This is the best Graeters location by far, I am a little closer to the Northbrook location but go out of my way for this one because the scoops are just so firm and the perfect temp. Whatever temp their freezer is at/whoever manages the ice cream quality here is doing a fantastic job! Staff are always lovely too. read more

We went to get the black raspberry chocolate ice cream, because my cousin said it was the absolute best. They were so sweet they let me try samples of several of their flavors. All of their ice cream was incredible. It is smooth, creamy and delicious! I ended up getting Chocolate Peanut Butter (Buckeye Blitz) and Boldly Bearcat- all I remember is Marscapone and chocolate? All I know is it was good! The service was outstanding, and the place is beautiful. Welcoming, clean and lovely. Thank you for a great first experience! I have to say something to the person who was upset about them making a chocolate shake with CHOCOLATE ice cream- that is how they should be made. Not with vanilla and chocolate syrup. That is not the correct way to make a chocolate shake. That could be why the person was confused read more

Nice outlet for ice cream in Winnetka, and also appears to be the only place in town to get ice cream. Beautiful and clean interior, crowded on weekends, very nice assortment of flavors (we tried black raspberry chocolate chip and chocolate), and very smooth product. We also ordered a chocolate shake, and they began to make it with chocolate ice cream ... when we interrupted and said we'd like it with vanilla ice cream, they almost plotzed. The server just wasn't sure how to do it (as info, we are talking about vanilla ice cream, a little milk, and a couple splashes of chocolate syrup). Anyway, since we were starting to feel like we were more trouble than they could handle, we accepted what they tried to make and soon disposed of it. Other than that slip, this was a nice ice cream visit. read more

Yum !I hadn't eaten Graeter's in over 10 years and wow is it good . This ice cream is so smooth and delicious. I could easily eat a pint in one sitting . Speaking of pints, you can pick up as many as you like . They also give generous samples of their delicious ice cream . The boys who served us were so sweet and it was nice going into such a beautiful ice cream shop . They also have gummies available for sale as well . Inside is clean and fancy looking which is fitting for being tucked away in beautiful Winnetka! What a treat ! Literally read more

I visited Graeter's Ice Cream in Winnetka, IL, over both Memorial Day and Independence Day weekends and quickly realized it's a must-stop if you're in the area. The diversity of flavors is amazing--I especially loved the Buckeye Blitz and Coconut Chocolate, with Smores as a runner up. While the ice cream is outstanding, the experiences had downsides. Some of the younger people working there seemed unhappy to be there. On the customer side, uncontrolled kids, parents sharing a single cone, and people cutting in line--sometimes even around elderly patrons using walkers--made the visit a bit stressful. Despite these issues, I would return any day I'm in the area; the ice cream is worth it. For those unfamiliar, Graeter's is a regional chain, so there may be locations near you, and they also offer shipping. The shop has convenient off-street parking, which is a nice bonus. Overall, a top-notch ice cream experience tempered by some service and crowd frustrations. For this store, I ask that you put up ceremony velvet rope type of things across the entire bar past the checkout so people have to stay in line within a space and can't cut it. Maybe the parents will manage their kids this way (plenty of table space folks). Graeter's is trying to provide an upscale experience. The people need to act like they have some class. read more

I have enjoyed the Graeter's Ice Cream store in Winnetka, Illinois, for several years. The ice cream is always excellent. The flavor variety is remarkable. The service is always friendly. The atmosphere is awesome. The employees at this store are kind and welcoming, and are always nice to talk to. I have many good memories from this great ice cream store. Thank you to Graeter's Ice Cream for being a wonderful part of both the Winnetka community, and the general Chicagoland community. I look forward to many more visits! God bless! read more

Even though Graeter's is 30 minutes from us, we come often, and it's worth it every time! We love the Black Raspberry Chip, Cookie Dough, and Boldly Bearcat. The staff are always friendly, and it's always clean. We will continue being customers, and tell everyone to come! Highly recommend. read more

I guess this is the only ice cream game in town besides going to the store? It's very crowded on a Saturday night in July.. the businesses hired a bunch of high school kids for summer jobs I guess and it's really not working for me. Nobody really has a designated job. They just kind of go down the line of people and ask him if they've been served it's very inefficient.. every single kid that was working there had a filthy filthy apron on. I got a turtle sundae and while it was fine it was just fascinating. Watching the gal fix it.. it was peak inefficiency and took about 10 minutes to make.. from mixing the chocolate with the nuts in a separate cup that got thrown away to using all her strength to squeeze the butterscotch out of a bottle while everybody around me got served ? whatever it was just fascinating. Pretty small serving for I don't know what I paid eight or nine dollars. It was "fine". Half melted (hot fudge). I will stick to the homer's ice cream that you can buy in the store.. lol. Shorter line better ice cream. read more

Made in Cinncinati Ohio, but DANG it's great ice cream using the French Pot ice creaming method to get ultra smooth and dense ice cream. Their black raspberry chocolate chip is bomb! Best flavor they have at least 1st time I went 11/6/2021. NOW, the best flavor is "Buckey Blitz Chocolate Chip" with GREAT peanut butter cookie dough in it, unheard of! And unique cookie dough, BETTER than their and others regular cookie dough and i don ion like peanut butter! read more

Such a great place to entertain the young and old alike. A lot of wonderful flavors. The only negative is it's a bit pricey.

Graeters is hands down the best icecream in the north shore. It's expensive but well worth the price.

This has to be the best ice cream I have ever had, holy moly! I'm not even a huge dairy fan, and typically just the smell of dairy ice cream makes me gag, but this stuff is the good stuff! It's creamy and fresh, and doesn't have freezer burn like you'll find at other chains. The staff was also incredibly kind and patient when we rolled in with our medium sized group of friends while we were out and about on program. Highly recommend! Yum! read more

I took my family to Graeter's in Winnetka, hoping to try something different from our usual spots, Homer's and Oberweis. Big mistake! The ice cream was awful--tasted like watered-down simple syrup with some artificial flavoring thrown in. It was honestly gross, and even my kids couldn't stand it. Total waste of calories! I have no idea how they've managed to stay in business for so long. Definitely won't be coming back. read more

When your child has a medical issue (celiac or severe food allergies) going out can be TOUGH. We took a deep breath, prepping ourselves for the whole spiel on how to make sure the ice cream was safe. The moment we mentioned Celiac, the young woman behind the counter jumped into action. She went through the flavors that are definitely GF and said she would get a fresh tub and scoop from the back. Can I just tell you how relieved we were? Kudos to Graeter's. You've clearly trained your employees well! And I haven't even told you how creaming and amazing the ice cream was! I grew up in Ohio and grew up on Graeter's. It was like an old friend. And the ice cream is as delish as I remember it being. We had a lovely and relaxed outing. We will be back! read more

Visited here for the first time on a Saturday randomly. This is a former Panera bread location in Hubbard woods. Street parking is a challenge but free. I came across this brand by purchasing it at the local grocery store and realized that they had two locations in the north suburbs all along. Read my way here on a Saturday in the winter and there was no line however there are quite a few families and children. The menu is extensive and there are choices for eating in or taking it out to go with pints already packed. Pricing is fair considering the area and I have to come back! read more

I can't believe I haven't reviewed this location yet. We have come a handful of times since it is right across the way from a park, great location. The space is big and the staff is always friendly. There are lots of flavors to chose from and they always have the new flavors highlighted on a separate board. Today we got the dark chocolate brownie and the strawberry cheesecake. Both were really good. We got them in a sugar cone but also asked for a cup as with littles I've learned its alway is better to have that cup handy. The staff was so accommodating to that which is nice. Great place to pop in for a cold treat! read more

My daughter and I were out the other evening and decided to venture a bit up Green Bay Road to try Graeter's for the first time. It was a warm summer evening, yet we were mortified to see that their large space was packed with people, with no masks on! I drove around twice to look again and I was not wrong. It was PACKED. We sat in front of their window for a minute, in disbelief. There is still a pandemic going on that apparently folks in this area aren't concerned about, but we were...and decided to venture back to our corner of the north shore where people are still wearing masks or at least socially distancing. read more

Ice cream = A+ delicious yet expensive (1 scoop = $5ish). Coffee = C Delicious but no other options for milk except for regular milk (grade = C) Interior = A Cute, clean, ample seating, bathrooms were clean Staff = D For an ice cream shop, you'd expect friendlier employees. No greeting, no smile. Meh. Staff here were just going through the motions. The male employee ignored me and moved on to taking the order of the person behind me. The female employee who helped me was fine (not friendly, not rude either) but just going through the motions. At the register, the manager rang me up without greeting either. Staff was a total turn off. A local neighborhood ice cream shop should have friendlier vibes. Delicious ice cream but not raring to go back. read more

Kids love the ice cream! Love how they have special flavors every month but sad when they go. Husband is loving the coconut chocolate with almonds - it taste like an almond joy!! My favorite is still the cookies and cream! Kids love raspberry sorbet to mint chocolate chip to chocolate. Great ice cream and the cookies and cream ice cream cake was delicious. Lots of nice people who work here and they don't mind giving samples for my indecisive children. Thanks! read more

We popped in about 30 minutes before close on a summer evening. We had just missed one rush and just beat another. The employees seemed to be working well under the hefty stream of customers. The Double Dish (2 scoops) I had with a special cotton candy ice cream and double chocolate chip was quite tasty. The price wasn't so bad at $5.25 for 2 "scoops" (the bowl was very well filled). Tasty ice cream and the establishment has a fair amount of space / seating for the group we brought in to beat the summer humidity. I'd say that's a win! Their sundaes look quite tasty but also only what you'd expect topping wise - nothing crazy. That's OK - if they know what they are good at and stick to it you can add some of your own toppings from their menu to make things a little more interesting. read more

For me summer means ice cream time and one of my favorite ice cream shops is Greater's Ice Cream. I always get their black raspberry chocolate chip in the waffle cone. I think it's one of the most popular flavors. It's really delicious it's made from farm fresh cream, harvested fruit and real gourmet chocolate. Greater's Ice Cream is a 4th generation family business that has been handcrafting ice cream for generations. Their shop is always very busy sometimes with a line out the door but it's worth the wait. You can enjoy your ice cream in the shop or outside across street at the park. What could possibly go wrong with a Banana Split?!? Nothing, nothing at all. Especially on a beautiful Saturday evening. We ate ice cream at multiple locations across Chicago and this one was an unexpected stop since we were touring locations from the filming of Home Alone... well, let me just say the ice cream is the BEST we've ever had... and we come from the land of Braum's, so that's saying a lot. The raspberry chip was my personal favorite, but our group tried multiple flavors and loved them ALL. We also tried iced coffee which was so-so - I'd recommend sticking to the ice cream. As a transplant most recently on the West Coast, I was very confused when a friend started raving about a Midwestern ice cream company called 'Graeters'. "Graeters", I thought, "It sounds like Gators. Who would want to name an ice cream company something that sounds like an alligator?" I was also quite confounded, as I thought I was aware of most tasty major ice cream chains in the US. Alas...I was wrong. While Graeters may not have the pomp and circumstance of other brands through jazzy branding and curiosity inducing flavors, they are not to be underestimated. Graeters has taken the craft of ice cream and perfected it through an outstanding texture, tried and true flavors, as well as impeccable fillings. Graeter's biggest differentiator is the texture of their fillings. When one takes a bite out of a pint of Graeters Cherry Chocolate Chip, your mouth is greeted by a melt in your mouth chocolate ribbon. The Graeters Peach has the softest tidbits of fresh peach that dance on the tongue. Unlike other ice creams, the fillings aren't hard masses or lumps, they are pure bits of magic mixed into an indulgent ice cream. After experiencing the delight that is Graeters, all thoughts of Gators were out of mind. read more

First thing the assistant manager did when I walked in was yell at my family and I to stand behind the line. Not ask, but tell. Apparently this was only enforced with us, because employers talked to other customers who were NOT behind the line with no problem (see one example in pictures). No other customer was asked to stand behind the line. Family can not sit together, or stand by each other, if more than 4. They also kept yelling at a 3 and a half year old that he needs a mask. He's 3 and a half! They even messed up our order because they were so concerned about the child's mask to pay attention to the order. We ate our ice cream in the park. Ice cream is really good! As we were walking back to our car, we walked past the ice cream shop, and a family came out without ice cream and says "don't go in there, they're rude!" - I smiled and said "I agree". Losing customers because of the horrible service. Such a shame. This was always a family friendly place that we brought the kids to. read more

5 stars for customer service 5 stars for quality 5 stars for EVERYTHING. I placed an online order for pick up without knowing I'd be placing it via Postmates (MAKE SURE TO USE GRAETER'S APP TO AVOID MISUNDERSTANDINGS ON BOTH ENDS!) Warm weather and park play dates are about to get even more exciting in Winnetka... Yay! The new Graeter's finally opened up in town, right across the street from Hubbard Woods Park. It's nicely sized with lots of tables, and a nice corner shop location. Who needs the ice cream truck with these guys in town? Here's what I love about Graeter's...ummm...well the ice cream of course. Today I had a scoop of their salted caramel chocolate chip. Since it was before lunch, they were nice enough to give me a kid-size scoop $3.75. Holy creamy cow! Rich...thick...caramelly...salty...with super big chocolate chunks. The ice cream was so thick it seemed like each spoonful had cookie dough mixed in. Wait, did it? Here's what bums me out about Graeter's. It's a bit pricey for an every day treat (but totally worth the splurge). I'm glad I don't live in the neighborhood, because I would want to go every day! Kid scoop + regular scoop of sorbet = $9. Hey, here's a thought...cut out Starbucks and replace with ice cream? Note: They also serve coffee from a roaster in Cincinnati. We would have loved to try it, but they didn't have any made. Could have been perfect on this cold and rainy day. read more

Yeah they have their chocolate here... as opposed to Northbrook which is a kosher store. You really have to get some buckeye balls. I'm not fooling, even though it's April Fool's Day, strawberry chocolate chip is this month's special. Always something going on across the street at Hubbard Woods too. I hope they do Wednesdays in the park concerts again. Growing up in Cincinnati... already makes me a huge fan.
