Fruit tart
Rosey Y.

I literally go to nob hills once a week. I love their sushi and fruit tarts! The service is nice. The sushi chefs recognize me for coming in so often and ordering poke bowls. The ambiance is nice but nob hills can get very busy at times. Get their sushi and fruit tarts!!

Super friendly customer service / grocery store associates. Pricing can be a bit expensive, but you are getting good quality items. Bougie grocery store in Capitola. Large parking lot. Clean and organized store.

Very conveniently located right off the highway. Nob Hill Foods has always been a great place to shop with fresh products and great customer service.

good ass grocer only a little nauseous the whole time really wanted soup... there was NO zoup.... disappointed we ended up getting - crinkle cut carrots $1.98 - baby whole kosher dolls $priceless - two green juices for digestion reasons - microwave potato - gerber baby apple puff - vejetabel sushie life hack= Nob Hill Grocer

I like this place. But went in last week and found cold cuts that had expired. There happened to be three employees right behind me. All they could do was extend a hand and toss the spoiled turkey into a basket. Didn't say a thing. Today I go to get cold cuts and I find expired turkey. I went to the deli counter instead. But this has me questioning all the items in the store.

No bags. They charge you for bags. Can't bring your own. Safeway isn't charging for bags. What a scam!
Candice K.

Why isn't the guy behind the deli counter wearing a mask? And the kid talking nonstop while bagging my groceries wearing a mask? And why are you charging for bags while not allowing anyone to bring in their own bags? Come on Nob Hill!! This is ridiculous

Juana helped to create this hand held bridal bouquet. Amazing and the bride was so moved!

Ask the Community - Nob Hill Foods

So in your Capitola store, masks aren't required anymore right? So why don't you allow customers to bring in their own reusable bags instead of charging them .25 per bag?

Thank you for sharing your concerns! We would like you to know that we are following CDC guidelines. Our bag policy will remain the same until further notice.

During our trip we ended up getting the cove and boardwalk sandwich. For about and hour because you wanted to do some other things around the Town period and doing so by the time we got to the beach and wanted to food the Brad was a little bits off and the flavors felt a little muted. Again not because the quality was bad, it was more because the heat from the sandwiches just took away from the overall quality as it was sitting waiting to be eaten. The thing that I liked a lot about the food was that it was definitely a full sandwich. We were able to split those two between myself and my husband and we definitely were very full. Almost so full that we were not able to eat the banana pudding that we had bought. But we mustered the courage and ended up having a little bit of room to finish it off. Again same suggestion eat it sooner rather than later still good but because it got warm it didn't have that overall effect of banana pudding that I wanted. Regarding the space itself, it is definitely very popular and it's nice because there is a good amount of seating inside especially when it's a little bit warmer and if you do want to enjoy the sun you can sit outside on the little bar style setting that is in front of the restaurant. I would definitely come back to this place and make sure that the next time I ordered my food I eat it there at the restaurant versus waiting a bit longer to try to find that perfect picture by the beach.

I think you can make the wrong choice on your 1st/2nd/3rd visit depending on your taste, but I also think you should come back and you'll absolutely find something that 100% tickles your pickle. I've tried most of their hot sandwiches: - Noni's Pesto Chicken: this is one of my favorite sandwiches of all time. It's not very complex but for some reason the combination of flavors just is *chefs kiss*. 5* for this alone, don't fight me - Surf City Philly: can be surprisingly spicy, heavy but SO good. This is my third favorite. - Chicken Cowabunga: not that great, would skip, but I also have a whole website on fried chicken sandwich rankings so I'm picky - Vulcan Mind Melt: sounds so good on paper but it's just heavy. I would skip - Crispy Cod Wrap: I've had a bite or two of this and I thought it was pretty good but not that memorable - Pork Belly Banh Mi: this was good, and I don't usually like pork belly - Chipotle Chicken Club: also kinda heavy but I really enjoyed this! This is my second favorite. - Cubano: not particularly memorable Not a sandwich but Beer Barnacles: ugh I enjoyed this more often than I should have, sorry not sorry. 5*

We ordered the turkey sandwich, which had very fresh ingredients, clam chowder: warm and stands out among local competition Cheese bread, bagel and breakfast bagel: warm, soft and crispy. As far as the service goes, if you want small talk you'll get small talk, if not then the owner gets straight to work making the food and delivers it very fast, as well as managing many other orders. I don't visit this location enough, and the owner is also very active in the community. If you are ever in the village and looking for a quick, affordable, and delicious bite this is the spot to go to.

I get that it's beach time and things move at a different pace, but being a little nicer to customers and visitors would make a big difference. Hopefully next time the service will be as good as the food. EDITED - Saturday, June 20, 2026 I'm updating my review after reading the owner's response. First, I want to clarify that the response appears to be a copy-and-paste message aimed at people leaving negative reviews. If you had actually read my original review, you would have noticed that I never complained about the food, the wait time, prices, staffing, or anything related to the quality of the business itself. In fact, I enjoyed the food and had no issue waiting. I visited on a Thursday, and the café wasn't packed. The owner was clearly working hard, and I respect that. However, when I walked in and said hello, I was completely ignored. There was no greeting, no acknowledgment, and no sense that my business was appreciated. That was the only reason I left a 3-star review in the first place. The response talks about staffing shortages, minimum wage, food costs, and the challenges of running a small business. I understand all of that. Running a business is difficult. But those challenges don't really address the point I was making. A simple "Hi," "Welcome," or even a quick smile costs nothing and goes a long way. I also don't think customers should be made to feel responsible for business challenges such as labor costs or rent. Those are realities of ownership that every business owner has to navigate. That said, after thinking about it, I'm changing my review from 3 stars to 5 stars because the food was genuinely good, and I do support small businesses. My hope is simply that future customers are greeted with a little more warmth and appreciation when they walk through the door. One final thought: when someone leaves a critical review, it may be worth responding directly to their experience rather than posting a generic response. Sometimes there's valuable feedback hidden inside reviews that aren't really about the food at all. I wish you and your business success, and I genuinely hope you continue serving great food for years to come.
