He then proceeded to fear monger me (as a woman) into trying to get the oil change anyway stating, "you know your car could explode if you don't do this right?" I chose the nighttime drop off. The metal door slot is easily visible right below a sign that says, "smile, you're on camera". John, the owner, could not be more personable and fair. The service is exactly what you're asking for and the price is more than reasonable. Actually, I would consider the work to be significantly better quality and the price to be very competitive compared to several other garages by me. It's worth a $30 Uber ride each way to this auto shop to have John's team service my vehicle. I won't go anywhere else in the future.

I started with them on recommendation from my sister, and never needed to go anywhere else. Now, I do have to say that it isn't a bright and shiny place. If you want serious ambience with your car service, this won't be your place. It's also located in an alley where it's hard to maneuver and the pavement sucks. However...I have to say that Tom and Tom Jr. are THE single most honest people I've ever encountered in the auto service business! So often when little strange things have gone wrong with my vehicle, they've found a way to repair it using some little part they locate in the garage, and don't even charge me for it. Also, they are definitely "Vehicle Whisperers"--if I tell them what is happening with the vehicle {even in that weird way we women have of saying 'it's making a clunk sound', or 'when I turn left, it goes chook-oo, chook-oo, boing'}, they seem to be able to figure it right out. He says "i expected you to be down here and I didnt schedule any other work because I thought you would show up and now you wasted my time and my money" i told him "yeah I understand how that could be frustrating but i didnt think it was a firm appointment, you didnt really make it seem like it was set in stone" and he just proceeded to tell me that i should have just picked up the phone (he never even tried to call me if that were the case) and he basically just told me to get the f*** out and that he wouldn't work on my car. Funny enough this is the second time I tried to take my car here. The first time I tried doing business with him he treated me like an idiot on the phone and was very belittling, BUT he did a diagnostic on my car and helped me get to the bottom of an issue i was having. He never did any work on my car so I cant speak to his mechanic abilities but WOW is his customer service skills terrible! Dude has some anger problems and no wonder why his car lot is empty every single day when I drive by. You dont get customers by treating people like garbage.

Leanna (I think that's her name) was doing whatever she could to make the customers experience the best. The man who sits next to her is absolutely hilarious and is so extremely knowledgeable about vehicles. The service was very prompt. My car even had some issues I didn't know about and one of the mechanics came to talk to me personally about it and showed me pictures to help me understand. I called ahead for an estimate and they were right on the money. This place will never take advantage of you. I have verbally recommended to so many people already! Also side note I am not originally from PA and back home my dad would always help me with car troubles. When I don't have that type of access available in Pittsburgh, it's so nice to find a place that will not take advantage of you because you're a clueless, young woman. They go out of their way to serve their customers. One time, they even had someone give me a lift home and picked me back up because the repair was going to take a long time and they didn't want me to have to sit there. Now that's service! I have an older car so I am always worried when I take it in for the annual inspection. Michael and his team never rip you off by making up repairs or anything even on an older car which I totally appreciate. They have done both major (replaced my AC system) and minor (old change, tire rotation and inspections) work for me and I could not recommend them any more. My only gripe is their driveway which sometimes gets deep ruts in it that's hard on our other car which sits low to the ground. They do try to keep up with it to make it smoother but it's difficult since it's just gravel. Minor gripe for such a great place.
