We have been very disappointed with grand sanitation lately. We are in scotch Plains. They have not been consistent with pick up. Trying to give them the benefit of the doubt, I figured they could be short staffed after covid. Nonetheless, we scheduled a bulk pick over 2 weeks ago. We were charged and promised a pick up the next day. Here we are after 4 emails, 3 phone calls (always spoke to the same woman who shared our frustration) and 2 weeks later....the bulk pick up remains outside our home. After writing a review on google earlier today, the owner responded and asked that I email him directly (which we did....3 times) If you are short staffed, please be honest with your customers rather than stringing them along. read more

I was a Grand customer for over 10 years, but recently canceled service on 10/25/2021. I was promised a refund check in 6-8 weeks. When I called 12/2021 to inquire where the check was, I was of course told "It's in the mail." Fast forward to 1/5/22, I call again. They agree to reissue another check and say they will mail it on 1/8/2022. I speak with Cassandra on 1/20, 1/24 and today 1/25/22 to ask if owner will stop payment on last check that seems to be lost between the great distance of South Plainfield and Fanwood and offer to come into the office myself to pick up a replacement check. Owner refuses to stop payment or reissue another check. Cassandra then tells me I am "desperate" and hangs up on me. Do NOT do business with this company. read more

Have Grand Sanitation for 2 yrs now ever since we moved into this location. I had issues with stuff left by previous folks and a lot of my stuff due to the move in too. I wrote an email and surprisingly got a quick reply from an employee's company id instead of generic mailbox. I prefer emails many times co I ay be on calls or at work and prefer to not move from my desk. Had no problems and had my issues handled in like 1 or max 2 emails. Had one issue when the previous occupants' washer/dryer that I wanted picked up did not on time and an email later it was rescheduled immediately and taken care of. You as a customer however have to be respectful of what they ask of you. For eg, for things not in the trash bin, you have to apply the stickers they send you, else it won't be picked. I think that is fair enough. Otherwise the guys who come with the truck are very polite too. Have on occasion heard the truck and run out with the can and if they see u, they will wait for you without rushing you or such. That is customer service for sure. read more

My old standby company was a total no show and after hours on a Friday night the owner answered and set everything up for a Saturday delivery... It's 5pm on Saturday and I'm just about finished (with weekend help) and can avoid taking another day off of work to get this task completed. Got to say the service has gone down hill al the way to the bottom. I had called last Thursday to make sure they were picking up which they did. I had to call to make sure though. I don't trust them to show up when their suppose to. We are paying for two pickups a week but have only seen one per week over the last 2 months. I believe there was one week with two and the forth fell on our day other then that it's horrible. I am constantly fighting flies and maggots. The last time this happened I got a bunch of excuses from the office manager around employee vacation time. So I am wondering how many times do the two guys that pick up our street go on vacation? I'm a year long customer who moved. I was originally okay with the service provided. Since moving I've had over four missed pickups in the past two weeks. Given the recent snow storms and being told a driver was on vacation, I decided to give them a chance to fix it. I've now moved my garbage to the curb for the sixth time in two weeks after repeatedly being told a driver will come the next day. No follow through with what was promised by customer service for the sixth time and 7-10 days to receive a refund. The guys who do my pickup at my house are great. They take the time to be mindful that it's very early in the morning, the put all the garbage cans back and close the garbage shed. Other companies would just leave everything open and garbage cans wherever they fell like it. read more

After purchasing my home in NJ, I found out sanitation was not included with the ridiculous taxes we pay in our town. Anyway, we have a choice of about 4 or 5 providers, I chose Grand Sanitation based on their competitive rates and their customer service. The employee who answered the phone on my first inquiry sounded like she was smiling on the other end. I appreciated the positive energy. Since then they've always been polite & helpful when I've called. The sanitation workers on the truck respect the property and place the bins neatly back in place. They've never complained when we've pushed the upper limits in terms of bag weight. We've never had a missed pickup in the 4.5 years we've used them. I have no words for this company. I have used this business for 10 years and even after I cancelled my service on October 9th because their driver harassed me in my own backyard, they continued to bill me and never gave me my refund until I had to send emails to the owner Richard G. These people do not care about you, they only care about taking money from hard working people! They have provided the worse customer service I have ever experienced in my life. They also put my family in danger by telling their driver exactly who complained about missing pick ups and tried to justify it by saying they had to let him know so he wouldn't miss it again. I was offered a refund to delete my last review which I did. However I waited over a month for my refund which i received last week and I was still shorted!!! These people are unprofessional, their workers are untrained, unprofessional and just horrible to deal with. My only regret is that I had to deal with bad service for so many years prior to switching to another family owned business in the area who really know how to treat their customers!! Waiting for my contract to end. They miss pick ups and don't send anyone to pick up like they say they will. They wait until next pick up, so your garbage will pile up if it's a weekend. They have scratched my car numerous times with their cans going past. The new worker leaves the can constantly at the end of the driveway, never returning it, and spilt garbage and left it! I had to pick up the mess that wasn't even mine! And they pile the bags in the street until the truck comes around to pick up. Not fun when it's in front of your house or especially your driveway on a hot summer day. Had to hose and wash the street because of the smell. Not the service I should be paying for!!! At least this year I didn't get the rude hint of happy holidays (hint tip) on my can this year. I ALWAYS take care of service people, but that is just balls. Great Company the only complaint I have is the garbage men don't put can back in driveway. Then the can blocks my mail box.

I have submitted negative reviews before, after many frustrating incidents, not just one. I have to say dealing directly with Richard has helped tremendously. He is very quick to respond and fix the problem. The last 2 times we needed help he called and/or emailed within minutes and took care of everything. No company is perfect but, if you do have a complaint I recommend calling him and sticking it out, it has worked for us and we are satisfied customers! read more
