Avenue 42 has an incredibly talented team! They did an amazing job with my bridal party, and I…read moreloved that they took the time to understand everyone's individual preferences and create a range of different looks. Everyone was so happy with their hair and makeup! Becky was especially amazing. She went above and beyond with my bridal hair and makeup, bringing my vision to life even better than I imagined. She was also so warm and lovely to be around, which made getting ready that morning so much fun. My only negative experience was with Diane, the booking manager, who was unfortunately rude and unpleasant to communicate with throughout the planning process. Aside from that, I had a wonderful experience with Avenue 42 and would absolutely recommend their artists, especially Becky!

Cancer Patient Refused $500 Refund - Poorly Done Microblading…read more I am a recently diagnosed cancer patient that was seeking to get my eyebrows microbladed. I went to Maria @mariialash for microblading/"nano brows". Her price for this service is $500. I wanted to get this done prior to starting chemo so I could still have natural-looking brows during treatment. Unfortunately, 100% of the pigment that Maria put on my eyebrows fell out, despite following her care instructions. I informed her of this and sent a photo of my plain brows, stating that I am starting treatment any minute and will be unable to do anything that may compromise my immune system such as getting a tattoo, for at least the next year. At this time I requested a refund. She has refused to disperse a refund stating that her disclaimers her clients sign state this could happen. A flimsy "disclaimer" does not excuse a business from providing good service and exercising good judgement. I do not recommend trusting Maria with your money nor your brows.

I'm reposting this review I left on WeddingWire…read more.. Victoria was my hair and makeup artist for my 10/21/23 wedding. I had a hard time finding an artist who was in my budget especially because I was just getting my hair and makeup done, none of my bridesmaids or family, and many artists have really high minimums. I'm thankful for Victoria because she could come to my hotel and get me ready and I looked absolutely amazing on my wedding day - my dream look was really achieved. She took my feedback and suggestions really well. She was always very sweet and kind. However, I had some problems leading up to the day that meant I can't leave a 5 star review... I had some communication problems because my emails would sometimes bounce back and my calls go to a phone no longer in service - one time I even had to reach out to her on Facebook to get in touch with her (after I had paid). I booked my trial with her and drove from where I live in DC down to Richmond (even staying in a hotel overnight) and she wasn't there. I was truly shocked. She was very apologetic and came up to meet me in my apartment in DC for my trial instead, but it left a pretty bad impression and made me very anxious for my wedding day. I'm really glad I did the trial because there were some things I wanted to fix for the wedding day (all of which she achieved, except for having the fake eyelashes be a bit too long so they butted up against my glasses, which I pointed out for the trial but was still a problem on the wedding day. I've had my makeup done for other weddings and the fake eyelashes weren't a problem then, so I know shorter ones exist...) Thankfully, she was better at communicating over text after that and showed up on time for my wedding day and everything worked out really well, so all's well that ends well, but there were some bumps in the road.

Through it all, she was professional and organized and really pleasant to be around. She has an amazing attitude and a disarming personality, which is great because I tend to be awkward :) Her studio is so cute, and is in a great location in the fan. I felt really relaxed while getting my makeup done in the studio. When she came out to meet me at my wedding venue, she was ready to go and all setup by the time I got there. She breezed through makeup for the girls and had my makeup done on time, as promised. I felt amazingly beautiful both times she did my makeup, but especially so on my wedding day. The airbrush foundation that she uses really does last 8 hours. I was still getting compliments on my makeup by the end of the night, and it was a loooong day! I had never had my makeup done professionally before planning my wedding, but Candance has made me a believer!

Candance and Angel were wonderful!!!…read more I had the two of them come and do hair and makeup for me and my three bridesmaids and they were punctual, professional, efficient and so much fun! It only took them 2.5 hours to do hair and makeup for all 4 of us and they seemed so at ease. They made the morning of my wedding so wonderful and the final product was fantastic! I loved that they asked questions of each bridesmaid- what they envisioned, if they wanted fake lashes, etc. They really listened and we all were really happy with the final product. Candance was also very flexible with me- I was planning my wedding from 3 hours away so Candance and I communicated via phone and email. She also only requested a 50% deposit on the services at the time of booking. This was a nice concession I wasn't finding with other services. I highly, highly recommend Candance and Blush n Bronze for at-home hair and makeup- she was a pleasure to work with! Thanks, Candance!
