Wow....Just Wow! I recently celebrated a birthday and received a card with a picture of an amazon gift card under the words Happy Birthday on the front. We do a lot of business with Amazon so I thought it could be a genuine gift. Inside the card it said it was from Garner, where Amazon has a warehouse distribution center. I called the number and learned that I could get my "Birthday Present" of the Amazon Gift Card BUT would have to go to a 90 minute presentation for Grand Discovery. Really, you Scum Bags!!!! Got a post card in the mail for a free cruise. Since this looked real, I decided to see what it was about and be careful. I was told that we would have to go Grand Discovery in Cary to hear a 90 minute talk and at the end we would get our free cruise. We decided to take them up on it and went for the session. The deal was much like a time share but instead gave one access to wholesale travel opportunities. We declined their offer. We accepted the free cruise upon exit but we have to send in a deposit of $99 toward taxes of the cruise. I'm still not convinced I'm going to get my free cruise and plan to investigate a lot before giving up my $. I'll re-post with a higher rating if it all comes true :-) read more

I spoke with Grand Discovery Consultants in response to receipt of their mail solicitation for "Cheap Tickets." My expectations were low, but with time on my hands I thought, "what the heck." The woman I talked with pushed hard for personal information concerning income, work status, travel plans, etc. She noted I would be required to attend a 90-minute "presentation" with my wife, and would need to pay a $50 refundable deposit. When I could not commit to an appointment time, she pressed very hard -- indeed to the point of challenge and insult -- to get a date and time set. When I repeatedly stated I would need to speak with my wife to get her schedule and would get back in touch with them once I did, she did what I sort of expected: SHE SUMMARILY HUNG UP ON ME! The indications I observed do not give me comfort. I am most unlikely to call back with my schedule. read more

Attended meeting and gave my valuable time to the 90 minute presentation. Everyone was positive and I did not feel pressured to purchase the Grand Resort Travel package. I was happy to get the vouchers for my round trip airline tickets, hotel, and car rental....until I read the fine print on how to get this "free travel". In short, there are forms to complete and mail via "certified mail" along with over $150 money orders or certified checks. Then you must wait to receive a form to return to them with two travel date choices ...then they will take 3 to 4 weeks to process your request and get back to you 15 to 21 days prior to your departure date. What the hell! This is not Grand Travel by any means. It looked to good to be true and it is not true. Do not waste your valuable time. read more

I am writing this letter to give others hope against a company that has been conducting fraud in Fort Mill for years. These guys are professionals at scamming innocent consumers out of their hard earned cash! Here are a couple of red flags that you should note when you walk in the door. I am giving you this information as a form of hope and to help put these scam artists out of business once and for all. 1. No Computers anywhere in the office 2. Offers sound too good to be true and it is. 3. Promise access to properties that they know they will have a hard time getting 4. NOTHING IS GUARANTEED 5. Their contract promises nothing in return for what you are paying. 6. They front themselves as a Condo Sales office to make consumers believe they have recourse after the sale. SC does not consider them a Timeshare, therefore they are not regulated and Article 38 does not apply. 7. They make you sign a No Cancelation Policy 8. They use an invalid BBB accreditation to lure you into believing they are legitimate. They are not ... It is a lie ... and they are a scam. The BBB is a tool that many of these company's try to use to make them look legitimate. Our story begins with getting a "Free Trip Offer" in the mail. Now I know I have seen several of these in the mail and thrown them out and I should have again but honestly, we thought we would just try it to see what this whole thing was about. We have been to other legitimate Timeshare sales and 1 day, we may look into something like Disney or Hilton but for now, it is not apart of our 10 year plan. Anyway, we were told all about this awesome place in Myrtle Beach that we could get for a fraction of the cost we normally pay during prime season. They make everything look incredible. The problem is that no one can get the properties. You end of adjusting your vacation time frames to their availability - this is not convenient and it was very shady in how they represented this information. You don't find these details out until you go home and do a simple search on these scam artists. They say they can save you money on hotels too but this is also a lie ... they don't get you any better deals than what is on expedia or Travelocity. After coming home and being excited about the possibilities, I started to see how we would be able to reserve the property in Myrtle Beach. Well, you can't online and everything I was seeing on their property list was gross, had awful reviews, and would be a place I would not send my worst enemy to in many instances. The site is an ancient relic from 1999. I felt bamboozled. I had been taken for a schmuck - OR SO THEY THOUGHT. I then started looking into the reviews of this place online and discovered the many lies that they had told. The red flags were everywhere. These scam artists are very good at what they do. Dressed in their fancy suits, trying to look legitimate while spewing lies in every other sentence, but be warned. This is a prime example of a wolf in sheep's clothing. They will play hardball to keep your hard earned cash. I followed these steps to get my money back. And just so you know, we paid $6995 for their 4 week package. So then it was my time to act. Here are the steps you need to take to defeat these jackwagons. KEEP YOUR COOL - do not get angry or they win. You think better with a cool head. ACT QUICK - Time is on your side. The quicker you react, the better chance you have at beating them. Contact your Credit Card Company and file a dispute IMMEDIATELY - Claim they are Frauds and you thought you were buying a timeshare. Go to the website Office of Consumer Affairs with SC and File an online Dispute Call the local authorities in Fort Mill. The York County Police Department and File charges against them for Fraud. File a claim with the Federal Trade Commission against them for Fraud. Call the BBB and file a complaint. They won't do anything about it but it will be recorded online. BE VIGILANT with the cancelation and Dispute Process. It will be long because they will fight it with as much vigor as they used to sell you your fake timeshare. Use Article 38 as a means to cancel their fake contract. I sent them all within 5 days of the presentation b. Write a thorough Response of why you thought this was a timeshare as apart of the documentation for the 1st round of information for the dispute. c. DO NOT GET UPSET when Grand Discovery fights the dispute and 1st chargeback. They will lie and use anything against you to make them look legitimate. STAY THE COURSE. Keep Fighting. IT is worth it in the end! d. Take a few days to calm down and then start writing your second response for chargeback. I also will share this letter with you if you need it to help you save your time with fighting these jackwagons. e. Grand Discovery has their merchant account with First Citizens Bank. I wouldn't have written this review but they refuse to stop calling and harassing me even though I have asked each time to take me off their list. Scam. Not truthful. I was contacted by telephone and was told that if I attended a 90 minute session with my wife we would receive a free flight to anywhere in the continental US, two nights in a motel and a 3-day car rental. Also we could travel during our trip and stay in different motels at different cities (we later learned that this was not an option). After we attended the 90 minut session. I learned two things: 1) The cost to join this vacation package deal for life is $10,000 and if one took a lot of vacations this could be a very good deal. 2) To get my free trip I had to send in two vouchers to be validated. Vouchers had to be sent by US Certified Mail witin 21 days, and I need to include a cashier's check for $100 for the trip and another cashier's check for $50 for the rental car. They were very specific on the use of US Certified Mail and stated that if we used regular mail that our vouchers would be returned. Other conditions include me having to pay reservation processing fees of $75 per person for the trip, $25 for the rental car, pay taxes and fees for the car (vehicle license recovery fee, surcharge/tire fee, 10% concession recovery fee and any other taxes and fees). I recall the telephone conversation and the initial part of the presentation indicating that the trip would be FREE. My wife and I decided to chalk this up to education. read more

I absolutely love my membership with Grand Resort Travel!!! For my first trip, I booked a two bedroom condo at The Wyndham Oceanview Blvd. this July. I was able to stay for $550 FOR THE WEEK! I went online to see what this would normally go for, and, with no discounts, it would have cost me almost $3000!!! When I was on vacation, I went to a timeshare presentation and realized just how much money this package is saving me. The sales consultants for the timeshare could not come close to giving me the saving and flexibility that I enjoy with my membership. I am now in the process of booking a condo for my sister and brother-in-law in the Dominican Republic at a brand new resort just build in December of 2013. Very much looking forward to seeing how much money I will be able to help save my family. I love the flexibility of the program, the money you can save, and the ability to allow my friends and family to use my benefits at no additional cost to me. I know usually people come on here to complain, but I couldn't help but tell others of my satisfaction with my decision to purchase this membership. I agree that the gifts are not the greatest. But I also found out that these gifts are not from Grand Discovery. The gifts are from a marketing company and not what you can expect from the travel company itself. read more

Got one of their postcards in the mail. Called the number and halfway through realized it was a scam and just hung up. Have received 3-5 calls per day from them since then (about a week ago). Just took the time to talk to one of their reps. They were pushy to ask why I didn't show up for my meeting in Cary. I asked for the name of their company (I still didn't know) and looked them up to see these reviews and other reviews from ripoff report, etc. I told the lady about them and she said that I couldn't believe what I read online and should just come in anyway. No thanks. I think I'll believe the 10+ negative reviews before I waste two hours of my time listening to your presentation and getting ripped off. read more

I received the same mailing about two round trip airline tickets, two night stay at a Marriott and car rental all free for listening to a 90 minute presentation of this "travel agency". Even when setting up the appointment it didn't seem up front, no mention of a membership club. I gave it a try and it is not a time share but similar, they try and explain the differences. A little pressure sales tactics but as they say if it sounds too good to be true, don't believe it. So we took our vouchers for everything and after reading the fine print and what you have to do and when you have to travel for the free vouchers, it doesn't seem worth that either. read more

We too visited Grand Discovery in Cary because I received a "Happy Birthday" card in the mail, and upon the leading that we would receive a free trip (taxes excluded) we decided to check it out. Not very professional in their presentation or in the meeting room. We turned down the program and was going to follow through on the "free" offer but after reading over the fine print...there are just too many scam like statements, including "not being able to talk with anyone until after you send in deposit money". I did some additional research on the apparent Parent Company "Smart Travel & Incentives" only to find an extremely long list of complaints and comments from others who felt as though they were scammed. My recommendation is to throw the card away when you receive it and pretend like you never heard of Grand Discovery or Smart Travel & Incentives. read more

So I just called the hot line which is in sourced somewhere in Florida which is better then being out sourced. I plan on going to the 90 minute show and receiving the promotional promises. Yes you will have to pay airline taxes which are around fifty bucks a person for most anywhere i the con't U.S. Yes I think this is legitimate. They are a new business here and I think they are just trying to get business. In addition, the package included a 3 day 2 night Marriott Getaway Weekend and a 3 day car rental. WOW! This sounds good, but upon investigating further, I determined that we had to endure a 90 minute presentation by Grand Discovery as well as "post" a $99 good faith fee to cover airline fees, taxes and" whatever". I went to a bridal show and apparently signed up for a chance to win a free cruise. We had to of Corse go to a 60-90 minute presentation on this Grand Discovery Travel Agency.My fiancé and I though, what the heck, yolo. So we went, signed in and were seated with a man who tried to sell us a timeshare (basically). We declined the offer. So he brought this slimy dude over who I guess was suppose to "convince" us to sign up. We declined and declined their lessoning offers until I spoke very clearly to save their time because we were only interested in our compensated time. The slimy dude rudely balled up the paper and walked off. We left with our cruise and airline ticket vouchers only to read the fine print that says we need to pay $75 refundable deposit to register and $75/each for the plain tickets and $99 for taxes for the cruise. This is all and well. Although I'm still skeptical about the whole thing. Doubt we will go. If your anything like me, save your time... not worth it. read more

If you receive an invitation to Grand Discovery Vacation, run don't walk away as fast as you can. The promotion is not high pressure but the information provided is based on customer costs received in 2010 when everything was cheaper and available due to the economy. The free airline ticket, hotel, and rental car is B.S. They have attached so many hoops you have to jump through to get the items, including sending money orders or certified checks...that is not free. The free trip is a two day get away. You can not extent it since the flight out is at 6pm to 10pm and you return two days later at 6am to 1pm. You get one full day at your destination. Of course during the entire time the promoter is telling you how they hire a group to do the promos and Grand Discovery Vacation has nothing to do with the requirements. Do they true think we are stupid. Grand Discovery Vacations must pay for this service and hopes we will not take advantage of these free items since it will drive up Grand Discovery marketing cost. So if they are so deceptive with their marketing, what do you thing the club membership truly provides...run away for this NOT SO GRAND crap. read more

I talked my husband into going to the presentation so that we could get the free airline tickets and hotel stay. We were hoping to get away for a weekend which we never do because we have 4 kids and are on a very tight budget. We went to the presentation with an open mind because maybe there was a great deal involved that would work for our family. They make it sound so great during the presentation but in reality never tell you the bottom line cost until they send you off with a travel agent. We didn t even bother speaking with a travel agent because we knew that since it wasn t mentioned during the presentation that it was going to be way outside of our budget. But the woman who did the presentation wouldn t let us leave until we talked with her. She said that was part of the presentation in order to get our gifts. She told everyone in the group at the beginning of the presentation that this was a no pressure presentation, if we liked it and it was something that would work for us then great, if not, we get our gifts and can be on our way. This was a complete scam. The whole positive attitude changed very quickly when we said we couldn't afford it. Basically the membership only covers discounts on hotels/resorts. So unless you have a lot of money the membership is pointless. You still have to pay for airfare or other means of travel and be able to take off of work 4 weeks out of the year to get your weeks out of the program. The beginning amount they try to stick you for is $10,000!!!! I didn't even want to pay $1000! Even after we told the presenter that it would be a hardship for our family and that we were not interested in putting anything on a credit card and going further into debt, she questioned whether our credit cards were 'maxed' out. I explained that wasn't the case (not that it was any of her business) and we wanted to keep it that way. Her next rebuttal she proceeded to make us feel like we couldn't make positive memories for our 4 children without taking vacations! Really? And tried to say that putting this on a credit card was an investment. I told her that nothing is an actual investment unless it is paid for in full, not taking on debt. And to add insult to injury she got the calculator out to give us the "employee package", the lowest deal which still came out to about $2,600. We still let her know even that would be a huge risk for our family financially and that we didn't have the means to travel to all of these resorts or to take off work. And to top off the horrible experience, we drove nearly an hour each way and the free gifts were NOT free at all. The airline tickets you have to pay $75 per person for reservation fee (non refundable after your reservation is confirmed), then $100 (refundable 30 days after you take your trip) to activate the gift by money order or cashiers check you have to send the money in 60 days in advance. You also have to send in 2 or 3 different dates and destinations. Then you have to pay for all taxes and fees on the airline tickets. The hotel card was no better. It s a $50 card but you are required to stay a minimum of 2 nights and have to book from select destinations only. It is not a cash card like they present it. And the 2-3 night stay in hotel you also have to send $50 up front for that too. Needless to say, we threw our free gifts in the garbage when we got home for fear of getting ourselves into a mess that would cost us financially. First of all, they do not even deserve 1 star. I recieved a mailing with a scratch off and it was a matching winner. Mailing said I would win either 2016 Ford Explorer, 25,000 cash, free trip for 2, or a free tv. Also it guaranteed a $100 dining card and up too $100 wal-mart gift card. Sounds too good to be true, right? Well it IS! Don't fall for it. We declined to join the vacation club. When we left they gave us a form for a free cruise for 2. A booklet to apply for our $200 "dining card" and a form to redeem our 15$ giftcard. I first tried the dining card, which is very misleading. You have to pay $90 to recieve a free $10. Again a scam. Im not even trying the Walmart redemption, I know its a scam too. And for the cruise for 2-you have have to pay nearly $200 and mail it in by certified mail. Then wait to get more info in the mail. I'm sure its same as dining cards, have to pay and then I highly doubt there is even a cruise. They promised "free" things for your time, but they lied! Save yourself the time and trouble! read more

We attended a seminar this evening in Fort Mills Sc, stupidly I did not look up about this outfit online before going and giving them information. Hopefully we won't experience the calls other have. Certainly the entire evening is to sell you time share even though the presenter says many times "this is not time share". A case of saying exactly what it is. The presenters are wonderful snake oil salesmen with lots of banter but no real information. Of course this is presented as "for tonight only" and if you come back later we won't be able to offer such a good deal. Well the deal was for between $3-4,000. life time membership was yours. You just need to check out the BBB reports to see that others have found that the contract is not what you might have been told. We left without getting to the fine print accepting our no-name tablet which most likely is worth about $20. I feel bad that I didn't remind the people staying in the room that any decision they made there would be legally binding. read more

We attended a meeting at this Cary location...We actually were impressed with the presentation and decided to deposit to take advantage of the discounted trips to the locations of our choice...That was a Saturday before the MLK holiday...On Sunday, as promised, a representative called to see if we had questions and by then, we did as we had looked over all the material...To make a longer story short, the representative made it clear to me that the vacations to the beach (an example) would be impossible in the summer...So here is how it works--they can get discounted rates at locations in that locations' off season...Any of us can do that...I sent a fax on MLK day cancelling our contract and then, mailed it registered mail on Tuesday...This was well within the three day cancellation period allowed by North Carolina...I asked for our deposit back and it did not happen so I filed a claim with the Better Business Bureau....I got most but not all of my money back...I expect all of it returned as I cancelled in a timely manner....Don't make the mistake we made as it is not what it seems.... read more

i received a check in the mail advertising a free trip. i called to see what it was all about. i was told i would have to attend a 90 minute presentation. i have to say these people are truly aggressive and we got into an argument because they were so pushy trying to set an appointment. well the day of the appointment i had to call to cancel due to childcare issues and the person i spoke to again aggressive stating" well you shouldn't have made the appointment if you wasn't gonna come. she kept asking me personal questions that had nothing to do with her, but she kept insisting it did. i never had so much trouble with a company in my life. i would rather pay for a trip than to deal with these people. it was truly a headache. i don't understand how they are still in business. i ended up having to hang up on the woman which is something i never do because i find it to be so disrespectful, but i had to in order to end the conversation because these ppl are very intruding. read more
