Unlike the previous reviewers, I've never had the pleasure of eating in Marmaris whilst drunk as it never seems to be open at that time. I have, however, eaten in it with my mates late one night whilst sober and, as the three-star caption suggests, it was A-OK. The place specialises in kebabs and always has multiple, fat-soaked doner and chicken kebabs spinning round behind the counter. I had a doner with salad and chili sauce which cost about £4. This was actually pretty pricey considering how bad and dry it tasted and how long it took to arrive. My mate ordered a pepperoni pizza and spent a few mintues mopping up all the grease on top of it with napkins before he tucked in. The service is nice enough and there's plenty of seating which is good because, trust me, you'll have to wait. Marmaris isn't top of my list for kebab houses, especially when there is far superior competition in the area.

There are so many kebab shops in this area of Edinburgh, it really suprises me that this place is always doing business. The food is greasy, takes forever to get, expensive for what it is and lacks so much flavour that even the chilli sauce on the kebabs doesnt really do much for the taste buds. Why two stars and not one then? Well, it would have to be for the fact that this place has a sitting area - and after a heavy night of drinking, when bed isnt the best idea yet, its nice to sit somehwere to eat your nasty kebab. With so many other places like this on Nicholson Street, I would avoid this place unless I absolutly had to.

    The chili sauce is delicious!

PLEASE NOTE: This was ordered on their website but delivered through Deliveroo…read more When you come to the UK, you've got to have fish and chips, right? #Fish (#EatFishEdinburgh?; Eat FISH?; FISH? Fish Edinburgh?; I don't know what the name of this shop actually is, but I do know they say they're, "The Little Fish & Chip Shop with a BIG Personality") satisfies that craving perfectly. And their plant-based/vegan options are flavorful and filling! I had the Tofish + Vegan Tartar Sauce. (Their "tofish" is made from organic tofu layered with seaweed and marinated in garlic, chilli, and lemon before being deep fried.) Make it a supper by adding chips, choose your condiments (salt and vinegar, obviously), and you've got a proper feast (it comes in a shoe-sized cardboard box filled with two slabs of the tofish and tons of fluffy-like-mash-on-the-inside chips). I also tried the Vegan Black Pudding + Apple Chutney (it was two thick bricks of fried savory "meat"; and, the apple chutney was just lovely and autumnal tasting!). Want more options? Ooooh, they've got them: vegan scampi, vegan chippy sausage, vegan wings, vegan popcorn chicken with katsu mayo, vegan haggis fritters, vegan wellington... all your classic UK staples can be found here at the little fish and chip shop with a BIG personality (and an even bigger menu). Honestly, the menu is so inclusive that this is the best option for everyone!

There is usually a line outside this simple restaurant but possibly due to the light rain, the line was fairly short when I went. I only waited for like 5 minutes. The menu is simple as the roasted hog/pig is the only thing on the menu. You can choose a few things to customize the sandwich or even order it in a box. I ordered the Oink size (medium) on wheat bread and chose sage and onion for my topping and then the Homemade Mustard Mayo for the sauce. They make it in front of you and it is fresh and very tasty. Unfortunately when I went they were out of cracklings. They wrap it in foil and hand it to you. Pretty simple and efficient. I love that the outside of the building is painted pink like a pig (coincidence? Probably not). This is a good place to try for a quick, cheap and yummy sandwich. They do this one thing very well. Please open more of these!

The sammiches come on a big, soft, delicious roll. And they're filled with a generous portion of pulled pork. You get to customize them a little bit by selecting your bread, the size of the sammich, the stuffing (sage and onion or the homemade haggis), and a variety of spreads (apple, homemade mustard mayo, homemade chili cheese, and homemade chili jam). My wife got the sage & onion, and I opted for a haggis filling. We both very much enjoyed our rolls. They were very filling, and the staff was very friendly and helpful with suggestions. The haggis was unique, but we are very familiar with pulled pork sammiches back home. We really enjoyed our meal and would definitely recommend Oink to any hungry travelers in Edinburgh.

They are surprisingly good at the range they do. Me and my flatmates lived quite close to the Kasbah so we always just went there, but there is a delivery service, but my friends have told me that the wait can be quite long, especially on weekends. Their pizzas are not too greasy and you can tell the dough is of good quality. They also do a range of curries which taste as good as I have had in some pretty posh restaurants, but with a much more doest price tag.

This is one of my favourite of the lot (though, I don't like it as much as Delicious Italian, but that's because I'm addicted to gnocchi and artichokes). They serve everything from Indian food to Pizza. There's seating inside, but it's mostly occupied by friends of people who work there (from what I gathered, they all seemed to pretty friendly with each other, but I could be deluded). Their pizzas are kinda interesting. The one I like is one that has garlic butter and potato and red onion on it. I mainly like it for the novelty of having potato on pizza. It is kinda strange, right? But I also like getting pizza from here because they give you yummy garlic mayo with your pizza. What can I say, I like garlic. Definitely beats many of the takeaways in Marchmont, and it's pretty reasonably priced.
