For one, it's clean, and for two, it's well staffed and well managed. The intake manager and business manager are both kind and professional, and made the experience of having a loved one in this situation just a little easier. It made visiting a fairly pleasant experience. Overall, the caregivers and care managers also were pleasant, patient and compassionate. During the year I regularly visited a family member here, I never saw a patient mistreated or miserable. Residents are allowed to bring their personal furniture and belongings and to decorate their rooms as they wish, so it has a homier feel. They encourage family member involvement. The atmosphere is one of caring and respect. I can't comment personally on the food, but several residents said it was good. I didn't see much staff turnover. These are all good signs, as far as I'm concerned. The only thing I would change is for the place to offer more interesting upbeat activities/entertainment, and to make a concerted effort to bring more residents to watch or participate. Some music over the intercom system would be nice, too. Especially in the dining and sitting rooms.

First, the people there are great, 99% of staff and nurses were very helpful and nice. But, the administration is awful. It's a business, remember above everything they care about your money. Intake is a glorified sales line, I was told I'd stay for 5 days, and would be charged a certain amount of money - great, I accepted and attended. Even asked - is there any scenario in which other services would be required that would cost additional money? I'm seeing a lot of reviews of people saying they got overcharged... "Nope! You won't need anything like that, sometimes people get labs done (bloodwork, etc) - you definitely won't need that. You'll pay X amount of $, and that's it" First day, staff is expecting me to provide bloodwork. I dont have my phone, I have no idea how much this will cost. Zero communication between staff and intake. Intake team doesn't communicate with staff at all. Additionally, the meals are disgusting. Canned, cold, mass produced prison food. On the 5th day, I'm expecting to leave to get back to work, but they then explain that I'm "required" to stay for 6 days - why wasn't this told to me at intake? I had to stay until midnight for my ride to pick me up, which just felt rediculous. On top of that, 4 months later, I was charged an additional $600 for no apparent reason, no communication. Called the billing department, no one picks up. I received a completely incomprehensible voicemail that did nothing to explain the charges, discuss next steps, or honestly even communicate an intelligible statement. Literally, could not understand a single sentiment of that voicemail. Awesome!

The facility provides comprehensive and care and treatment plans for its residents. They have full-time In-House therapy and specialized skilled nursing.

When we arrived, Mama Kimele came out and these incredible women helped get me inside. They are kind, loving, knowledgeable and will take care of all of your needs while you're there. They make you feel like you are a part of their family the moment you arrive. They will also teach you everything you need to know about your post operative care and make sure you receive your medications right on time, even if that is in the middle of the night. When you arrive, you will be helped into your room, made comfortable, given your own call button, a basket full of snacks, any drink you can think of as well as a large, insulated cup of ice water that they keep full to make sure you stay properly hydrated. There are televisions in each room and the property has a beautiful backyard where you can sit and enjoy watching the local wildlife while getting some fresh air. The facility is beautiful and has everything you need to heal comfortably. One of my favorite amenities was the reclining chair with lift assist to help you stand up. It made getting up after my surgery pain free and it reclines enough for a good nights sleep. If you are able to sleep lying down, you will enjoy a comfortable bed with plenty of pillows and blankets to keep you warm. Now let me tell you about the food! Mama Kimele prepares delicious food from scratch each day. I cannot stop thinking about the stew I was served while I was there. There is nothing like a home cooked meal while you're body is trying to heal. Everything they served was healthy and delicious! I highly recommend Premier Recovery Aftercare! You could maybe benefit if you happen to be paired with one of the tiny percentage of therapists who have any discernible degree of competence (they do exist--my Friday group therapist was a blessing), but you'll be paying an absurd amount for treatment compared to others in the area, and their billing department will make you want to bash your head through a window. Don't trust the estimate they give you/double check with your insurance yourself before committing. if you have bipolar disorder--run. Literally no one I spoke to had any real understanding of the diagnosis and I was even given treatment recommendations that are known to cause mania. One of my individual therapy sessions consisted of the therapist ranting about how confused she was that I wasn't improving (which made me feel so great and hopeful!) My group therapist repeatedly taught concepts inaccurately. She also snapped at me for not participating in an activity that had caused me to go into a panicked/dissassociative state. Spoiler alert: no one checked in to see if I was ok or gave me any support to actually complete an activity that I found to be incredibly difficult emotionally. Just one of soooo many missed opportunities to actually work through problems. Process groups were consistently utter chaos, and when I brought up my concerns about it, I was asked why *I* hadn't spoken up and redirected the conversation. I showed up to Pathlight to be treated, not to facilitate my and my group's treatment. Every concern I had was met with "you need to advocate for yourself better," then when I did speak up, I was made to look like a crazy irate maniac. You'll have to ask for things multiple times to (possibly) get them. Asked my individual therapist for a referral 3 times before just giving up. At the end of my horrendous time there, I had a meeting with the clinical manager to address some issues. I was told I'd get to talk to my individual therapist about the issues the next day and my group therapist the next week. Never got pulled by my individual therapist the next day, and my email to the clinical manager asking if she had spoken to them never got a response. The only insightful conversation I had with my therapist was about how to define happiness/fulfillment while depressed, and I was promised an activity that explored that idea. I was later handed a printout of a children's picture book about a little girl searching for happiness and learning it was inside of her all along. I mean, come on. In my last session, my therapist even said "you can't really learn and use new skills if you're in the state you're in" -- as if I hadn't just spent 2 months of my life and thousands of dollars to learn how to use coping skills even when I'm not well. She didn't have a response when I asked her why I was in the treatment program if that's the case. It was just let down after let down, and I was always to blame. I would never go back, and never would've shown up in the first place if they had accurately estimated my total bill. So many more problems I could bring up, but all in all I was utterly disappointed by the program and had to deal with more issues than I've ever experienced in a treatment setting. Complete negligence & incompetence all around.

12/30/2021- My father was transferred here after contracting covid 19 to quarantine. He arrived on…read morea Thursday afternoon. It wasn't until 18 hours later that I was able to get in touch with him. The staff never gave him his personal cell phone, nor did they answer their phones at the facility. Trying to get in touch with anyone there was impossible after MANY MANY attempts. When I did talk to someone I was told "everyone was off due to the holiday". It wasn't until receiving a text the following Monday 1/3/2022 asking to sign admission paperwork for the transfer, I did actually speak to someone for longer than 1 minute. At that time I asked for a update and strongly voice my frustrations. My reply in text was enough to actually receive a phone call from someone. At that time is where I voiced my concerns about the lack of administration, communication, and it being impossible to reach anyone there. Heaven forbid there be an emergency on my end, or on his. I'm almost certain I wouldn't be able to get through, or even receive a call if something happened to him. I will say after voicing my concerns things got slightly better. But that was still after multiple attempts. Today my dad returned back to his initial facility. Upon his arrival the nurses, and wound care did a full evaluation, and documentation on my dad. He has bruising all over both arms (possibly due to blood work, yet he has a picc line), a fungal infection under his arm pits, and groin area, they noticed what looked to be bed sores on his back, bottom, and heels of his feet from not transitioning him, or offloading his weight during his stay. He literally was in bed and the same position for 10 days straight from the sounds of the report I got this evening 1/10/2022. The wound care he was receiving from an amputation was larger upon his return, than it was when he left only ten days earlier. Due to being a covid patient, I was unable to visit, and relied on him answering his phone to get any sort of updates. If your loved one doesn't have a cell phone, do NOT plan on any communication! Make sure it's plugged in and kept charging. AT ALL TIMES! PLEASE if you send a family member here, make sure to be there as much as you possibly can be!!! I'm sure if something did happen you'd never hear about it from anyone. From what I've experienced these last 10 days I wouldn't recommend having anyone stay at Legend Oaks North Austin. Maybe things would have been different if I was able to be there daily. But given him being covid positive no one was able to enter the 300 hall staff included, nor send me to the nurses station phone "because they don't have one in that hall". Keep researching!!!

The loving atmosphere and acceptance by all make this an environment as close to your own home as is possible when a senior needs help. It truly was a family for Mom. The staff is amazing, with the daily care, activities, and a true nurturing attitude, they filled Mom's days with love. It was a great relief for me, knowing she was being well taken care of, better than I could have done, and that she was safe and happy. I would not hesitate to have another family member live here.
