I have nothing but great things to say about this business. The Funeral Director, Mortician, DeVry Graham is a very professional man of God. He has handled all of our families homegoing services for several years and he has done an outstanding job. His staff is on point, courteous, kind, and know what they are doing. They handled my fathers homegoing service today; with a spirit of excellence, and kept everybody on time. Never been to a homegoing that started on time and ended on time; I am truly impressed with Graham Funeral Directors. His staff was also professionally dressed and carried themselves with class. I would recommend them to anybody that needs their services to call and talk to DeVry Graham, he will give you the best service possible!!! read more

Mr. Devry Graham was very kind and accommodating to my husband and me when we initially hired him to pick up my mother-in-law from the nursing home. We chose his funeral home based on a recommendation from a family member in Chicago. At the time, we were making memorial arrangements from out of state, so having someone we could trust was especially important to us. Unfortunately, our experience changed significantly after we made the arrangements. During our phone conversations, Mr. Devry was often dismissive and abrupt. His communication was inconsistent, which made an already difficult situation more stressful. When we arrived in Chicago and visited the funeral home, there was no air conditioning, and the flat-screen monitors were not working. We were told, by the day of the funeral, that the air conditioning would be repaired and that the monitors would be operational so that we could display pictures of my mother-in-law and play music during her service. We were also told that Mr. Devry would provide the prayer during the service. Unfortunately, on the day of the memorial, we arrived to find that the facility was still without air conditioning and the monitors were still not working. In addition, Mr. Devry was not present to provide the prayer as previously promised. Thankfully, a family member agreed to serve as the MC, and he and his wife stepped in to help make sure the service ran smoothly. Toward the end of the service, Mr. Devry finally arrived to provide the closing prayer. During his remarks to my husband, however, he repeatedly called him by the wrong name, even after we corrected him several times. This was particularly disappointing, disrespectful and upsetting during such an emotional occasion for our family. There was also another concerning incident after the service. While the family was outside taking pictures, I tried to return inside the funeral home to use the restroom and discovered that the Funeral home doors had been locked. This was very troubling, particularly because family members were still outside and the service had only recently concluded. Overall, we were very disappointed with the experience. We were traveling from another state while grieving the loss of our loved one, and we expected the funeral home to provide a dependable and respectful experience. Our family deserved better communication, follow-through, and consideration during such an important and difficult time. read more

Graham funeral directors held my cousin's funeral. The staff were very friendly and helpful and they are down the street from a bar, which helped my family and myself drown our sorrows. Only street parking, but I had no trouble finding a spot. Thank you read more

Mr Graham senior was so awesome, During the loss of my father suddenly. He was so patient with us. He went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. I would highly recommend Him to anyone whom is looking for services. read more

I can't even began to detail the deception, lies, and theft that occurs with this so called funeral director, but it is absolutely unconscionable that they are still allowed to operate unchecked. Before you choose any funeral home or agency, check to see if they have fines, violations, negative reviews, and of course a license! For Illinois you can check them here. https://idfpr.illinois.gov/profs/fundiremb.html Against my warnings and wishes, because they were not even properly licensed, my sisters allowed this den of thieves to take hold of my father's remains. They completely botched him to the point that I wasn't even sure it was him in the casket. Additionally, after the service was over, Mr. Devry Graham, proceed to disrespect my family by trying to hold his own service. This was more than tacky, it was wrong. His grandstanding, caused us to be late to the cemetery, and my father was a veteran being buried at Lincoln National Cemetery (military grounds). As a result they was doing over 70 trying to get there. I can't continue this because it brings some very disturbing thoughts of what I wish I could have done to them, but I will just leave it at STAY AWAY AT ALL COST! read more

Yesterday, I attended a funeral service hosted by Graham Funeral Directors. I left the service feeling angry and wishing that my friend have been honored in an appropriate manner. Please do not disgrace your loved one by using this service. Here are some of the issues that took place at the service: 1) During the eulogy, the speaker never referred to my friend correctly by name. HE CALLED HIM THE WRONG NAME 4 TIMES!!!! When he was interrupted by the deceased's aunt, he told her to sit down and then launched into a rant about how he was moved by God and missed some details. The only detail that matters today is the name of the man who is being laid to rest. 2) The content of the eulogy was impersonal and bizarre. My friend's life, battle with cancer, children, and life's work was never mentioned. I felt like the eulogy was about the speaker wanting to play preacher, not about honoring my friend. 3) There were constant audio issues and no one was trying to fix anything! We could not hear the family and friends who came up to honor him since the mic would drop off. I would have loved to hear their message, since the eulogy was a joke. 4) The program/flyer contained several pictures of the wrong man. It was obviously not revised or proofread. I cannot speak to the way they treated the family but I know that I left feeling they had made a mockery of my friend's memorial. Please use another company. read more

Poor follow through. Service was organized and family members ended up running the service. No pastor officiating. It was poor trash and ghetto. read more

Thanks to Mr.Graham! My mother looked amazing! If it weren't for the casket...you would've thought that she was sleeping peacefully! I've been to other funerals, where not only do they look dead, they look worse than the day they died. GFD took care of us, from our 1st call to our final viewing. I strongly recommend their services, served w/a spirit of excellence. read more

I would like to say the Mr Graham is a man of his word, however after many months of trying to collect from a service that Mr Graham used at his funeral home, we still have not been paid. I don't think this is the type of business anyone should do business with. I even offered for him to pay me half of what is owed just to get some payment. As of this date he has not paid a dime and its been 4 months. Shame on you Mr Graham, you claim to be a christian, however you cheat people. read more

My Daughter's husband died recently leaving her, their two young children, no insurance, and angry family members. When my Daughter told me that Graham Funeral home would take care of my Son-in-Law I just assumed it would be another assembly line, quantity over quality, or just another, "Next" type of Funeral home. Don't get me wrong other Funeral Homes are Great. Mr. Graham took his time calling, texting, Praying, calming, mediator, educator, and being a magician (picking up the pieces if you fall off). He has 20+ jobs in that Funeral home and he handled all of them very well. It seemed that we were not progressing towards the funeral and there was some lack of communication on our part. Mr. Graham took me back to the past of of Big Ma and them. He made a way out of no way. He had my Son-in-Law's Funeral at a time he didn't know about. He went above and beyond his job while dealing with angry family members. He dealt with Mama Payne, Madea, Mother Jefferson, P.T.S.D. and still remained a Gentleman! I did my time in the Gulf War or as People called it, "The 100 hour War". We went in, took care of business, and ended it in 100 hours. Mr. Graham reminded me those days when he had my Loved one in his care. Thank You Mr. Graham for being their for our Family! I want to also Thank You for treating my Daughter and Son-in-Law like Family at this time in our Life. Hooah! read more

Graham Funeral Directors have been excellent to me and my family. We lost two loved ones 3 months apart. The owner prayed with us and gave excellent service. Both of my loved ones looked wonderful, as if they where asleep. His staff was kind and professional and I love the Top Hats. They made us feel like they really cared about what we where going through. Also the Obituaries and the Casket Presentation had a wonderful creative personal Touch. Great Job! I highly recommend Graham Funeral Directors read more

WARNING!!! GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. If you want compassion and an efficient service for your family member...don't go here. The owner/director is very unprofessional and when under pressure from his own mistakes he resorts to yelling and belligerence. Your family member will sit for days, you will wait for days to get a call back, you won't know the date of the funeral until he is ready to communicate, you wont get the death certificate until he is ready and you will get yelled at profusely for wanting these things. That's very disturbing to me. I am not the only one that has said these things about this business. If you go on Better Business Bureau this ineffectual business has the same complaints for all the same reasons. EVERYONE ISN'T LYING ABOUT THE SAME THING!! How dare this man invite grieving families into his business only to treat them with so much contentiousness and hostility. When you have a loss in your family the last thing you want is to get yelled at by the funeral home for asking simple questions like, when is the funeral. This place is ungodly and wicked. The good reviews are from people who the director knows personally. SO PLEASE....Don't trust this man with your family, if you do, don't expect him to have compassion for you and your family. Take your family somewhere else. In the mean time I will pray that God bless this man with patience, understanding and compassion. read more

This place does not deserve not 1 star. I am only writing this review because I dont want people to get treated like my family and I was treated. In a funeral business you expect compassionate, honest and professionalism at such a emotional time. I had the most unimaginable experience with Mr. Graham who is argumentative and disrespectful during a time you expect professionalism and good communication. He does not call you back and when you call he has an attitude. He shouts at you and wont let you speak. He lies constantly. He did not pick up the body when he said he would. His facilities was deplorable and he stood in the doorway while the service was still going on after only 45 minutes giving the Pastor the hint to end it. It was embarrassing and demeaning to me and my family. One excuse after another excuse it took almost 4 weeks to get the death certificate and he made excuses as if it was my fault. Again he trys to make you the bad person. I dont want anyone to go through what I went through. Please understand you deserve better at times of bereavement. Be very cautious. Why did he think it's ok to give graphic descriptions of a decomposed love one. It's not right. Poor handling of a families loved one. Dont use them. Thank you. read more

Graham claims to be a man of God, though I can't see how a true Christian man could treat people the way he treated my husband and his family during their difficult time of loss. He's a fast talker. He was dishonest to my husband and me. His lack of communication left us in the dark with most of what was happening with the preparation of the funeral, and we were always the ones who had to contact him first to get answers to things that we shouldn't even have to ask for. (For example, "What day is the funeral scheduled for?" and "What time is the burial?") He had the audacity to leave on the day of the funeral to tend to other things and never returned, after having promised us that he would take care of the proceedings. My husband's father was a veteran, and the runaround that we were given by this funeral director was not what anyone deserves, much less a person who served his country. The funeral was rescheduled multiple times at the last minute, and the burial was pushed to a day further in the week due to Graham's lack of professionalism with scheduling and spreading himself too thin. He didn't even bother to show up on the day of the burial, again leaving us with more questions than answers. I would never, ever recommend this man to anyone, much less a military family. He's full of excuses and will hide when he knows he's in the wrong, leaving his mess to be cleaned up by the workers of his facility. People of Chicago, #veterans everywhere, steer clear of #grahamfuneraldirectors. Your loved ones deserve much better than what he provides. read more

I wanted to give a positive review but UNFORTUNATELY, I can not. My loved one's service was Oct 6,2018. I am still waiting for items paid for and promised. The encounter started off comfortable but as of now it's not completed and I am totally sickened by the idiopathic /narcissist that Grant Graham has shown himself to be. In such a delicate situation the last thing you'd expect is to encounter such poor business practices. Please don't be charmed by Mr Grant Graham because he resorts to yelling and screaming to cover up mistakes and less that professional business practices..I wish I had read the reviews before we obtained this service. Please go elsewhere for your services.. Totally unacceptable and Inappropriate. read more
