That means if you park here, do not go inside and/or leave your car for a few hours it won't be there when you get back. Consider yourself warned. I'm pretty much ok with that as well, there will always be a spot right up front when you visit. That's not something that you should assume will be possible in santa cruz. Inside there are a couple of tables, a bench overlooking the front lot/street and a small cozy not quite a garden spot in back. Even though this is a convenience they try hard to make it not feel like one. The seating winds up being cozier then you'd think. In addition to the shelves of overpriced dry goods (you know the drill. They have everything you forgot to bring, but it'll cost you.) they have their own prep kitchen which they use to make fresh deli things of varying degrees of tastiness. Basically if you get a sandwich or a burrito you find meh-that was prolly not one they prepared on site. Good selection of Marianne's ice cream treats(nutty bars, chocolate covered cheescake slices etc) all the it's it made (Pay attention. The mint and the green tea flavors look-but do not taste-identical) a decent wine selection, a solid craft beer aisle, and a daily rotation of thoroughly snackable items. While I wasn't any too impressed with the breakfast burrito(outsourced from a vendor), I do consider this a decent sammich/soup/chil/salad choice. Also a great choice for whatever you need for that grab and go food run. Pricing is whatever you want to spend. Ye olde hood snack of chips and a soda clocks in at less then five, but a couple sandwiches, soup, salad, bread and a bottle of wine can get you into the forty ish dollar range. Overall it's very much the decent choice if you are nearby.

If you're thinking of getting a sandwich, just go to Whole Foods or New Leaf and get a legit sandwich made right in front of you, if you don't like it, they'll make you another one at no charge usually. The Food Bin and Herb Room are outdated. The place is like an old hippie that smokes cigarettes instead of cannabis, NO BUENO.

From the moment we walked in we were met with kind helpful people who were actually attentive and happy to assist. There was no attitude or indifference, just friendly efficient service. The team here clearly cares about what they do and about the customers walking through the door. The produce is fresh vibrant and well-organized, with a great mix of organic and local options that are thoughtfully stocked. Everything looked clean and cared for from the shelves to the displays, and it made shopping here feel relaxed and enjoyable. The prices are solid too, better than most other local places when you factor in the quality. It does not feel overpriced, and you actually leave with the sense that you got value for your money. What stood out the most to me is the atmosphere. This place has a soul. You are not just shopping, you are being welcomed. That is rare. I understand about recent inflation and I am okay with spending more on good quality food, however it has become exorbitant-- $35 (plus fees and delivery) on a salad that says it feeds 2 people yet barely feeds one person. I could go to a nice local restaurant like Mentone and get the same sized salad freshly made for $18. $48 for meat entrees that are supposed to feed 2-3 people yet have one small chicken breast and feed one person. It felt expensive yet worth it when I started with Golden Roots a few years ago but now it costs $190 per meal to feed our family of four, because we need two entrees and two salads for it to be enough food, including fees and delivery. We found another delivery service that uses organic ingredients and is a better value. I will miss Golden Root's food.

Groceries are so expensive and to buy the ingredients to make dishes like this is cost prohibitive. It is also cheaper than eating out every night. The servings are generous, the recipes are really delicious and they switch it up, but not so much that you don't get excited to see new favorites back in a few weeks. They use compostable packaging and jars and paper bags that I returned so there is zero waste except for one type of small bag they use. I also like that I can be on the "a la carte" plan, chosing the meals and the quantity myself each week. You can also do a subscription where they take care of all the planning for you and it happens automatically. We pick order up at the yummy smelling little shop on Tuesday afternoons. They always have delicious treats at the front table and the sweet staff hand over the goods. I feel so good supporting a local woman owned business who hires locals and uses local produce and ingredients. It is everything I want to support. I realize that for families this might be entirely too expensive but if you are single or a couple maybe check them out!

I was really excited, it seemed high tech and nice, and was excited to make it my go-to. Unfortunately it did not get the car clean (even with the highest level of wash available), and when we got back home we saw there were black speckles on about 8 of the body panels on our pretty new and recently waxed car. This was handily the worse wash we have tried in the area. I wasn't worried because the other places we had dealt with recently would just send us back through if there were any problems, so we headed back over to the wash to help them make it right. When we got there I described my problem, and there was clearly stress about it so this was not the first time it had happened. The person who seemed in charge wanted to see it, so I took him out and showed him the speckles fully expecting an easy solution. Unfortunately he rather brusquely informed me that it was only on a small area (8 body panels is apparently small) and that he could offer to let me buy a towel for something like another 3 bucks so that I could clean it myself. Are you serious? You're going to try to upsell on a customer retention issue?!? Absurd. When we looked around we noticed signs advertising towels for your car wash implying that they were for finishing the job not drying the car. This was not the first time they had had this conversation. I went home and used my own towel and quick detailer to finish they job they failed to do, and most certainly wiped the 4 dollars extra worth of wax upsell off on the 8 body panels that I found myself having to clean by hand having payed for an automatic car wash an hour before. So the way I see it: 3 stars for a below average wash at a slightly lower price than some, minus one star for trying to upsell me and asking me for my labor to get the job done, and minus another star for the bad customer experience/ attitude. Even a simple apology and explanation that touch less car washes have advantages but also technical limits would have avoided everyone reading this review, but that's not what happened:-/ Really unfortunate, we liked this place, but I don't see any reason why we should support a place that does this kind of stuff.
