I came here for a wedding. I was impressed by the parking lot. There was plenty of parking to accommodate guests. The ceremony was held outside. After the ceremony, we head inside for cocktail hour. The staff were attentive and quick to assist. I took a tour of the place. There were 3 to 4 rooms of different sizes. I like the room my friend used for her wedding, because of the natural light that lit up the room. That natural light came in handy when the venue lost power! For about 15 minutes, all the power went out. We were told PSE&G were doing a repair nearby which is why the power went out. The power did come back quickly so it didn't affect the wedding. The food is what I was impressed with the most at this place. The best penne alla vodka pasta I ever had! It was a small portion since it was part of the cocktail hour. But holy cow I had to ask for another plate. Everyone at my table agreed. The main meal was good. Nothing negative to say about it. It was simply good. I don't normally eat dinner rolls especially since I had a lot of carbs eating two plates of penna alla vodka pasta. Something about the dinner roll was sooo good. I kept eating it since no one at my table was touching it. I must have eaten 4 rolls. The friend I came with tried it since she saw me eating it. She also agreed the dinner roll was delicious. I would literally have a wedding here because I know people would enjoy the food and service this place provides.

This was a banquet hall with multiple rooms and an outdoor patio for seating too. I was in the room on the lower floor for a memorial luncheon. It was spacious with plenty of available tables. The service was friendly and appreciated. Regarding the food, there was a variety to choose from. There were wraps, Caesar salad, roasted vegetables, pasta salad, chicken Francaise, sliced beef, penne vodka, roasted potatoes, etc. It was all solid for the most part. I won't explain everything I ate, but just give some high-level thoughts. The Caesar salad was decent. The Caesar dressing was watered down. My favorite was the beef entrée, cooked nicely with plenty of flavor. Regarding dessert, they had Neapolitan ice cream with several cookie choices. The chocolate chip cookie was outstanding. It was much better than I thought it would be. It was soft and gooey while going together well with the ice cream. Will I go back? Yes.

This was the perfect place for my cousins small baby shower. The terrace room was gorgeous and the place itself is very clean enforcing all covid protocols. I could definitely see this place as a great party/sweet 16 place. I loathe catering hall food but this place was the best! The vodka sauce was drinkable, and everyone wanted seconds from the buffet (IMO you can have all the bells and whistles but if the food is awful I won't want to return). Thank you all for a beautiful day!

Gazebo where we were married at Gran Centurions

We were married here on June 13, 2021! We had our ceremony and reception here and I honestly have zero complaints. Only good things can be said. From our initial meeting with Gary the owner to my calls in to Joanne!Al was our maître d' and seriously he anticipated every single one of our needs and then some! He put together my candy bar and it looked amazing! He kept the flow of things moving perfectly and flawlessly! He's been in this business for a long time and it shows! He is seriously an amazing human who made me always feel like he cared and I never felt like his time was divided! As the bride I could not have asked for a better experience!!! As I was getting ready I had Arcadia helping me and she was a gem! She helped me get dressed and she helped me keep calm and stay focused on the good things! She held my dress for me and helped me get around before the ceremony! She even came in clutch when I'm the bracelet I had was too small for me and gave me a beautiful brand new bracelet that I have not taken off since! We got so many compliments on the food and the beauty of the room. We loved the food so much that we already ordered trays of food for Father's Day from them! We had the terrace room. It was so beautiful with the balcony and the windows! They decorate everything so nicely there and having the balcony was a huge plus for the smokers in the family. They weren't outcasts and could still be part of things because of the wall of windows. If someone who was smoking was needed they were able to quickly come right back in not missing anything. These little things matter!!! I'm so happy and so proud of our wedding!

What Can I say about Gran Centurions? Well, I came here last week for an NJIT event for work. The Hall wasn't very large or anything spectacular but we had 200 guests to accommodate for and we all fit in conveniently. Every staff member was polite and at the end of the night they were flexible with providing two bills for us. One for food and one for the renting the venue. We needed to have the bills split that way purposely and not many locations provide that service which we were grateful for. There was a cash bar and hors d' oeuvres going around. There was coconut shrimp, calamari, stuffed mushrooms, and chicken skewers. When it was time for the food to come out, they were unfortunately late and the executive table didn't receive their salads. That wasn't a good start to upset the executives. There were three different entree options to choose from; chicken, salmon, or vegetarian. I selected the salmon entree and was not impressed. The butter sauce on the salmon was too tart and not the right type of butter sauce for a salmon in my opinion. The entree came along with veggies and mashed potatoes but was like a brûlée. It was hard for the most part and who wants hard mashed potatoes? Dessert was only one option.... ice cream. It was 20 degrees out. Again, the executive table did not receive their coffee and received their ice cream five minutes before leaving. Not to mention, the ice cream had that icy texture so we knew it was probably old. Sad to say, we won't be utilizing Gran Centurions facility next year. The plus side, it is located in a nice town.

Carmine also took awesome care of the groom and the groomsmen, she was terrific and so professional. While we were in church Billy went to tuxedo shop swapped out the tuxedo pants for my husband, father of the bride(broken zipper) no one ever knew. Beautiful Venue, Disappointing Experience While the James…read moreWard Mansion is undeniably a unique and beautiful venue, our overall experience was unfortunately disappointing. Leading up to our wedding, the owners were uncooperative and made the planning process more stressful than it needed to be. Since the venue claims that my concerns are unfounded and an anomaly of their 5-star reviews, here are the specific examples of our less-than-favorable experience: The week before our wedding, during our pre-event walkthrough, we discovered that the owners had made several cosmetic changes to the venue that were not communicated to us in advance. While we were notified of larger renovation changes, some major cosmetic changes were neglected--such as white-washing the exposed brick in the atrium area. This change, while likely done to expand the appeal of the venue, should have been communicated to a bride ahead of time and not discovered a week before the wedding. This lack of transparency was unsettling and frustrating. Adding to this frustration, the day before our wedding, the venue allowed us an hour to set up our chuppa for the ceremony. While my husband and his brothers were there, the owners stood with their arms crossed, watching them put together the chuppa, claiming my husband was damaging the floor (which was not true), asking for ID and proof of insurance, and generally exhibiting intimidating tactics. This added unnecessary tension during an already stressful time. The owners admittedly thought my husband was a vendor, but this does NOT justify nor dismiss their behavior and attempts to intimidate him. This behavior was unprofessional and left a negative impression on us and our families. During setup on the day of our wedding, our florist was placing flowers on the fountain in the atrium. My planner was called by the venue's coordinator and questioned about the flowers. However, at our pre-event walkthrough the week before, the venue had a representative present who knew that we planned to have flowers on the fountain and never mentioned that it wasn't a possibility. Lastly, the morning of the wedding, I paid extra to arrive early to use the bridal suite to get ready. The owners reside in the building next door and there is a hidden door between the two buildings. This access point leads to a catwalk directly outside the bridal suite. As we arrived and were getting ready with hair, makeup, and dressing, the owner came from his next-door residence right onto that catwalk outside the bridal suite. The owners were well aware that we rented the space that morning and should not have accessed the venue while my bridal party and I were in the bridal suite. After how they treated my husband the day before, it is easy to interpret this surprise visit as more intimidation by the owners. Most disappointing was the venue's response after the wedding. I asked my planner to arrange a time for me to directly discuss some of these issues. My planner was told that they refuse to address my concerns and feedback, claiming instead that my issues lie at the feet of her, my planner, and our caterer, and that their plethora of 5-star reviews speak for themselves. I, too, reached out directly to discuss these issues with the venue's coordinator and was met with the same resistance; my text message was ignored. This unprofessionalism and disregard for our concerns were extremely disappointing and added to our overall negative experience. Here is my response to their claims: My specific concerns are with the management of the venue and their treatment of us and our vendors. No venue should rest on their laurels of 5-star reviews and ignore a less-than-favorable experience by a customer.

I'm going to start this review saying I feel a little bad writing it because Michelle was nice…read more That's literally the only good thing I can say. If there were negative stars, I'd give her -16. I had hired Michelle for the day of coordinating for my wedding in which I had planned, scheduled everything for, made all the decorations.. the works. I had a list of things for her to do along with times and everything. I'm very particular. Days leading up to the wedding, she confirmed times and what not with my vendors that I had already confirmed with. But when they contacted me after she contacted them, things were a little crazy, vendors being confused on a few things that I had already discussed with them and we're good to go. Strike one. But I let it go. I figured it was just a hiccup in the wedding world. Fast forward to the rehearsal day/dinner. I paid an extra $200 for her to be there so when day of came, she wouldn't be lost. She sat me down to confirm everything, most things were already confirmed so I was a little annoyed that she took time away from my day to do this. Anyways, one question that popped up THE WHOLE TWO DAYS SHE WAS AROUND was- "when can I go home" what. The. Fuck. My day. Not yours. I'm paying/paid her so she needs to zip it n get to work. So after two or three mentions of her leaving, after being there for maybe an hour, I sent her home. My best lady and bridesmaids were confused when I did this, because then I had to run the rehearsal by myself. Thanks Michelle. I sent her home because she cared more about pumping for her baby and when she could go home over my needs in to which I had hired and again, paid for. Wedding day- she comes. I have papers n notes that she has for specific times. My mom is there to tell her where any and all decorations go. Once she is told to do something, it's realized she isn't doing any of it. My best lady yelled at her multiple times and told her that she should not be doing her job for her. And she's right. I didn't it my best lady, but I should have! I had hundreds of dollars worth of decor that didn't get set up, not to mention the hours of work and equipment I bought to out into it. Again she asks what goes where. Mind you, she asked me THE BRIDE my HUSBAND and multiple other people when she could leave. AT THE WEDDING! Are ya kidding me?? The last time I saw her was right when we were in line about to walk to the dance floor to be announced. Once again... this fucking girl asks us when she can f*****g leave again! This is about 5:10pm. I told her "when the donut wall gets set up between 7-730, you can go" THIS BISH GOES AND SETS UO THE WALL AND BOUNCES! ya f*****g kidding me?! She set out my f****g dessert table before dinner. So. F******g pissed. I'm writing this because I want to save anyone who cares about their wedding day to look elsewhere. I guess I should have known better when I went to her office and it was a limousine garage office inside a garage and there was a mess of clutter while sharing an office with her family at a table 1.5 feet away from us. Everything was perfect and wonderful except her and her services. So many people came up to me to tell me how terrible she was. Save yourself. If you care about your wedding, she's not the girl. Sorry Michelle. Wish you were better.

She is absolutely amazing and will help craft an event that is better than you could have imagined. She has been such a pleasure to work with, and would highly recommend her. Let me back up and give you some context. My husband and I knew we wanted to get married in NJ on my uncle's farm. The only problems with that were that we lived across the country in Portland and we didn't have a building to have the ceremony in. My husband and I also both worked full time jobs. We began to realize that we'd have some time constraints on our hands and hiring a wedding planner might not be a bad idea. After reading some reviews online, I reached out to a few planners and set up a couple of introductory calls to hear about their services and experiences. When I started talking to different wedding planner, every one of them started off by telling me about all of their packages and what was included in their service. Lindsay was different. Unlike the other planners who immediately went into their sales pitch, Lindsay wanted to hear our story and what we wanted in our wedding. It seemed like she genuinely wanted to help us create our special day, not just give us a cookie cutter list of services. This was such a refreshing and personal way of approaching wedding planning. I knew from that minute that I wanted her to plan my wedding. Lindsay of Simply Sunshine Events is an amazing events planner, coordinator, and event designer. She covers a wide array of events, from wedding and baby showers to corporate events and fundraisers. And every single review that I read about the company was simply glowing. Not only is she professional, candid, creative, and helpful, but she just seemed like someone who I would work well with. Ironically we both grew up super close to one another, so we instantly clicked on that part of our past. Even without that connection, I knew that we would get along well. We decided to get help on both the design portion as well as the planning portion of our wedding. I'm really not the most creative person in the world and I felt like we needed help putting together the overall vision. We were presented with a personalize design brief with a couple of different options. Once we decided on a vision, Lindsay was able to pick out vendor options that she thought would work well with the venue and overall theme. It was so much less overwhelming being able to choose out of a couple of highly recommended vendors than to have to choose from everyone in the area. Which leads me to another important thing that Lindsay brought to the table: experience. Not only has she worked with all of these people before, but she has seen all the ins and outs of doing a wedding at a "home" venue. Initially, we thought it would be more cost efficient and easier to have an at home wedding. However, it turns out that this makes the whole planning process much more difficult since we had to not only style a wedding but actually create a venue. Lindsay instantly knew all the things we needed to look into - a tent, flooring, a generator, bathrooms, the list goes on and on. She provided us super detail specific timelines of when we should do each task, as well as supplemental tools to assist us along the way. With Lindsay's help, my husband and I made a lot of the big decisions pretty early on in the planning process. I completely trusted Lindsay's opinion on vendors and that really worked out well for us. We had amazing food and cake tastings, had a florist meeting on site that was spot on, and have a Chaplain who gave me chills when going through ceremony options. The best part about the whole deal is that Lindsay can sometimes get her clients special discounts with vendors that she works with regularly, and passes those deals directly to her clients. Some planners will take those discounts as profits, but Lindsay has an awesome system where she charged us one flat fee for everything listed in her contract and helped us save money elsewhere. She was a huge help in constructing our budget and sticking to it. Overall, I'm so glad we worked with Simply Sunshine for both the planning and design part of our wedding. The wedding went off beautifully and I was so glad I could just relax and be fully present on the wedding day. Even though there was threat of rain all the way up to the actual day, we were able to execute a plan B (extra tents for the ceremony and cocktail hour) that most people had no idea was actually not what we originally intended. I was so thankful to have such an amazing team of vendors backing me up through the preparation and actual day, even when we threw curve balls at them. Simply Sunshine Events has made this whole planning process less stressful than I was initially expecting, and made our wedding day more amazing than I ever could have hoped for.
