3 taco plate (all fish tacos)

The little Mexican restaurant inside the market is DELICIOUS! It was my first time going there tonight. I had the fish tacos which were the best I've had in Santa Cruz County--so fresh and the plate was dressed so appealingly. The others in my party had burritos which they very much enjoyed. So, so glad we gave this place a try. Service was polite and efficient, restaurant was very clean! Service in the market was also very friendly, and there was a nice variety of candy, snacks, ice cream, and beverages. Market itself was clean and well-organized. Thank you! I'll be back!

Noelle's Yelp Notebook 2020 Grady's Market is across the street from Gayle's Bakery and Rotisserie. We come here often to pick up a bag of ice for our cooler when heading out to the beach or going hiking. A bag of small bag of ice is about $7 This market is clean and well organized. They have cold drinks, sandwiches to go, snacks (trail mix, cookies, Costco muffins wrapped in plastic wrap). There is an endless selection of sundries. The customer service is good. It should also be noted they sell masks if you need one during this pandemic. Noelle's Notes They sell facial masks Good customer service Great selection of sundries They sell loaves of sandwich bread

I had one of the most unnecessarily frustrating experiences I've ever had at any store. I went in…read moreto buy a non alcoholic mixer, (literally just $6 green apple syrup) and because I didn't have my ID, the cashier, Ariel, decided to ask me about my age. I told her I was over 21 (which is obvious), my birthday, and offered a photo of my id (I lost my wallet earlier this week), and instead of explaining anything, she refused the sale, stared at me, then turned her back and ignored me like I wasn't even there. No explanation, no basic courtesy, nothing. I left completely confused thinking that maybe the mixer was alcoholic so I looked it up. Found it online and was labeled as non alcoholic. My friend encouraged me to go back in and ask what the problem was, and when I did, I was treated with condescension like I was an idiot for not magically knowing their store policy. The attitude alone was enough to make me walk out again. But the part that really pushed this from "bad service" to "unprofessional and rude" was when my friend went in to buy the exact same non alcoholic item, and Ariel not only sold it to them (even though she obviously assumed it was for me), but made a snarky, unnecessary comment, "Tell your friend next time they need their ID to buy something from a liquor store." I work at a liquor store. We do not ID for non alcoholic mixers. You can shop at a liquor store without needing an ID. That is non a standard policy. If she truly believed I was underage and followed store policy, why knowingly sell it to someone else on my behalf? And why talk about me to another customer with that kind of attitude? It was petty and completely unprofessional. This review isn't about the policy as stores have rules. It's about how the employee went out of her way to be dismissive, unhelpful, and downright rude. I've never been treated with this level of disrespect over a non alcoholic product that I could've easily bought at any other store without issue. There are plenty of other places that manage to enforce their policies without treating customers like a nuisance.

I was hungry and one sandwich was just a lot right to feel full. Be aware for first timers the process to get your food is a bit confusing. You'll head into the back right hand side of the store to place your order verbally with a staff member. Then, get in line at the regular register to pay. No one told me what to do after that, so I spent a long time waiting in front of the staff member I had placed my order with. This was wrong. You're actually supposed to stand in the area between the register and the liquor section and they'll call your name there. Hopefully this will save anyone reading this the same confusion I had :)

Frequently mentioned as the best sandwiches in the Santa Cruz area. True? Difficult to say but…read morethese are very good sandwiches. It all starts with the bread: the sweet French roll is airy, soft, and fluffy inside with a crisp but not hard crust. A touch sweet. The sourdough is also strong but the French roll is better. In my opinion the two best sandwiches are the Italian sub and the Italian special. Despite the similar names, they are completely different sandwiches. The former has ham, salami & mortadella while the latter is roast beef and pesto. Confusing, right? The ordering and paying is slightly confusing, and it's cramped inside while you're waiting for your sandwich.

The issues I mentioned before have noticeably improved, and overall the store now feels much better. Both staff and customers seem considerate of one another, which creates a calm and pleasant shopping environment. While there was one past incident that left a bad impression, I don't believe it represents this location as a whole. This has long been my go-to Safeway in the neighborhood, and this time I'm definitely giving it five stars.

However the day of the pick up I see the cake and it was a mess. It was nothing how I wanted it to be, the wrong color, spelled my name wrong, didn't even add any decorations. To top it off! the person working the counter the day of picking up the cake was heartless, maniac who could've cared less about my birthday who refused to help me at all. This was a terrible experience causing me to be very frustrated and upset, practically ruining my birthday. Never purchase a birthday cake from Safeway. Here you can see my reference photo vs. what they did, and my attempt to fix it with blue frosting that they told me to do myself.
