I can only speak for their Lamb Shish wraps; it's the only thing I've had, but several times at that. among the best here.

Please note that this review comes from a Canadian, globe trotting, food lover!…read more What a quaint, casual little family run restaurant. We walked-in for dinner just after opening around 5:30. Three tables were already taken and reservations are encouraged but we were accommodated with the condition of leaving by a certain time. We had hummus, lentil soup and chicken shish! The hummus had the perfect texture with a garlicky, tangy finish. The soup and chicken were good with very slight Turkish seasoning and fresh. We were presented the red "hot" sauce that was equivalent to a mild blended picco de gallo. (Minus the cilantro and onion) Overall an average meal at a very reasonable price.

Now, I absolutely love borek, after having it for breakfast in Albania- so I had some of that- it was lovely. Also baklava is one of my favourite things, so that happened too- also great. Top marks for the hummus too. I kind of wished we'd got loads of small plates and picked and shared, but my companion here isn't a sharer (I know, why are we still friends? I don't know either), so I had moussaka- which always risks being sloppy, but it wasn't at all. Lovely staff to boot too.

It's true that every few months I see new faces (assistant waitresses mainly), but the Indian/Pakistani guys seem regular to me. It's considered a busy place, very spacious and the customers' origins vary. Now, about the take away food. I've tried all their Biryani dishes and they're mouth watering!! If you live close by, it's better to grab the food and go home to enjoy it, as the price difference is considerable!! For example lamb biryani and peshwari naan bread for £10! A friend of mine tried a spicy lamb dish and he loved it (he's a curry expert with his friends trying different restaurant almost per month for years in Edinburgh). Their paratha bread is also great - lighter in the stomach compared to the naan bread! It's easy to give them a call and order the food. What I found unexpected is that you will get text promotions on your mobile phone every two months or so and there's no obvious option to unsubscribe. I never opted in, so they seem to take it for granted when you make a phone order, I do believe though if you give them a call they should be able to remove you from the list. Their punctuality is not the best when ordering take away: they don't check always how busy is the kitchen, and they mention fixed time 20 mins or so, but if you show up earlier, your order might be ready. Oh, and they accept card payments for less than £10 without any extra charge. Looking forward to trying more dishes and the thrill of the grill!!!

I will be back time and time again! My biggest problem when I eat out is that I generally wanna eat everything!! Which is why I love tapas, mezze and sharing platters - you really can sample it all in Pera - we opted for the cold mezze to share and the mixed hot mezze and hoped we'd still have room to share the lamb kofte - but we really didn't - next time! Pera is a very relaxed place, it's interior is simple and understated, small in size so i'd recommend making a booking esp if you are more than 4 people. The kitchen looks tiny, and it's a little odd when you go to the bathroom - but what it lacks in polished style and grandeur it really does make up for in flavours! Plenty to choose from and loads of vegetarian options - feels like authentic Turkish cuisine - probably the best humous I have ever tasted! And such combinations of so many herbs and spices - sensational! Everything just bursting with flavour and colour - just wish I could've eaten more!! It is also open for breakfast and lunch and I noticed they have specials till 5pm (£8.95 for 2 courses) Will definitely be back - next time with elasticated trousers!!

What used to be called Hanam's is now Daika; same menu, same offerings, I don't know if they've changed ownership. We ordered: -- Mixed Grill (£24.95): three meat skewers that he said were middling. -- Halloumi Fries (£9.85): usually my favorite thing on a Mediterranean menu, but theirs was a bit tough, took chewy to the next level, & the pomegranate molasses did nothing to improve the flavor. -- Babaghanoush (£9.80): nice texture with the eggplant bits, properly smoky, & went well with the pita that stayed warm in its parchment bag. -- we also had lemonade in a bottle that was tart & refreshing. Rather than having lunch at Daika, we instead should have ordered a hookah; smoking shisha on their beautiful terrace with a view of Old Town around us would've been more enjoyable.

It was actually excellent and I would give that dish five stars. The Falafel was a bit dry. The grilled prawns were served with the shell on so they had to be peeled which was a bit messy. I usually don't expect to peel my prawns at the dinner table. The meats on the mixed grill were average. The minced meat kabob was the most flavorful. The others were a bit overcooked. Also, they may have been a bit understaffed but they generally did not clear any dishes when we were finished with them unless we asked them to.

The dishes are extremely reasonable in price, and midday is always quiet, if not completely deserted! Of course, dinnertime is busier if you're looking for more of an atmosphere. Finished off with their Baklava and a cup of steaming apple tea. Perfection. Give Yeni's a try, you will not be disappointed. Lauren x
