I'm surprised to find two mediocre ratings for Gracie's on Yelp. I work in Manhattan but our office has a headquarters not far from Gracie's and this is the go-to spot for people visiting the PA office. In fact, my boss now plans his trips according to Gracie's Wed-Sun schedule. I had my first Gracie's experience last week and I was not disappointed. The wine and food menu is extensive and the food is delicious. I shared the bacon wrapped shrimp (huge shrimp right off the grill- and you could taste it!) and the seafood crepes (delicious). I enjoyed the crepes and the cream sauce so much that I decided to order the crab and shrimp pasta dish modeled after the appetizer. It was fantastic. I'm told the Jamaican crab bisque, filet mignon, and duck are also delicious. My "spliff" dessert was amazing! (Apparently Gracie is a huge fan of Jamaican culture.) It was a fried tortilla oozing with melted chocolate over ice cream. Without a doubt, I will order that any time I return. More and more in life I am finding that you get what you pay for, Gracie's being the perfect example. read more

LOVE Gracies. It's my favorite place to chill and dine and listen to great music. The food is always divine and fun. The Epicurean Lamb Chops small plate is a favorite and the Heirloom Tomato app I wait for all year! Great meal and experience from beginning to end! Had the softshell crab on top of champagne pasta which was truly phenomenal. The sauce melted in your mouth and i truly wanted more pasta. Overpriced for the quality you get. The brussel sprouts are good, but not $15 good. Make sure you properly hydrate before going. Our waitress refilled our iced teas 2 times for a total of 6 iced teas. Lipton iced tea, I should mention. They charged us $18 for 2 refills of iced tea. LIPTON tea, nothing fancy. Gracie's is exceptional. I could stop there because one sentence sums up the quality of food you are going to experience there. It is delightful. Yes the portions are not huge but my goodness that's a good thing one thing American can work on is the ridiculous portions it serves. Gracie's uses exception ingredients and everything is very fresh you can tell time and time again the menu is thoughtful and really vested in impressing your pallet with yummy hints of truffles or the most fresh veggies straight from her garden. A group of friends and I had reservations to celebrate a friend's birthday. The day of our reservation, our guest of honor fell from a ladder and broke vertebrae in her back. Gracie informed the person that had made the reservation for our party that we could not cancel or reschedule without being charged a fee. The rest of our group went to Gracie's so that our friend was not charged a fee for the table. We were no longer in the mood to celebrate, but planned on having drinks and appetizers. Apparently this was not enough $$ for her, even at her exorbitant prices, because Gracie came to our table and was probably the rudest that I've ever seen anyone behave in my life. She informed us that we should leave, that our friend's misfortune had no bearing on her business, that she could have filled our table (even though the entire restaurant was empty), and even had the nerve to ask which hospital our friend was sent to, because she felt we were lying. She actually told us we should leave multiple times and demanded we leave a $70 tip for the waitress, even though we received no service AND were told to leave because we weren't spending enough money. We did gladly tip the waitress because none of this was her fault and she appeared to be mortified at Gracie's behavior. I have NEVER seen such rude behavior. Had she just been understanding of what happened to our friend, we likely would have rescheduled and spent a great deal of money here. Please reconsider giving your business to this awful woman. read more

The only reason I'm giving this establishment one star is because the waitress was so nice! We actually went there for a meal after trying to cancel due to the birthday girl breaking her back today. I called Gracie and asked her if we could cancel. She explained to me that we could but with huffs she said she requires a 24 hour cancelation and she turned people away cause of our reservation. This policy by the way is not on her website saying cancelation must be 24 hours advance or your credit card will be charged. Or group did then go to the restaurant even though we did not want to due to the circumstances. We planned on just getting drinks and appetizers for a courtesy and informed the waitress of this and we asked her to speak to Gracie if we should stay at the table or free the table and go to the bar. Gracie then came out and was very rude! She told us that we could leave but needed to tip the waitress which we did cause she was very accommodating to us. Gracie herself asked us what hospital our friend was in so she could check. We didn't lie about this incident and why would we go if we did! We gladly left and paid the waitress for her time. I don't know how the food is cause we didn't taste it but I personally will never give my business to such a person and I suggest you do the same and stay away from this rude and ignorant owner of this restaurant. read more

Definitely overpriced for both food and drinks and service was slooooowwww. We had reservations so we were seated immediately upon arrival. The building itself and decor are cool and interesting. The staff were polite but not attentive until they realized we had been waiting for our appetizer for almost an hour, which by the was a cheese plate. The first food to reach our table was an hour and a half after we were seated. That offering was one small piece of bread with some crackers and ice cold butter. Our two entrees included my paella which was just okay. The asparagus had absolutely no taste, blah, blah, bland. My partner is a better cook but as this was his birthday dinner, I didn't feel quite right asking him to cook his own celebratory meal. Too bad I didn't. I would have saved a lot of money and had a much more satisfying meal. He ordered the duck which did have a good flavor but in his opinion not worth the price tag. The greens were a "muddled mess." We were offered 2 complimentary drinks for our long wait but that did not negate our disappointing experience. Almost 100% sure we won't be back again. read more

This was supposed to be a special occasion for my son's 51st birthday which I mentioned to them when I made the reservation. Needless to say our waiter said that so many people arrived at the same time and we had to wait 45 minutes to get a menu, but he was very happy to get our drink request and they arrived before the menus! Next we waited about 1 hour to get some bread - mentioned this many times. My daughter-in-law mentioned to me that her glass of red wine cost $16 which is outrageous. Finally our meal was served after 2 hours. My filet mignon of pork was delicious and tender, but it was accompanied by totally raw carrots and string beans that were not cooked? Other people at our table ordered the salmon which was very good and the vegetables that were with it. After looking at our watches we realized that we had been there for 3 hours and it was 10:00. Our waiter came by and asked if we wanted coffee and dessert, but we didn't want to make it a 4 hour event and declined for 2 reasons - the seats are very uncomfortable and the coffee and desserts would undoubtedly be over priced. My wife and I have been coming to Gracie's for many years, usually reserving this venue for the more important dinners. It really is more than just a restaurant. It truly is an experience and is very very different from a chain restaurant, or most other establishments. First the decor is eclectic. With the fireplaces (multiple) going and sometimes some really good and not too loud, live music, it's very relaxing and sets the mood for the meal that's to come. The food is excellent and a little different. Last night we had the Jamaican curry crab bisque and the mushroom cappuccino soup for an appetizer. I always get the Jamaican crab soup - it's wonderful, unlike anything I've ever tasted. The main course selections vary by season. But you can always get a steak (for those of us who are less adventurous). Last night I had the roasted chicken and brie. Again it was amazing with enough cheese and a fruity flavor to taste, but not get in the way of the chicken. My wife had the lamb with mashed potatoes and veggies, perfect comfort food for a cold February evening. The serving size was good, my wife not being able to finish her meal and taking the rest home. We also had dessert. My wife have her usual favorite, creme brulee. She says this is the best she has ever tasted. I had the "Bob Marley" a long rolled crispy pastry, filled with a hot chocolate fudge on top of vanilla ice cream. It looks like something you'd expect Bob Marley to be smoking, but is very rich tasting with that deep chocolate hot fudge. The service is always excellent, but it does take a bit of time to get your food, probably because it's being made just for you. It's not Applebees. Go there with someone you enjoy and can have a conversation with. Enjoy the wine and drinks in anticipation of the meal. Take in the experience and relax. It's well worth it! read more

I went as a guest of friends of mine who have been really talking up Gracie's for years. I have been to some of the best restaurants in the world (in both US and Europe) and had high expectations based on their comments. I started off with the Crab Bisque soup, which was wonderful. But than the wait started. We had to wait for another hour before our meals came and we were very disappointed with the quality and portion sizes, given that the entries were very expenses. I had Rack of Lamb, which I wanted med-rare. Unfortuantely it was well done and tough. Another guest had 8 oz lobster tail and it was overcooked and tough. If you are thinking about going here save your money. There are lots of better places out there that are easier to get to where you leave satisfied and not so poor. read more

Went there one night for a dinner with the husband. We are vegetarian and they had a nice selection. We had ice tea with lemonade and no alcohol in them. which cost us $21.00 for 2 cups all together. We sat for a couple of hours. Had dessert which was awesome. We apparently went on a night that they had a band booked and we were charged for a cover even though we were there before the band even showed up. But when we saw the bill almost $200.00 we were floored. The service was great. Great quiet area to spend time for a date night if you have that kind of money to spend. This will be a place we go to once in a long blue moon. Very pricey. read more

I disagree with the previous posts regarding the food portions. A restaurant too often is judged by how much is on the plate instead of, and most importantly, by the quality of the food. When a dish is rich in flavor, it should be proportioned appropriately and eaten slowly which is how we appreciate each delectable bite. Gracie's does a good job with this. I don't think Gracie's is trying attract the masses by lowering its prices. This is precisely what inferior restaurants end up doing - lower prices, big portions and lousy food. We had reservations for two on News Year Eve, 2014 for a fixed menu, $88/person, 20% gratuity. We arrived and were seated, but received nothing for 1/2 hour except a drink and the appetizer did not arrive for an hour. The manager had to go find the appetizer. The kitchen was 1 to 2 hours behind. I had asked the bus boy for additional bread, but he thought they had run out. I ask him to check but he never responded. I asked again and he informed me they ran out. I then asked the waitress and she found some. I was then informed they ran out of the entree we both ordered and we needed to reordered. The entree arrived with badly burned vegetables. I told the waitress and she said 'she would inform the cook'. However, I received no feedback or recourse from the waitress or the cook for the burned vegetables. However, the other food items were good. Because of all the ongoing problems the 3 courses took over 3 1/2 hours. Since this event was probably all covered by defined reservations, how does an established restaurant plan a New Years Eve event without sufficient kitchen and wait staff and with a limited fixed menu run out of several food items. Based on how my concerns or issues were addressed, I believe the only issue of importance to the restaurant was getting $88/ person. We were disappointed on so many levels, we will not go back. read more

YES, without a doubt, Gracie's is a unique countryside eclectic restaurant where the owner takes a lot of pride in her menu offerings, use of fresh local ingredients and serving great well-prepared gourmet meals. Again, the atmosphere is very eclectic and interesting for dining. My wife and I have dined at Gracie's 4-times in the past 8 years before heading there a 5th time for our Valentines Day evening dinner on Sat (2-13-16) where a 4-course (Appetizer-Salad-Entree-Desert) Prix-Fixed menu was being served. We called 6-weeks in advance for our reservation and requested a table in a spot where we had enjoyed eating on previous occasions at the restuarant. Both the food and drinks at Gracie's are expensive and reflect what you would expect to pay at a top major city restaurant; however, that being said -- our food preparation and taste experiences at Gracie's have always been excellent. The drinks and drink menu are what you can expect at any well established restuarant. Our Valentine's Day dinner was a disappointment. First, the drink menu is way overpriced for this restaurant and the area. The drink menu features fairly standard cocktails that range in price from $13.50 to $19.50 -- I mean really Gracie -- what are you thinking here??? Those are the kind of prices you expect to pay at the Four Season's Hotel in most major cities -- not in Pine Forge PA; and I travel all over the world for my job and have eaten in many fine dining establishments where those type of prices do not typically exist -- ridiculously overpriced! Second, when we made our reservation, obviously someone forget to mark down our previously confirmed seating location request as we were not seated in the area we had requested. We were seated at a table directly next to a window where the cold winter air was felt thru a continuous draft. Third, and absolutely the most aggravating is... after we were seated -- it took almost 15-minutes for our waitress to initially arrive at our table and get our dining underway. After our waitress arrived -- it took another 15-minutes to get bread delivered to our table and I had to ask for it! Just terrible for a dining at a restaurant we really had enjoyed eating at in the past. Fourth, we were seated at our table at 7:25pm (our reservation was for 7:30pm) and dinner ended at 10:25pm. During that time -- it took 30-minutes to get our appetizers served -- another 25-minutes to get our salad served -- then the outrageous part -- almost 50-minutes to get our entree served. I can't speak for how disappointed this type of service left us -- we couldn't wait to leave. And to finish it all off -- while the desert course was served -- our waitress did not even ask us if we wnted coffee or some type of drink to finish our desert with. Ok, all that being said above and to ber very fair -- the food -- when it was delivered -- was very, very good as it has always been. However, the utter lack of service overshadowed the great taste of the food and made our Valentine's Day evening out a horrible unenjoyable dining experience. Gracie -- you have to get much better as there are far too many "similar" eclectic dining experience restuarants available these days to select from that do not offer overpriced drinks and terrible wait-staff service. And, if you were overwhelmed in the kitchen due to the number of guest orders -- you have to address that as well. As far as returning to Gracie's again for dinner -- we will have to deliberate whether or not we will consider that as a dining option in the future. I will not pay Gracie's food prices (and certainly not the cocktail prices) for another dining experience such as this one. read more
