Good morning Facebook family This is prom season where it should be a celebration that my daughter's high school years are coming to an end and is becoming an adult. Well looking for the perfect outfit for the occasion was stressful enough, but when you have a BLACK OWNED company that is unprofessional and rude is mind blowing. This man by the name of Eric Knowles Jr. works at Gq Gentlemen Clothing disappointed me. I was recommended to go to him because he had done work for my family. Well that went north, south, east and west. Day 1 Eric was really nice and giving us ideas and suggestions, and day 2 we went for measurements and told him how we wanted the suit. Also paid in full on the amount of $950.00, which was the end of February and sent the photos we wanted a few days later. April gets here still no communication from Eric so I reached out by calling 708-600-9704, no answer. I texted and someone answered by asking who was the order for. I was texted hours later that they had to coordinate with the tailor, but they'll reach out by end of week. The week ends and a new week starts, but still NO COMMUNICATION. I call, no answer so I text. They respond and I tell them no one contacted me yet and that I'm disappointed that as a business they can't communicate with their customers. A little before me reaching out this last time Eric sent my brother's girlfriend a picture of the jacket, but not the person who paid for it or the one who he was in communication with from day 1. So he finally tells me via text that the suit is ready for a fitting and sent me a location (coordinates)with no name of the place, but was at/or near River Oaks Mall. The next day I'm at training for work and haven't really had the chance to be on my phone, but get a long text message from him. At this point I'm confused because that's the message I sent the day before. And when I say I was disgusted I really mean that. Because for you to be a business and you to respond like that when I'm the customer. All customers aren't right, but if you saw a message I sent already what was the need for the long message.. I decided to call because that was very unprofessional. So I have my daughter in the car and she hears the whole conversation. He kept cutting me off during the conversation. Mind you my voice was not raised and not being disrespectful. I pointed out the unprofessionalism and how I'm very disappointed. At one point you can tell he put me on mute as if he wasn't listening. I finally say ok I'm not going back and forth with you can you just tell me where I'm going for this fitting. He tells me and I repeated it 2xs. He said yes and that he'll send me the name and address. Never sent me anything. So I called my brother and he was able to figure it out. We get to the location which was "Pappys" in River Oaks Mall. I get the suit and immediately saw issues with it. I took pictures of the issues and sent it to him. The next morning I get another long message stating that he could've fixed the issues but I wouldn't be satisfied so he said, "I'm refunding your money and keeping the suit!" I was in disbelief because you said you could fix the issues, but canceled 3 weeks before prom. So now I'm out of a suit that was customize with pictures of my sister and grandmother in the inside of the jacket. Crazy thing is my partner I worked with that day see how upset and asked who I went with. I told him the location and he said, "Did you deal with a guy named Eric? I tell him yeah. My partners exact words, " Buddy was unprofessional and we decided to go elsewhere." After him saying that I looked up his business reviews and he got 1 star and some people posted that he did the same thing to them, unprofessional and no communication. So now we're scrambling to look for a suit and someone to alter it before prom. Don't do business with Eric Knowles Jr. or Gq Gentlemen Clothing on 7149 S State St. in Chicago, IL. UPDATE: They have never reached out to settle this issue. We are now forced to handle this matter legally as we have again called this week they won't give us a refund nor do they have our suit. We have filed a complaint with the city and with BBB because this business needs to be shut down or other people need to run it. DO NOT, and 1 really mean it DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE THIEVES. THIEVES, SCAMMERS, TRASH. We really wanted to like them. My husband, who is deployed, purchased a suit for his bday party a few weeks ago. Because he hadn't arrived home for leave, we used the same size as the other suit we purchased from them, Unfortunately, it didn't work out. We came to return it, ask for store credit, but they acted as if they couldn't honor that. But they reluctantly did. This time my husband got fitted. They asked when we would need the suit. We told them the date, they assured us multiple times it would be ready as we explained that my husband was only on leave for a short time. The day comes, THERE IS NO SUIT. In fact, they don't even know what suit it is and if it has been altered yet. They tell us it'l be ready on Monday and that they will contact us. Monday comes, nothing. Tuesday, not a peep, Wednesday I go to pick up the suit as now my husband is gone and THERE IS NO SUIT! I asked to speak to the owner and let me tell you, ldon't know what goes on behind closed doors but he got this employee shook. Long story short-er, 1 requested to speak to the owner several times, but NO ONE can ever contact this man. I have requested several times that he call me and it's just crickets I go one more time before 1 leave town and the employee tells me to contact him on Instagram! Like what?! Well, I did, crickets. My husband did and he tells my husband he "remembers this order". Have not heard back from them. I have requested a refund multiple times but they said they cannot do that. But they also DID NOT provide us with a suit. So please avoid at all costs because we are out of $450 and a suit. BAD BUSINESS. They don't have a tracking system, so they never know what is going on. I've bought several suits from GQ Gentlemen & the price was right & the quality & detail was topnotch. They took care of my grandson for his prom & he was impressed & he made an impression at the prom. I love this place. OH!! The men that work there pray alot. read more

Posted a couple of months ago about a relative who I referred to GQ Gentlemen. If it's possible for service to go from bad to worst, this is it!!!! The alterations were all wrong, appointments scheduled and then forgotten about, no form of communication. AT ALL!!!! My relative gave them another chance was advised the suit would be ready September 1st. Today is the 17th of October and my relative never received a phone call, text email NOTHING!!!! I will never ever refer anyone to this establishment again. Worst service, worst customer service just the absolute worst. Honestly if I could rate no stars I would and that's too much!!!! read more

We clearly should have read the reviews before doing business with them. My fiancé and his groomsmen were treated with blatant disregard and negligence! We reached out to E. Knowles who is the owner. He and my fiancé had a good conversation about what my fiancé wanted and he said it wouldn't be a problem. He then offered to do the groomsmen outfits as well for a slightly discounted price. First of all.. the communication from these people is garbage!!! They will not follow up when promised nor are they available half the time! They are disorganized and clearly not in the business of prioritizing customers! Our wedding is in 2 weeks and today they told my fiancé that they had no knowledge of where his tux is. That they said would be ready to pick up today. The groomsmen had to take a completely different route and use another vendor due to their lack of professionalism. We went to GQ Gentlemen the second week of January 2020 for a custom fitted suit to be made and received by July 1, 2020. Your deposit is half of the total price which was over $900.00. Had to call the store repeatedly to get an appointment for a fitting. Finally getting an appointment in June. The jacket was too small. The pants were too short stopping below the calf and were narrow like leggings. You rarely see the owner in the store. They DO NOT return phone calls or respond to text messages. The measurements are sent out somewhere else for the suit to be made. Again I went to GQ Gentleman for a second fitting suit still was NOT custom made or fitted.This time pants too tight and short. No calls to inform us when suit was ready. On 10/17/2020 went to GQ Gentlemen requesting a refund. Owner not there. We're told the owner will call us. Probably NOT! Poor customer service. My experience here did not go well nor did I expect to not have a suit ready for a wedding. I went in six weeks prior to get a custom suit made. Oscar was great on getting my measurements and helping me out but after that, everything went down hill. I had called a week and half before the wedding to see when I would receive the suit since I hadn't heard from anyone. I spoke with a gentleman named Clarence. Very nice man! He said it was coming in Monday. I decided to call Saturday, few days before just to confirm. The person who answered the phone took my name and number and said I would get a phone call within 30 minutes. Never did I get a phone call and hours had passed. I ended up driving out to the store once I got out of work. I was told I was good for Monday. Monday I called by noon and no suit. They tell me to call back at 4pm, still no suit!!! (Three days before the wedding). That moment I was told they're going to track the suit. This entire time I thought the suit was made here. I didn't know it was coming from another state. Once I found that out I started to worry that my suit would not come on time. I ended up having to look around for a back up just in case. (In which I'm glad I did). It's definitely not fun when you only had a few hours to find something and still need time to get it tailored. Clarence said he would make sure someone calls me on Tuesday (the next day), since he was going to be off. I waited the whole day for a phone call and nothing! My cousins fiancés friend was actually going to pick up his suit that day and ask about my suit. They told him my suit was going to come in Wednesday now. I was really hoping this time it was true that my suit would come in, but come to find out my suit was NEVER MADE!!!!!! My cousin had reached out to Eric in a message letting him know what was going on with my suit. She gets a reply back the day before the wedding. Turns out the major issue was getting fabrics/supplies shipped to them for their garments. This whole time they were waiting for a shipment for my suit. So in reality my suit hadn't even been started. Why tell someone they are going to get their suit on such and such day??? Then never get it at all. He then suggested it was best to check other options. (Which was a little too late since the wedding was the next day). No one tried to communicate with me to give me a heads up. Had I known sooner it could have saved me so much time to simply go somewhere else. Three attempts in reaching out and no one got back to me. This is unacceptable and was so frustrating. I don't think I could go back and give another chance after what I had to go through. The only time I actually got a phone call was when they told me I didn't have to go to the store to get my refund back. That they would just do it over the phone. Felt Iike I was lied to just to make a sale off of. I was given the run around. This was such a disappointment and not what I expected at all.
