There's lots of seating and tables to enjoy your meal, work, meet with friends, etc. One of my favorite spots in the VAD is The Corner. It's a small section in the Market Hall that sells little treats, jeweler, candles, etc. from local makers and small business owners. It's always fun to see what they have there and good to support these businesses.

We had a great time strolling around inside and out. The district has a nice selection of stores. There is everything from a plant store (Stump) to ice cream (Mitchell's), to clothing stores (Clevelan Clothing Company and others). There is definitely a focus on more local goods and shops. The area is not expansive so it is easy to stroll around and see everything in a short period of time. Had it been warmer I would have liked to sit outside with a coffee.

Being someone from SoCal and being someone who has always been around other Asians, this was a wake up call that I was actually blessed my entire life and didn't know how good I actually had it. I remember going through this Asia Plaza to see what little semblance it might have to the life I once knew or to see if I could even connect with the community here and it was quite grim. Even after COVID, even after mass gentrification and the massive downfall of LA or SF Chinatown is better than this place at it's peak. It's so grim and depressing. No shade to the people who make their living here, and what they do for the small community that resides here (because they have nothing else), but there's barely anything. Limited selection in terms of the stores that they have there and the number of stores. Value-wise, you're paying a premium because there's no competition if you think about it. Service-wise, just normal. Empty and closed storefronts. Random trinkets here and there. Very aged, outdated, and it's really the frog in the well scenario. You don't know what the outside world really is like, because you've been in the well your entire life. That Black Butler wall scroll on the wall with nothing around it is a testament to the landscape here. I'm just happy I never have to come back.

There were once two standalone arcades, the Colonial (built in 1898) and Euclid (build in 1911). These two structures were combined into the 5th Street Arcades. These arcades hold a lot of history and retail. AMBIANCE: The 5th Street Arcades are adorned with history - ornate ceilings and trims. Don't forget to look up and take in all the beauty. The space includes two walkways accessible from the Euclid Avenue and near East 4th. Should you use a ride share, consider the existence of various entrances. Arcades include retail and dining. There are only a handful of businesses. I most recommend Geraci's pizza (delicious pizza in diner setting), Intro (for fun outfits for your downtown outings), Coco's Selfie Studio (for documenting your family's moment), Rocket Fizz (for candy nostalgia), and Colossal Cupcakes (for the most Instagrammable sweets). You'll also find something very nostalgic - shoe shine! Ensure that you check the working hours of these establishments, most stores remain closed on weekends and have odd hours. Check retail and dining directory on the 5th Street Arcades website. HOLIDAY MARKETS: The 5th Street Arcades will be hosting Holiday Makers Market this Christmas season. They will be on weekends - Saturdays and Sundays. PARKING: Parking is available at various parking lots downtown (Euclid Avenue or by E 4th Street). If you're staying as a tourist in the city, it's an easy walk from all the hotels on Euclid Avenue. Personally, I enjoy the 5th Street Arcades for the architectural experience and not so much the businesses. There is nothing in the building that would consistently keep me coming back. The Arcades now stand mostly deserted. It would have been great to see them years ago in their full vibrancy.

It feels very much like Hallmark town - ornate buildings, refined businesses, and magical vibes. It's an ideal location for dining, shopping, and unwinding. You can literally spend an entire day here. SHOPS: I attached an image of store directory to my review. Shops include boutiques, gift stores, tea house, coffee shop, gyms, spa, and other businesses. Literally, grab all your girlfriends and go! Most businesses here would most interest women. My favorite businesses in this village include the following. Tree House Gallery and Tea Room for comforting meal and tea. Wild Iris for home decor shopping. Chez Michel for coffee and baked goods. Also love how you can seasonally send a letter to Santa. Presumably you'd Santa ask for gift certificates for the shops. Next time I look forward to visiting Strip Steakhouse. I love the concept of a ritzy steakhouse being located in a barn-like structure. I also love that Jack Frost Donuts will soon be joining the shops. They have the most sugary and funky local donuts. SERVICE: Service at the businesses I've visited was very friendly. It was really like visiting a village with similar culture. PARKING: Plenty of parking is available in the village. You can even find pockets of parking right next to be businesses you're visiting. The plaza never really gets busy, so it's easy to navigate. You can walk from shop to shop after parking. NAVIGATION: If you're a first timer pay attention when looking for this shopping plaza. It's nestled back and doesn't have very visible signage. If you pass the destination, the reroute takes you on a long journey. Everyone that was meeting me for tea in this area passed it including my Uber driver. I look forward to my next adventure at the Olde Village. I love the every shop, cafe, and business has similar refined character. It's really one of a kind shopping area in the city. They feel corny and gimmicky and are usually overpriced and overhyped and you have to stand to eat anything you order. However, I was very wrong in assuming that is the vibe of the West Side Market. This market has everything from fresh produce to the finest and freshest cuts of meat to pretzels and cake pops and everything in between. Nothing about this place is overhyped and underperforming. The vendors are incredible and there's such a value to the goods they're selling in the Cleveland community. Even stalls that repeat the same types of items have their own unique spin and history. It's busy, with people everywhere looking and enjoying their purchases.
