On top of this, the Merienda team have put a few extra precautions in place, all without impacting the dining experience! When we arrived at the restaurant we were encouraged to sanitize our hands, we had our temperature checked and we were asked to keep our face masks on whilst moving through the restaurant. Whether you're looking for a light meal or a full dining experience, the menu is served Mediterranean style with small plates based around 5 different sections; Merienda Staples, Fields and Gardens, Farms and Pastures, Rivers and Seas, and Sweetness. What it is, though, is an unpretentious, family-run local cafe, selling simple, home-made food. They put a Mediterranean twist on things, but that's OK because they do it well. I would recommend that if they are not confident in what a risotto is or not confident in preparing one, they should not have put it on the menu. Was a real shame. My steak was mediocre. It looked nice on the plate, but the steak itself was full of fat, the potatoes were pretty solid and the ragu thing it came with was very bitter and didnt quite ,match the meat. I also ended up quite ill during the night and the next day :( I would like to say though, that the presentation is beautiful, the food looked stunning, and the restaurant has a lovely interior and immaculate bathrooms. All of our desserts were lovely and again looked really nice. The food was the let down overall. I doubt I will return.
