I saw Graeter's ice cream everywhere and kind of over looked it, assuming it was maybe just some local chain with decent-ish ice cream. Boy was I wrong. This is dense, ultra creamy deliciousness. I had a scoop of the toffee chocolate chip. The toffee flavor is well integrated and rich, with a deep, dark caramelized depth. The chocolate chips highlight one of the strengths of Graeter's, which is because of the French pot style they use, you will end up getting huge chunks of chocolate chips (almost like frozen ganache) which are incredibly fun to eat, especially if you're the kind of person who likes to turn ice cream eating into an excavation of delicious bits. So, there I was, with time to spare before my flight, and I made a beeline to this heavenly terminal. Now, I've dabbled in the classics before, like their famed Black Raspberry Chocolate Chip - and let me just say, it's a love affair I never want to end. But this time I was feeling adventurous, so I let the girl behind the counter talk me into trying her personal favorite: Mocha Chocolate Chip. But the adventure didn't stop there - oh no! I also snagged a slice of their Chess Pie as I'd never had one beforeas I'd never had one before. What a wonderful surprise! My early morning flight out toDenver got seriously delayed by ~10 hours (along with my other connecting flight in Denver), so I found myself unexpectedly stranded at CVG airport for quite extended time. Luckily, my airline also made the wait more palatable by sending me a food/drink voucher to spend at the airport while waiting. So, off I went looking for something good to eat (..but...if you looked..there weren't many well rated options ..let alone many dining establishments there). I stopped by Graeter's with a mission to spend my voucher and was so grateful I think I picked something yummy! Graeter's is a classic that every ice cream aficionado needs to try. I am from Ohio and am obsessed with ice cream, so I am one of their biggest advocates. My grandpa also always reminds me of the time when Oprah held an ice cream judging contest (circa 2002?) and Graeter's came out on top. No surprise to anyone in Cincinnati! I live in Arizona now and I'm so grateful we have a few pints of Graeter's options available in our local Fry's grocery store (owned by Kroger!). Whenever I'm back home, a Graeter's trip is a must. Whether it's via the cool new drive through location in Jungle Jim's in Fairfield, the Crocker Park location in Cleveland, or the local Bexley scoop shop in Columbus where I first tried out Graeter's with my dad! The classic flavor (that you MUST try) is the Black Raspberry Chip. I also love Double Chocolate Chip, Peanut Butter Chip and Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough. Aside from being around for over 150 years, Graeter's is known for their mega massive chocolate chips in their ice cream. It's always a fun competition to see who in your party got the biggest chunk in their serving! All told, I rarely fly into CVG, but I wouldn't expect anything less than to have their own Graeter's for weary travelers to partake in. Bonus that this location also has a bakery and an assortment of Graeter's souvenirs for you to take home to your loved ones. Love it! Cincinnati is famous for cheese coney and Graeter's ice cream. Arriving back at the airport after short one night stay in the area, I was sad I couldn't try the famous ice cream (over 145 years of history for best handcrafted ice cream). I just had huge lunch, I was looking for bar to get a nice glass of wine. I was looking at the airport directory and saw "Graeter's".. My plan to get wine quickly changed and started cheerfully walking to the Graeter's ice cream stand. They are located near the gate A11. I stood in front of ice cream for what it seems like a long time. I had to make the most difficult decision of the day. I was already full from lunch so I only have room for one kind of ice cream. Chocolate chip or raspberry... I chose chocolate. For the next 30 seconds while I was eating my ice cream, I was in heaven. I fell asleep shortly after I finished eating my ice cream. I call this food coma. Good thing I was sitting at my gate A11. I woke up to noise of fellow passengers. No trip to Cincinnati is complete without Graeter's ice cream and they have a small kiosk at the airport terminal. Great way to end trip to Cincinnati! (Technically I never went to Cincinnati Ohio as I stayed on the Kentucky side). I highly recommend setting alarm clock before opening ice cream. I will say first off, this reflects the airport location, which, I know from experience can always take a 5 Star place into a 1. I can't comment on parking as I was dropped off. I had a Cookies and Cream Sundae with hot fudge whip cream and a cherry on top. From first glance this $6.50 cent Sunday looked to disappoint as it was not even as high as the bowl they put it in (even with the mounds of whip cream) The cherry was good(stock maraschino) the whip cream was super whippey and creamy! The hot fudge was delicious just like store bought... the ice cream however tasted more of ice than cream. Maybe a bad batch? An old batch? But it tasted like that "frozen dairy treat" "ice cream" but more freezer burn. If I were you I would skip this place( at least the airport location) read more

At 5 a.m. on a Monday, the line out of Starbucks in Terminal A was ridiculous and the line was not moving. I decided to move past Starbucks and was excited to see that Graeter's was open at the crack of dawn. I ordered an iced coffee with sugar free vanilla sweetener and a little bit of cream. There was virtually no line at Graeter's, which really excited me. Everything about the experience was "just okay." I truly appreciated the fact that there was no line to wait in, but the looks I got from the cashier told me that they wanted to keep it that way. It's super frustrating coming from the tourism industry and watching a Cincinnati icon treat our visitors in a less than stellar manner. The cashier looked as though they were burnt out already (and I can't imagine they had been on the clock more than an hour or two). The woman making my drink seemed quite friendly though and quickly greeted me with a smile and my drink. Forewarning about the iced coffee (with sugar free sweetener): Somehow, and maybe this is because I ordered it with the sugar free sweetener, it tasted nearly as sweet as the ice cream that they serve. I think next time I would tell them to add half the normal amount of sweetener. All in all, Graeter's got me my caffeine fix without a long wait. I'd love to see this location up their customer service game a bit, though. read more

As a former Ohio State student Graeter's is generally a destination stop when I'm visiting Ohio. It's more nostalgia than anything. I almost always get the Raspberry Chocolate chip although there are many Good flavors to choose from. I visited this location at the Cincinnati airport on my way home. I thought it was great that they had a way to take pints of ice cream home with you. I ended up also picking up a Graeter's candle in a coffee mug that was pretty cool. Their most popular flavor is black raspberry chip, simply amazing and better than any other black raspberry you can imagine! The 'chip' flavors all have chocolate pieces that range from specs, to chocolate chip sized, to the size of a small candy bar if you are lucky, and it's great high quality chocolate. I'm not sure what effect the pricing for parking at the airport should have for a review of this kiosk at the airport, but apparently it's important enough to affect it. I've been a fan of the ice cream for years. I've mail ordered it and had it shipped overnight across country. Not cheap. I made a special effort to go through Cincinnati when it was a major hub because there was an ice cream case in the back corner of a news agent in the back corner of the terminal. Heard great things about Graeter's and wanted to try it once before I flew home. Luckily there was this store right at our gate. I was a little disappointed they don't offer a kid's size cup as I usually can only handle four ounces of ice cream at one time. I was able to get a 5oz container from the freezer that was pre-packaged, but would have preferred fresh scooped. I got chocolate chip cookie dough. It was very enjoyable. They sell their ice cream at the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky Airport so we picked up a little bit to go before our flight. Hello plane snacks! I tried the vanilla bean and the chocolate, chocolate chunk. Both were amazing but I was really digging the vanilla bean. ***There is a lot of advertising throughout Cincinnati / Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG) promoting this Graeter's, which is in the United terminal; it is not really a shop though but just a kiosk selling packaged sweets and packaged ice cream in single servings or as ice cream sandwiches; the variety is not that great; I believe most of the flavors offered here can be found at Ralphs grocery stores in California; you really need to visit one of Graeter's standalone shops in Cincinnati to get the full experience*** This Graeter's is located past security so it is only open to air travelers.
