Ice cream.... good. costumer service..... too much attitude. We came here during the week around 9. There was one family enjoying their ice cream, but no one else there. The gf asked for one taste and was given a generous taste. She then asked for a second taste and the girl behind the counter gave us this huge eye roll and attitude about it. Who knows if this attitude was directed at us, but it sure felt like it was. So much so that I did not want to ask for a taste for myself. As a result, I did not get a flavor that I necessarily enjoyed and the gf reluctantly got the best flavor of the two she tried. The ice cream was good, but I wish I would have enjoyed mine a bit more and I think if I had tried different flavors I would have truly been able to pick the flavor I wanted. The only other thing taking away my experience here is the cost of the ice cream. It is a bit pricey for an everyday ice cream kind of night. I did notice as we were eating our ice cream that there were many people who were coming in to buy a pint of ice cream only. The manager of this place is so rude and abrupt, and not welcome at all. I have not seen a place where you want to leave as soon as possible just because of her behavior. We stopped by for ice cream first time in this place couple days ago and the manager acted very short and not nice at all. Other 3 employers felt lost and not experienced, and they seemed to be afraid of manager strange behavior too. I've been eating Graeters since I first went to Cincinnati about 15 years ago. This location is clean, fast (even with a very long line on Father's day), and the teenagers serving the ice cream were actually very nice - they chatted with me about my sample choices and seemed to actually NOT be judging me. As others have said, the blackberry chip and the mocha chip are their best flavors, but the thing that makes Graeter's stand out is the chips - they use a special process where they pour liquid chocolate into the freezing cream mixiture so it's not "chips" really - it's enormous, rich, melty, freaking *fantastic* chocolate - sometimes little flakes and sometimes huge huge chunks. It's so so good. I had eaten Jeni's the day before (I really really heart ice cream) and in stark contrast, Graeters does NOT have the same quality mouthfeel - it has more of a gritty/iciness. I swear 15 years ago it didn't, although it was never as smooth as Jeni's, who prides themselves on their pristine texture. It could have also been a function of a very warm day/doors opening/serving so many people, or Graeters could be slipping since they branched. When I went to the one in Northbrook, I had the same problem. However, I still enjoy the flavors and of course, the chocolate in Graeters though, and will return. read more

We drove way out of our way from Evanston to go here, and it did not disappoint! My favorite flavor is their classic - the black raspberry chip. On a snowy and sleet filled evening after consuming pizza at Napolita in Wilmette, my friend and I trekked over to Graeter's to get ice-cream, because what Chicagoan doesn't want ice-cream even when the weather is crappy out? Situated where the old Panera used to be, this is Graeter's is very spacious and bigger than the one in Northbrook. It is also so very spic and span! I was seriously impressed with how all the employees (I think most likely high schoolers) were cleaning and tidying up everything. Even the spaces underneath the countertops were very orderly! I tried a sample of the eggnog ice-cream but it was a tough call between that and the cherry chocolate chip...seasonal or a standard? Unfortunately, my stomach said that I could only handle a single scoop, so I went for the cherry chocolate chip while my friend got the raspberry chocolate chip. We enjoyed every bit while discussing the downfalls of online dating. I mean really...guys ghosting after a month of talking on the phone, texting, and hanging out?(rolling our eyes) The foregone conclusion was...Graeter's was absolutely more reliable, and a sure thing when it comes to bringing a smile to our face, so there you go. Delicious ice cream! Welcome to Hubbard woods! I've tried Graeters from the grocery frozen section and it was good. It is so much better hand scooped in the store, not sure why. The waffle cones are fresh and crispy. There is ample seating and a few offerings of candy and other gifty items. My son is a fan of the milkshakes and I like to try the flavor of the month. Kindness is important. The way you speak to a customer is important. I plus others were spoken to in a really gruff tone today. Please train your employees in kindness. The words please and thank you matter. Volume matters. Yelling at customers to obey rules rather than talking in a calm tone is rude. Customers are not intentionally messing things up yet we might need gentle reminders during this time. Don't touch the counter. Move forward and pay. Could you ask nicely? Shouting in a gruff tone is not what an ice cream visit is supposed to be about. I understand the employee might be under stress yet have a kinder employee take on that role then. Also putting ice cream cones into cups? How does that help us? Most ice cream shops put the ice cream in a cone and you are all set. Yes, even now. I am very respectful and it would be nice to receive the same. Plus if you really want to take the extra step of keeping people safe it would be better to offer prewrapped spoons. read more

As much as I adore my Toffee Chocolate Chip Milkshake and my Mango Sorbet Ice Cream, the "deluxe" rows of mini chocolates, which look amaze-balls are not 1, not 2, but around 30 dollars! I will spend around 10 bucks on these chocolates, but never 30. However, Graeters isn't known for their chocolates. They are known for their ice cream. They have about any flavor that you could think of, but they add chocolate chips to it. Yum! In addition to that, they also make the grossest flavors possible. But somehow. Somehow they manage to make the worst flavors good. For example, I was a bit uneasy before trying cinnamon ice cream. But I tried it, liked it, and got a large ice cream cup of it! Greeters is the go to place if you need cake for a birthday, some ice cream after lunch, or even just a pack of Bean Boozled!
