait and wait and wait. Yeah, that. I had to get the hotel clerk to go find someone for the restaurant. Then, once I was seated, it took awhile to be able to order my food. The "double" burger was, in fact, two patties, technically. Two paper thin patties but nonetheless two. And what's the deal with places squishing their burgers nowadays? And stop coating your fries in cornstarch or flour or whatever. It feels like I'm eating crumbs. Not a good flavor or texture. And bring me a bottle of freaking ketchup. Not a dipping cup. I felt like Oliver Twist, " Please, sir, may I have some more?" GIVE ME THE BOTTLE! First time eating at Grand Superior Grill today. They DO have outdoor/patio seating however it rained today so we sat inside. It wasn't too busy for lunch around noonish. They do have designated tables that they leave empty in order to social distance. The host also assured us that they only allow up to 50% capacity because of COVID. I ordered their North Shore Walleye sandwich (pictured here) and it is my new favorite!! The fish was cooked to perfection! The cheese just strung along with every bite. The bacon was absolutely wonderful! Perfect crisp! My friends got the Bacon Cheddar Burger and the Wild Rice soup. The soup was also delicious! The bacon cheddar burger was more on the mediocre side. Tried to stop here for lunch and all the tables that we could see were full but there wasn't anyone sitting at the bar. We patiently waited to be greeted in case there were tables open around the corner and the woman working was incredibly rude from the moment she walked over. We asked if she'd prefer for us to sit at the bar and she snapped at us that we were not going to be served any faster there. I tried to clarify that we just meant we would sit here if that is more convenient for her and she continued to make it perfectly clear that she did not want us to stay. I understand that she was busy and stressed but her attitude was very aggressive and unnecessary. We took the "hint" and will be spending our money elsewhere. read more

Terribly disappointed in this place which highly suggested reservations yet it was barely full. Though we didn't choose what we're probably the best of the featured items on the menu my husband's beef provolone sandwich and the nachos that I ordered were bar food and not even good bar food. The cheese sauce on the nachos was best described as a "picture of cheese" because it tasted nothing like cheese and that's part of the joy of having nachos. The place does have a nice view. STRIKE 2!! Although we vowed not to attend this restaurant for dinner again, we took a chance today and ordered appetizers before we went across the street for dinner. Meh...food was pretty good. Service was not the best, even though it wasn't very busy. We went on a weekday evening and the entire place was being run by teenagers. Our waitress was pleasant but lacked basic service skills like refilling our water without being asked, and clearing away our plates after we finished eating. We ordered a dessert to share and moved the dirty dinner plates to the side hoping she'd take them away when dessert arrived. Nope! Dirties were still on the table all through dessert. Ewe! We didn't have a reservation but they took us straight away. We got there around 10:45 a.m. and were the only patrons in the dining area at that time. I ordered the buttermilk pancakes and they were absolutely amazing! The portion consisted of three large pancakes and I ended up taking half of the order home. The pancakes were light and fluffy with a slight crunch around the edges! The dinning area was very quiet, clean and service was very good! We had Thanksgiving dinner here.. we have to say, when we saw the menu there were to many onions for my husband and two many cranberries for both us. But when we got our plates there was so much delicious food! As usual for Thanksgiving the four big things are the Turkey, the mashed potatoes. The stuffing, and the gravy. They did not disappoint. They were so very good. The gravy may have been the best we have ever had. So well seasoned. We haven't even eaten our cheese cake. we didn't even tell you how delicious the rolls are or how courteous and happy the wait staff were, even though they were serving us on Thanksgiving. Stopped in on our yearly trip up north. Amazing service, was quick. I got the braised short ribs (pictured below), wife got the Swedish meatballs, daughter got a burger, and son got a crispy chicken sandwich. Not much talking took place when food was delivered. Ate here twice while staying one night at the Grand Superior, dinner and breakfast. My BF and I didn't have super high expectations so we were very pleasantly surprised! For dinner, we shared the garlic cheese curds, my BF had a burger and I had the pesto tortellini. All delicious! The pasta was very filling--the portions in general were huge. For breakfast, I had the avocado toast. I didn't love that the avocado spread was more of a guac, I would have preferred just plain avocado. Still, it was good, as were the eggs and hashbrown it came with. This place has an insanely beautiful view--we were lucky to be seated against the window with a view of the water both times. But I would have loved to sit outside even more! Both of our waitresses were so nice and attentive. read more

After spending a Saturday at the big airshow down in Duluth, I decided to drive along the north shore of Lake Superior on Sunday and explore a little bit before heading back to the Cities. Castle Danger, MN, was the northernmost point I reached, and Splashing Rock the perfect place for a late lunch. The restaurant is located in the main lodge building of a nice resort. I sat over on the bar side, which has a number of tables as well. It's a beautifully built, finished, and decorated place, with a lot of wood and stone, and a warm, homey feel to it. The view of the lake, as others have said, is breathtaking. It was a pretty slow time when I arrived for lunch, with only a few other groups of diners in the room. All were obviously in the area for leisure time, as I was, and the setting was casual, relaxed, and fun. I seated myself as the sign directed, and the waitress promptly appeared with a menu and took my drink order. The menu has a broad selection of items, and you can eat as humbly or expensively as you want. I chose the Star Harbor walleye sandwich, which came with a generous portion of fresh, nicely-breaded fish; a fresh, soft, bun; a selection of trimmings; and at my option, french fries. The breading on the fish was crisp, and the fish itself still flaky and moist. The tartar sauce was just right - not too overpowering or rich. I really enjoyed the food. The waitress was friendly, and attentive without being overly intrusive. In all, a great experience for me. read more

HORRIBLE SERVICE! During Father's Day weekend my family rented a cabin at Grand Superior Lodge, which is a beautiful resort. We got the idea to have a brunch on Father's Day for our family of 12 people. The restaurant website said to call for reservations, which I did, and the manager approved a reservation of 12 people. I received a text message a few hours later confirming our reservation, and a reminder text the day before. When my family showed up on Father's Day, the server was incredibly rude. She told us they had no record of our reservation, even when I showed her the text message confirmations I received. I asked if she could still seat us, and she told us there were only 2 servers working, and it might be a while. We had to wait a long time before we were eventually seated, and unfortunately we were stuck with the same server who continued to be rude throughout our brunch. If we ever stay at Grand Superior Lodge again, we will be dining elsewhere or cooking ourselves. read more

I went here for brunch with the boos family before heading back to the cities. It sits over the shore so almost every seat gives you a view of Lake Superior. On weekends they have a Bloody Mary and Hot Chocolate bar. Sadly I could not do this since it was a slow weekend. They have a fairly good brunch menu with pancakes, eggs and other varieties. The corned beef hash was pretty good, but the corned beef got a little over cooked. I had the salmon and bagel with onions and tomato. It was a bit underwhelming though as they gave a tiny amount of chopped tomatoes and onions. Definitely not enough for both sides of the bagel. They did have enough salmon which was great and enough bagel spread. We also got a complimentary fruit cup that had pineapple, melon and raspberries. Overall it wasn't too bad but definitely not as good as some other spots along the north shore. I would go back to try the hot chocolate bar, and another menu item to make a final determination on whether I like this place. read more

This restaurant overlooks Lake Superior and is connected to Grand Superior Lodge. We found the surroundings wonderful and the staff very helpful. We ordered the nightly special which was seafood over noodles. Because our waiter indicated that it was a large portion, we decided to split it. While the noodles were plentiful, there could have been more seafood. By itself, one person could have enough seafood, but this would have left a LARGE portion of noodles. A bit on the pricey side for what we got. Also, the waiter got confused several times. Maybe it was us. read more
