And businesses often under-promise and over-deliver (which is rare, and oftentimes a selling point). Well, Ray over-promised and over-delivered (is that even possible?) Our water heater was in its last days and I could tell it was going downhill fast. It was a Thursday evening and I was losing hope that I'd get someone before the weekend hit. Well, Ray to the rescue. He responded via Yelp Thursday night letting me know to give him a call first thing Friday. Well, I did. And Ray walked me through step by step what it's going to look like and that he can come in Friday afternoon to get the water heater replaced. He answered all my questions BEFORE the job, made sure I knew everything I was going to purchase BEFORE he purchased it all. I was in the know and he did not try to sell me anything else I didn't need -- which I always appreciate. In fact, he went the extra mile to offer me different pricings and options for the water heater and its parts so I can pick for myself. He gave his two cents about the parts and the water heater AFTER I asked him about the difference, and not just rambling about his opinions trying to sell us the most expensive ones. Then, he came as promised right around noon and went right to fixing our mess. Got it done in a matter of few hours making it look awesome. Oh, but Ray isn't done after the installation and fix. He made sure to go over every little thing he did so that I wasn't left confused about anything. And he documented it all so I have it for my records. Then, he leaves saying I can let him know if I notice any further problems with it so he can make sure to tidy it up, not that I think I'll need it because he already did an awesome job for us. The job cost us right around what we thought it would cost us and that's always a good thing. A nice cherry on top is that Ray is very personable and is pleasant to talk with and is a people person. Might I add that he had a great attitude--not the kind of attitude that appears he's in it for the money. Nope. That's always the type of person we enjoy doing business with. Thanks, Ray! When I was finally able to book, I accept his bid and scheduled the install and repairs for a Tuesday. Tuesday morning by came and I woke up to a text stating he couldn't make it and wanted to reschedule for the following day. I was annoyed at the last minute cancel, as I had prepped all the areas, but I agreed. The next morning came and I waited (I had reached out hours before asking for a confirmation but nothing, I figured he was busy) an hour after he was scheduled to arrive still nothing. I called, no answer and I left a voice mail, no response. Through the day I texted, I messaged through Yelp, I emailed him through his companies website, I called a couple more time and never once received a response. This was an expensive job that wasn't easy for us to afford and I was really excited to finally have this done. To be completely ignored and not even given the courtesy of a response to say he decided not to go ahead with the job, or he felt intimidated by the complicated sink, it was unacceptable. His own website touts that he stays in communication with the client throughout the entire process, well FAIL, big big fail. Not only did he disappoint me, but he put me out of time and effort I spent cleaning and prepping the areas so that he would have an easier time working. I held off posting this thinking maybe he had an accident maybe he couldn't get to a phone or check his email, but it's been a few days and the benefit of the doubt has faded. This is not how you run a business or how you treat customers. Now I have to look for a new plumber who won't be scared off by a fancy sink and simple communication.
