Shopping for a very specific anime gift for a teen friend I knew I went to the right place when Mr. Wayne himself gave me a very detailed tour of his wares. This world today is far more complex than it was back in my Batman and Robin days, so I was very happy to get the assistance. They have every price point and virtually every character. I visited to look at their funko pop selection and was thoroughly impressed by their variety of pops and quantity of selection. They had pops ranging from sports, tv shows, marvel, disney, anime, horror, and more. Most items were commons but they had some more rare, graded, and signed items near the main counter. The pricing was a little above market value but it's always cool to see certain pops in person. They were running a "buy two, get one free" on pops under $50 which helps on pricing!

I guess it's clear this isn't a "card shop," it's a scalpers storefront. Don't go here looking for Lorcana--guessing the margins are too low. Except for their singles, which they sell for $2-4....crazy pricing for Lorcana. Anyways, i won't be back. Will have to continue my search for a card shop that's ethical and somewhat reasonable. --------- Edit in response to business reply: 1) i agree conversation could go a long way. But when your pricing on a brand new Pokémon set (which doesn't have a set market yet) is already 3x MSRP, what productive conversation can happen? It's just a straight up gouge. I'm not naive to expect to get everything at MSRP, but i think 3x markup 2 days post launch is unreasonable. 2) i did ask about Lorcana. I was told you "don't carry much" and "didn't have any right now." 3) you seem to be implying that you're aware prices are high and can then be negotiated lower. If that's how you want to do it that's your prerogative, just understand that's offputting for new customers. It's hard to want to establish a relationship and have a conversation when the first impression is being taken advantage of. And when your response to pricing questions is "well the hobby is thriving!" I don't think that's off base.

When I couldn't locate a particularly popular author I asked. The friendly staff was more than happy to show me. Very much a "reader's" comic shop, but they have tables set up for your D&D game or Magic or really whatever your fancy is. First, their store credit policy makes no sense: you can't use it on "premium" items, which defeats the purpose of having store credit at all. On top of that, when I sold them some premium Magic: The Gathering cards, the prices I was given were for the wrong versions. Because I had my three kids with me at the time, I didn't notice until later, but it felt dishonest and not worth the argument. What bothered me most, though, was how they treated me as a newer customer. I stood waiting for about 15 minutes with my kids while staff ignored me to casually chat and eat with tournament patrons who weren't even doing business at the time. They had recognized me, but still dismissed me while I was clearly trying to complete a transaction. It made me feel like my time -- and my business -- weren't valued. Most of the staff were nice, but the older bald gentleman was rude and dismissive, which really stood out. Between the poor credit rules, the card pricing issue, and the way I was treated as a customer, I can't recommend Thunder Comics. I like the store policy to combat scalpers, only allowing one copy to be sold per cover. When I got there, the OPEN sign was lit and the lights were on, but a small sign said "back in 5 minutes" and another sign had been flipped to closed. Tried the handle and the shop was locked. No big deal - I had 5 minutes to spare. I went back to my car. Waited 5 minutes, 10 minutes -- no change in the signage. I watched another potential shopper try the door, still locked, and they waited 5 minutes (now 15 for me). No change - they left. 3:05pm and still no one there during store hours. I saw another potential shopper try again 5 minutes later and still nobody. After 25 minutes of waiting, I gave up and went on my way. To say I'm disappointed in the service level would be an understatement. I'm giving 2 stars because I feel like it could be a good shop, but my experience doesn't reflect that at all. I hope it's a one off failure to keep track of time or maybe an emergency that came up. I'll try again another day, but I definitely won't wait the 5 minutes the sign asks for again - it can't be trusted.

I was visiting from out of state and stumbled upon Amazing Fantasy which I had never heard of…read morethough their legacy is rich and long in Chicagoland. For a smaller store, I really was impressed by the amount of back bins there were and even found some gems! And the prices were really good. The proprietor, Brock, was welcoming, helpful, insightful and a pleasure to chit chat with. He made me feel at home and took care of me. He's a very fair and generous guy! I will definitely not only recommend his location but I will be stopping in whenever I'm in the area. A+ !!!

The staff are wonderful too. The manager is a great guy. They have been so nice to me over the years. Their subscription service always makes sure they hold the comics for me that I want so I don't miss out on anything if I haven't been able to make it over ther in a minute. I've been to some of their other store locations too, but the Naperville Graham Crackers will always be number one in my eyes, my nerdy home away from home. I would not be the proud nerd I am today if not for the Naperville Graham Crackers and the wonderful people I've met there.
