We went in for a $4 comic and got so much more! They have great books for kids- not just comics. They've got golden books, graphic novels, regular novels, and all sorts of good stuff. My kids had a blast and are still reading and rereading weeks later. Plus, they put you on a list when there's something you want, whether it's out of stock or a series. You get a text when it's in and they hold it for a week. Super cool. There's lots for adults, too- it's not a store just for kids but we really appreciated the section. :) read more

This store has an amazing selection. They host regular game nights. The decor alone is a geek's dream. I've been going there for my comics for years now and absolutely love the place. The staff are wonderful too. The manager is a great guy. They have been so nice to me over the years. Their subscription service always makes sure they hold the comics for me that I want so I don't miss out on anything if I haven't been able to make it over ther in a minute. I've been to some of their other store locations too, but the Naperville Graham Crackers will always be number one in my eyes, my nerdy home away from home. If I've ever been in here I don't really recall, which is weird because it's probably the nearest comic emporium in my vicinity and I usually have my finger on the geeky pulse like that. Anyway, I was looking for a specific miniseries of comics and was momentarily stunned upon walking in because the inside looks a lot bigger than it appears from the street (Tardis-like properties?) Since I knew exactly what I wanted (& I had people waiting in the car), I squelched the desire to wander around and look at everything and just asked one of the clerks for help (girl with creative hair). I see that other yelpers have had issue with service here, but I apparently hit the jackpot because she was both efficient and friendly (though the older dude behind the counter was giving off a rather sullen vibe). At any rate, I got exactly what I wanted in less than 5 minutes. I'll have to return when I have more time to browse! read more

To begin with, I've been a loyal customer of Graham Crackers Comics in Naperville for at least the last 15 years. I probably spend anywhere from $25-$45 there per week. For many years, there really haven't been any problems, but yesterday was an indicator that it was time to move on when I received very lousy treatment from Mike Wall, the store manager. The man is usually in a lousy mood and makes no bones about whether he likes you or not. I'm not sure what I ever did to receive such a cold shoulder, but he's really starting to come apart at the seams. I simply asked him to hold some items behind the main desk so they wouldn't be sold out from under me. When I placed them on the floor, he promptly threw a fit and placed them somewhere else. He proceeded to threaten me that his wife would "kill me" if he were to trip over the flimsy cardboard box and hurt himself. We bantered a bit after that, but I realized that I wasn't going to give this store another red cent. Literally EVERYONE else that works in the store is great, which is why I hung around so long. The real standout is Kirk who always is willing to engage you in conversation. I will miss seeing him especially. "Crabby Mike" needs to up his game, or he'll lose more customers. I'm visiting another location now, and will not return to the Naperville store. Mike can threaten someone else now. read more

Masks STILL required at this location--just FYI. I went to this location on the advice of the Downer's Grove manager, since Naperville is a bigger store with a wider selection. When I got out of the car & walked to the door, I was greeted by a bold red "Masks Required for Entry" sign. As I didn't have my mask, since pretty much nobody else around requires them (including the Downer's Grove location), I turned around, got back in the car, and went home. It's absolutely their right to continue to requiring masks, but I had to dock stars for not listing it on their website, this page, or anywhere else that I could've seen it before making the trip unprepared & needing to turn right back around. And, yes, I created an account just to post this, because if they won't list that masks are still required so people know before they get there, I figured I should, so others don't have to turn right back around at the door & drive home like I did. read more

You can't have a better Comic Book Guy than Mike, here at Graham Cracker Comics. The guy's a wizard: there's nothing he doesn't know off the top of his head, and there's nothing he can't get for you. He brings his personal collection in to the store for others to revel in its majesty! He'll hand-tabulate your order if the computers are down (and even let me use my credit card, although it meant he had to call another store and order over the phone)! He'll do it all with a smile and without a trace of snark or snobbery. As for the store, it's well-stocked with everything you might need, even from more obscure and independent publishers. Memorabilia lines the shelves: action figures and statues aplenty! There's also a sizable collection of Magic: the Gathering cards (useful for when events are held here). This comic book store was amazing! First time going to this establishment and will probably be going back very soon! As soon as I walked in I was welcomed. The store itself was incredibly organized and clean. All DC comics are in the left of the store and Marvel are on the right. Finding the comics that I was looking for was incredibly easy because of the organization. It's clear that the staff is consistent with keeping all new issued comics up to date. A big thumbs up to the older gentleman with glasses for asking me if I needed help or had any questions. He helped me find every issue that I was looking for when I couldn't locate it myself. I adore this place. The place is huge, and my son has never had a problem finding what he wants. The vibe is excellent. It's palpable when you walk into a store that the staff clearly loves. My latest obsession discovered at this store was the Descender series. Good browsing, and talk to the staff about what you like and they'll lead you in the right direction. In addition to comics, because how could stores survive in the age of online shopping, they carry a wide variety of cards and games. Big selection of pre-owned Magic cards; I've found some excellent singles to complement my husband's mean, evil decks. My son has done very well with the Pokemon grab bag for $1.50 a pop. Gaming nights, with some of the most pleasant geeks you could run across. read more

Great comic book stop! This has to be the first comic book store I go into that isn't cluttered. Usually you walk into these places and they are small spaces crammed with their products. But this place had plenty of elbow room to walk around and look around. They have a nice area for the young ones which is nice to help introduce them to comics. I do really like the fact that you can actually walk around instead of squeeze around but I think their organization has much to do with it. They have Marvel and DC split up in their own respective areas as well as the more independent ones. This is the first location for GCC I've been to so I'll have to check out other locations that are closer to home. Staff was very friendly and they seemed to personally know half of the people that walked in there so it was a comforting thing to see. read more

This is a great Comic book store. I have been coming here since 2007 and they always have what I'm looking for and more. I used to write comic book reviews for my high school newspaper (what a nerd, I know) and Graham Crackers would always let me take what I wanted for free as long as I reviewed what I took. Pretty neat of them. Even though my high school days are long over, I still come back for comics (even though I now have to pay for them). Whenever they do not have a trade I am looking for (which is rare) all I have to do is let them know and they'll order it. Aside from comics, they sell movies, posters, statues/figurines, t-shirts and other comic book themed items. They are pretty cool about you coming in and looking around or standing around reading stuff without purchasing anything. Other comic book stores I have been to do not let you open the books unless you plan on buying it. The one thing I do not like about this store (hence the reason for four stars and not five) is because of the staff. They are not friendly at all. Even though I have been frequenting this place for years and years (even writing reviews on they comics they would give me for free) they never once bothered to learn my name or have a conversation with me while I was in there. And this includes the managers. I think it is because I dont wear glasses, I dont wear a superman symbol on my tshirt, and I dont throw up trekie gang signs when I walk in there. Im not a nerd and Im not a hipster and therefore they dont try to engage me in conversation. I pay and I leave. They seem to be really friendly with the dudes who go in there for the D&D (dungeons and dragons) tournaments and they know their names! I'm quite hurt by this. The only reason I keep going here is because of the wide range of comics. Ive been to others, even the graham crackers in plainfield, and Im not impressed. This place is close to where I live and they have what I need, so I will let their poor customer service skills slide. I dont want to be their friends anyways... :-( read more

We'll never be back to this place .. Ever! My brother took my Son and his friend there tonight and they were looking at some comics. They eventually sat on the floor of an area of the empty store so my brother could explain the story of one of the comics to the younger boys because he's so into all of that. The 2 people working, 1 girl and a guy with a beard said out loud "I didn't know we were starting a book club" Also, when they were taking some of the comics to browse through the guy said "You're making my job harder" I guess because they were taking things off the shelf? (In the empty store) They were very rude and when they told me what happened I was disgusted. You're running a comic store!!!! We'll buy our comics elsewhere. read more

Instead of getting straight to the point, I'm going to be long winded and talk about my history reading comics. Picked up an issue of Venom: Dark Origins from a Borders, and a couple weeks later came to Graham Crackers Comics (GCC) completely on a whim. I had been in the store when I was younger and was in a MTG phase, but I had never wandered the store, just stuck near the front counter. My first time in, I was overwhelmed. The store was large, I didn't know where anything was or even what was what. I hastily left. My second time in, I picked up Deadpool issue 3 which was conveniently labled new issue. In the next months, the layout made sense. If you're new to comic books and, like me, you walk in and get overwhelmed, I'll give you the layout of the store. You walk in, and to your right are long and short boxes for storing comics. The comics on the walls are new(ish) and those in the boxes aren't. Counterclockwise, the wall goes, Kid Comics, Independant, Marvel (With Knights, Max, and Icon imprints mixed in), Variant covers, DC, Wildstorm, and Vertigo. DC trade paperbacks are on the bookshelves near the DC comics, Indy trade paperbacks are near the back of the store where the Magic the Gathering stuff is, and Marvel is on the same wall closer to the registers. A couple months later, I mentioned out of the blue that the collector in me kinda wished I would have picked up Deadpool 1 and 2 while they were on the shelves, and Mike said "if you want us to try and track that down, I'm sure we can find it somewhere" I've been in there to just talk with the guys, music, movies, TV, but mostly comics. They've recommended to me some fantastic reads, and are just a great bunch of people to talk to. Super chill and super friendly environment. For a while they were handing me sheets of paper to sign up for Comic Club, which is just a Pull List for the more comic savvy yelpers, and I always intended on filling out, but it always got lost, or I threw it away. Months later I was checking out, and Andy said "You're in here pretty much every week right, you should sign up for Club. We'll pull your titles, and its 10% off." "I know but honestly every time I walk out the door with that paper it gets lost." "Then I'm not giving you back your comics until you fill this out in the store." And he didn't. He 'made' me fill it out in the store, and now I get 10% off on my comics. And adding and dropping titles from your pull list is as easy as talking to emailing Mike and saying, "Incredible Hulk has been really terrible lately (coughcoughIssue611Onwardcoughcough) and he'll update your list. And that has been my experience, a bunch of guys who are willing to do pretty much anything connect you with the comics you want to read. They have a huge back issue selection, they will call around to other stores, they'll special order comics, and if you're looking for something rare, they'll keep an eye out for what you want when they send guys to Cons. read more

This is the 2nd Graham Crackers I've been to. I've been to the one is Wheaton and I gotta say the one here in Naperville is better than in Wheaton. This one (Naperville) has a better variety and they have more of a comic that you want. I'm missing a lot of Batman Eternal comics and this store had at least one of every issue of that comic. It's actually kind of hard to find missing ones anywhere else. They had a whole back section to the left of gaming cards. When you walk in it pretty much starts with kids then graphic novels then Marvel and then DC. On the other side then have all the Image and Valiant and Dark Horse, etc.They have back issues basically in the middle of the store. They not only have comics though they have figures and funkos and posters and if your thirsty you can get a bottle soda. Overall I really like this store and would actually wish I lived a bit closer. read more

Okay, I haven't been here in probably four years. But for a long time, I was here every month to get my comic fix, dating back to when the store used to be located in downtown Naperville. It's hard for me to compare it to other comic shops because I've only been to a couple others. But they almost always had what I was looking for and have a big selection of trade paperbacks (or "graphic novels," for those too embarrassed to admit they read comics). They used to have a huge annual back issue sale, like 10¢ an issue. It was a big deal to me when I was just going off allowance money. I don't know if they still do this anymore. read more

This was my first time at this location and wow is it big, unfortunately I didn't have all day to spend looking through the tons of back issues they have. I in the morning after Ben Affleck was announced as the new Batman in the Superman sequel so I got to hear some heated geek talk too. Nice selection of back issues, toys and trades much bigger than my home location, if it wasn't so far away from my prime Graham Crackers store (St Charles) and the ability to ship for free to any of their stores I would come back more. This is a great establishment for all your Comic needs! It is a large friendly space with a good selection of current comics. If you are looking for back issues and graphic novels they have plenty of long boxes you can dig through combined with a healthy selection of graphic novels to wander through. The staff are excellent, too! Very knowledgeable and are willing to go out of there way to get a book for you if they don't have what you are looking for. Meh, Merry effin' Christmas! That was the attitude of the owner who was giving off attitude outside the store on his phone before I even walked in the store as he argued with someone on his cell phone. I came in with about 250 comics to sell. While they weren't a priceless collection, I really didn't appreciate the (lack of) Christmas cheer as the owner then came in belching and griping to his employees, who outnumbered the customers. The buyer was a good guy, and did his job looking over my collection, then did a count of the 'nickel' issues. The owner then came over to his buyer and LITERALLY screamed "You should have been done with that in 10 seconds. You have other things to do!" The buyer kept at it and within a minute, the owner was back again harping on him "C'mon! Do I have to be in here ALL THE TIME?" If this was my good stuff, I would have said Merry Christmas to him, packed up my stuff and left. I'll consider going back when the owner is NOT there, and selling what remains of my collection, but only after I get a VERY good idea of what it's worth and having a number in mind for what I want to walk out with. read more

This comic shop is one of the largest in the area. If you are looking for anything comic or toy related this place has it or can help find it. Mike is extremely nice and will go out of his way to help you. The rest of the staff is also very friendly and outgoing. Its just a great place to shop. The reduced star is due to their magic the gathering pricing and shopability. You cannot go in here and browse singles or binders. Their "magic" person is always hovering over you. At the Wheaton location this doesnt happen but the selection of cards isn't as good. Im all for watching out for shoplifting but when you browse comics you dont have a salesperson standing 1 feet away from you at all times. The other negative is the pricing on singles. Online a card will be .30 cents, in store you pay $1 for that same card. Some cards in their showcases are as much as twice the price as websites like tcgplayer or mtggoldfish and in worse condition. I understand you do pay "a premium" because you arent waiting a couple days for shipping but in today's shopping environment you need to complete somewhat with the internet and not gauge people. I hope in time they will realize this, but from the looks of their magic tourney turnouts, business is booming. Keep doing what you do well guys. I ask stupid questions and they always have the answers. Their stock is amazing, there are comic books galore along with all of the necessary accessories and extras. Great selection of comics and paperback. Strict rules on no reading and the employees there are somewhat helpful. I usually feel like I'm intruding. But they have tournaments going on like Magic the Gathering on Sundays. But if there was a comic book I'm missing or a specific Magic card I'm looking for, I'm usually here finding it. Although if the store doesn't carry what I'm looking for they happily search their other stores or place an order to get it to me. Which is nice... I know this store isn't exactly trying to appeal to me as a market. I'm have never read a comic in my life. That being said when I spend almost $50 on a Magic the Gathering tournament and supplies I expect not to be talked to by employees like I'm a child. I thought perhaps I had just misinterpreted the tone of the employee over the phone as having a terrible attitude, but upon arriving I found it a common theme. When I was out of the tournament I tried to buy a the last of a poster that had on display and they refused to sell it to me because "it would mess up our inventory". Literally tried to give them money. Never coming back if I can help it. I hope WOTC downgrades them. read more

I've been going here for all of my comic book needs for a while now and it's become more than just a comic shop to my weekly routine. When I go here, it's like a step outside of everyday life for a little big - just like how it feels to actually read the comics I'm buying there. It's easy to look forward to the brief chats with the staff there just as much as the comics I'll inevitably leave the store with. The owner, Mike, is one of the coolest, most down to earth, and accommodating store owners I've ever dealt with. I've been in countless comic shops where you can almost have an anxiety attack over having to ask a question of the staff for fear of being talked down to or made to feel like a dunce. I'm here to tell you, this is a safe zone for anyone with that fear. If it's within Mike and his staff's ability to help you, they jump to it and without any criticism whatsoever. Looking for a weird variant copy of a comic that came out months ago and you're certain it'll be nearly impossible to find? There's a good chance Mike will track it down for you. I can't stress how much emphasis is placed on customer service here and really, the bottom line is that the staff will treat you with respect as long as you're respectful as well...but that should be expected in ANY retail establishment. I'll leave my glowing review with this memory: there was one week that I went to pick up my comics and I hadn't realized that a charge from elsewhere had cleared on my card from a week prior, so I was a little bit short of being able to pick up my full bounty that day. A staff member who I will keep anonymous actually pulled out his wallet and began to offer to pay the difference - now it begs mentioning that we aren't anymore than acquaintances, and that is only because I'm a regular in their shop. Never, and I mean NEVER, have I had an independent shop offer to do something like that for me. Naturally I declined the offer because I knew I was getting paid that night and could come back the next day, but the gesture stuck with me. It's the people who run this store that make this location so special - once you walk in the door, the wonderful staff help you to escape reality for a while and dive into some awesome comics with a side of stellar customer service. Whether if you're looking for back issues to fill gaps in your collection or if you're interested in new titles, they have it all and whatever they don't have, they can most likely get from another of their numerous locations.
