The space is perfect for parties and venues. They have a stage, big open dining space, private party rooms (looks like karaoke?), and nice round tables for all the dim sum. A few of my favorites are the mango pomelo sago (think cold creamy mango dessert soup), coconut pudding (looks like a cute bunny!), and the salt & pepper noodle fish. I don't know what noodle fish is but I will order this every time I eat here! Great dim sum overall. There are plenty of tables and seating. The only thing I wish they would add is a baby changing station in both men and women bathrooms. I think places that offer high chairs should also have baby changing stations. Overall, all the food was pretty good and I would definitely come back. My favorites were the 1/2 duck and the pan fried noodles with beef. My older son only ate a bowl of rice and some pan fried noodles. My dad thought the shrimp dumplings were pretty good (and he eats a lot of them) and then ordered a huge array of other food. They were sadly out of Chinese broccoli so we didn't eat any greens. This place is huge. We were the first people at 11 a.m. on a Monday. It's nice that it's right next to MD Oriental so you can eat dim sum and then go grocery shopping. The waitress was very nice. When my son was disappointed that they didn't have fortune cookies, she gave him egg tarts for free. I've never seen such nice service at a dim sum place before. That meant a lot to him. It looks like this place also serves as a banquet hall, since they have colorful lights and a giant tv (like the size of a wall!) that plays music videos. There were a lot of smaller rooms off tot he side that look like they either hold private parties or karaoke. I like this place and I'd definitely come back. Grand Fortune is the newest Chinese Dim Sum restaurant in Tampa. So naturally, I had to go try it out. I think overall, it is a good addition to the Asian food scene here in the area. The ambiance of the place, while large and spacious, is a little over the top with the decor and use of colors. Service was decent. Servers are nice and keep the water glasses full. But sometimes it can be hard to get the attention of the people pushing the dim sum carts. The food itself was solid as well. Enjoyed the variety that was offered in the menu and the variety of dim sum items they had. The food was executed well, although I thought the portion sizes were a little small, especially for the higher prices they were charging compared to other restaurants in the area. Located right next tot the MD oriental market. Big dining hall with several private rooms to rent out for karaoke! dim sum is open until 4pm. After that you have access to the regular menu. We had a variety of dishes about 8 total split between two people was perfect with a little leftover. Everything was clean. Servers were a little slow but overall very sweet. Great place. We came as a bigger for brunch. We unfortunately had to track down the carts and waiters for service, maybe because they seated us at the very edge? The dimsum was good, not mind blowing but not bad. The har gow unfortunately had really thick skin and fell apart really easily. Some of our dimsum was also cold/room temp. I also wish they had a bit more variety, but they have everything that Westerners typically like (siu mai, pan fried dumplings, char siu buns,..). Overall, one of those average spots I would keep going back to for convenience. The newest Chinese restaurant in this year. It is about 4.25 stars for our new year experience. They have good dim sum in push carts. I like all the item. This review is based on value and taste. The restaurant name match the their Chinese translated meaning. For dim sum, they are very good. We got veal chop with black pepper sauce. It is a bit expensive but worth the money. The other recommended are the Xiao long Bao and the snowy durian. The xiao long Bao have a sag bottom skin. Chef has good skill on this soup dumplings. The snowy durian has fresh durian inside. It will be challenging for most Americans. For Malaysian like me I love it. Other item we have included pork dumpling, shrimp dumplings, chive dumplings, bbq pork rice paste, fried shrimp ball, stuff shrimp eggplant all are good to have. We visited Grand Fortune Restaurant as we were craving Dim Sum. The restaurant is located next to an Asian Market. Upon entering its a very large restaurant with a giant tv and beautiful chandeliers throughtout. They also have several private dining rooms for larger parties. Grand Fortune serves Dim Sum by push carts which I feel is a better way to serve Dim Sum. Ordered a variety of Dim Sum from the push carts and was disappointed in the Shrimp Rice Noodle - it had a strange texture and the flavor was different. Har-Gow was very good and when I tried to order more it was a 20 minute wait. It is hit and miss with Grand Fortune and was not impressed with the variety of Dim Sum available. By the time we arrived, around 1 PM, they were already out of Egg Tarts. What was nice was being able to ask our server for a specific item and locate it either from one of the carts or kitchen. Came here to celebrate a birthday party. Food was good, some dishes were hit or miss. I usually love the steamed fish but it was underseasoned. I really enjoyed the seafood congee and lobster. There was a lot of miscommunication. A room for 30 was booked but instead a small room for less than that was reserved. Luckily there were cancelations to accommodate. The AC was also not working well and staff seemed to have trouble using it. The booked room itself was fun as they had karaoke available. The ambiance in the main dining area also looks nice. This is probably the most authentic Cantonese restaurant in Tampa. I went with my parents and kids for dinner. It was an early dinner, and the restaurant was nearly empty. I really hope they are busier later at night and for dim sum! The food was good quality, and portions were pretty large. The prices were high for Tampa, but they were reasonable given that Grand Fortune is a NYC brand. Service was attentive, which makes sense as there were so few customers. The food came out quickly. My father had ordered the Peking duck in advance, and then he also ordered: the beef stew casserole, the jumbo shrimp with walnuts, the pea tips, the house fried rice. The spring pea tips were perfect (Yummy House's version has too much garlic). The beef stew with turnip was very authentic and as good as I've had anywhere. The Peking duck was pretty good. The skin could have been crispier, but overall, it was a good dish, and my children enjoyed their first Peking duck experience. The jumbo shrimp had way too much mayonnaise and the broccoli was undercooked. The fried rice was fine but no better than any other restaurant. We didn't order dessert, but they brought orange slices and a water chestnut and egg white soup at the end of the meal. The orange slices were perfectly sweet, and the dessert soup was refreshing and the right amount of sweetness to end the meal. The waiter told me that Grand Fortune makes a different dessert soup every night. I'd love to try their red bean soup, so I'll have to return on a different night. The sitting area design is banquet hall style - with large round tables and small round tables, a stage for performance or Karaoke. During the lunch time fresh made dim sum in a pushing cart were cruising between tables. All the dim sum dishes we tried were delicious. I especially like the short rib and soup dumpling. I can tell they were freshly made from the kitchen. The materials tasted fresh, and they were good sizes. We were given a paper menu. If we like any item but not found in the cart, our waiter will bring them out from the kitchen. The service was attentive. The issue for this place is the pricing. It was not cheap. They serve pu-erh tea!!! Holy cow! What a treat! Barbecued chicken feet? Don't see that every day! Sauce is really good, though. This is the most authentic Chinese food I have seen outside Kong Kong! Food gets wheeled by in carts and servers explain what each dish is and you choose what they put on your table. There are 2-4 pieces of whatever on each plate, so plenty to share. Great for small groups...4-6 people maybe? Didn't recognize a good portion of what we picked, but, it had good flavor. A great way to expand your culinary horizons (if that's your thing...otherwise you may want to skip this). Not sure if they have fare more suited to the American palette, because we specifically came for the dim sum. I would come back when we have out of town guests because this is something unique, but, given it is almost an hour away, not sure how regular we will be. Went in by chance to try out the dim sum and it was very delicious. Reminded me of places I used to go in Atlanta. I ordered jasmine tea, pork buns, and hong kong bread. Service was quick and polite. The manager at the end thanked me and i hope I return. Place is definitely designed for large parties of 6 or more. Full bar and karaoke in the back for the evenings. The menu is quite large so I would suggest looking at the menu in advance if you wanted to save time. We ordered salt and pepper, fried tofu and shrimp in lobster black bean sauce. Start with some green tea absolutely fabulous tasty food large portions served beautifully. I always have to bring my own take away containers for anything left over after the meal and the weight staff thanked me very much. So feel free to use your containers, at the end of the meal we received a check and a complementary dessert, which was fascinating because it was a warm red bean soup with tapioca. Interesting that a bowl of peanuts is put out on the table just to Nosh on and they were very good because they were Spanish red skin peanuts. This was definitely the first time this has ever happened. I picked Grand Fortune because it was new to us. They were busy, but could handle the crowd. Other options were smaller with waits for a table. The food was OK. Nothing was terrible, but it was far from impressive. The carts came by often enough, but the total number of options was underwhelming. We may have officially had a waiter, but we could not figure who that might be. So when we finished I did what about half the tables seemed to be doing. Take the bill up to the bar/cashier and pay by credit card there. read more

Finally, a Chinese restaurant in the Tampa area that really knows how to present and cook dim sum! There is one other but it is far for us to travel to. So many choices from dumplings to roasted chicken feet to pork ribs in black bean sauce to pork buns. There is so much to choose from and they are all delicious. The restaurant is big and can accommodate at least 150 people. There are separate banquet rooms for parties and karaoke! The service is attentive and fast. Remember that English is not their primary language but they try. Be patient. The prices are high but not crazy high. And they have a separate menu for various platters and rice dishes. We visited Grand Fortune Restaurant for dim sum today. When we arrived @ 12:30p we were happy to see several carts wheeling about the restaurant. First the "good": The shrimp stuffed eggplant were interesting -- the minced shrimp filling had a very light breading & were deep fried. Har gow had large, fresh tasting shrimp. Chicken feet were nicely braised with a tasty sauce. Added props for cutting them in half, making them easier to eat. Turnip cakes had a nicely seared crust & silky texture inside. The "meh": Sui mei were nothing special. Sticky rice had some nice minced meat filling, but an odd aftertaste. However, we found that most of the food was either barely warm, or totally cold: at one point we we asked for some appetizing-looking potstickers only to immediately call back the trolly lady because they were absolutely cold. Unfortunately, the replacements were barely warm; unsatisfactory & unsatisfying. The problem seems to lie in fact that most of the trollies are not steamers. So even though the kitchen may make good dim sum, by the time people get to eat it, it's cold. Sure, you can't do steam table for deep fried items, but if you offer dim sum from carts between 11:00am & 4:00pm, you are doing a disservice to your patrons if none of your hot dishes are actually hot. The prices are definitely higher than China Yuan or Ha Long Bay: seven items plus tip was $60. However, since it takes us over an hour to get to Ha Long Bay in St Pete, if you figure in the cost of gas, the price becomes a bit more reasonble. However, if all the dishes are not served at their proper temperatures, how enjoyable is the meal? And how likely are you to go back? If getting hot food means ordering off a dim sum menu, I'd gladly forgo the carts. read more

This is probably the worst dimsum place in Tampa. I doubt that they actually prepared and cooked their dimsum themselves as they tasted like frozen stuff from the grocery store next store. Baozi skins were so thick and the meat did not taste good. Several dishes were cold and the service was bad and chaotic. It took a long time to get our food and two items were never served, but they still tried to charge us until I pointed it out to them. It is a very badly managed business. I had two chances to visit recently. One was for dinner, and the other time was for dim sum takeout.Firstly, the dinner menu differed from the majority of so-called "Chinese restaurants" in the area, which is a good thing. I liked the decoration and how they aimed to host big banquets here. However, the food was mediocre, and the prices were unnecessarily high. As someone else mentioned in a previous review, their cheapest dish was $18, and it was a vegetable dish. The service was pretty bad and not very attentive. They seated us - 5 people- at a big table meant for 10-12 people with no lazy susan, despite seeing us struggle to pass food around until we asked for one. What annoyed us even more was our server, who acted as if we were clueless about Chinese food, treating us like we had just emerged from a jungle and were dining out for the first time. The second time I visited the restaurant was for dim sum takeout. It was 1pm on a Sunday, and they didn't have all the dim sum available, which was understandable. I wasn't upset about it at all. We ordered what they had left. However, what went wrong was the lady handling our order used her bare hands the whole time. The same pair of hands handled money and then transferred our food from the steamer basket to the to-go boxes. That was disgusting. I might have to think twice about coming back to this restaurant. My 2nd visit revealed an entirely different experience. From great service to bad service. Asians get all the attention, non Asians are mostly ignored. From piping hot food on the first visit to cold food on the 2nd visit. In addition, there were some dishes that rated very poorly in execution and flavor. A new opening in the same plaza as my Asian market. Specializing in Dim Sum and Karoake, it seems like an odd combination here in Tampa but is a huge business in the Orient. That said, time will tell if there is a market here for that here in Tampa. First the food. The menus to me, are exciting. At first I found myself greatly anticipating my future forage into their many dishes. Now, after a bad 2nd visit, I falter at the notion of returning. Advice, DO NOT order dim sum from the kitchen, get it hot off the cart, look for dishes that are steaming. My all time favorite is usually meat or seafood on crispy pan fried noodles. Here, they make a terrible version, the flavor is bland cause it is way too soupy and there are no crispy noodles, all ruined by the pool of bland broth. Most of the dim sum however was delicious. Karaoke. There is a huge public stage for live entertainment, if need be, but it is mostly for clientele who desire to publically perform. The are multiple rooms for private karaoke parties. State of the art equipment that has music and songs in over a dozen languages. There are table rentals, 10-12 people can get a table for $500 that includes liquor or beer and some mixers, fruits and snacks. You can also order food from the menu. The set-ups are varied. Rooms with 1 huge table, rooms with 2 tables, rooms with neon lighting and more. The price range is from $400 to $800. Service was fast and attentive the first visit but I was mostly ignored on the 2nd visit. However, I must say that management was quick to resolve any issues, replacing cold food and even a small discount for my troubles. The huge spacious and open dining area seems odd until you realize it is set up so everyone can see and enjoy the stage and entertainment. I decided to eat here on a week day night as my family and I were craving some Chinese food. I should've know that something was up when the place was complete empty during dinner rush hours. The restaurant was clean and staff were nice! However, the food could not compare. Most of the dishes we wanted to get were not available or sold out. So we had to settle on other items. We got the fish maw crab meat soup and it tasted like tap water. The rice was old and dry and the clams in black bean sauce tasted old. A positive about the clams however was that they were clean! Another dish we got was the hotpot with seafood and tofu and through the smell of the seafood you could tell it was a few days old.
