After hearing amazing things about Gotan and passing by them every time I got to the Monroe Center, I figured it was finally time I stop in for a lunch. Happy to report I found another amazing Hoboken cafe, and this one with amazing food as well! There is seriously so much to love: -The menu looked absolutely amazing. I was tempted by everything from shakshuka to the chicken shawarma. They have breakfast all day which is amazing because I am never not craving an omelette. -The space is gorgeous and MASSIVE. They have two floors, the bottom level all tables and the upper level more cozy with couches, arm chairs and art on the walls. -The team behind the counter was friendly and fast. I ordered and got my coffee right away, and they brought my food to my table not long after that. -Wifi! So kind of perfect for a spot to work, refuel with a coffee, get back to work, refuel with a delicious lunch. I got an iced coffee with oat milk and the chicken cauliflower salad, both incredible. I loved the curry yogurt dressing, the fresh arugula and cilantro and everything else that made this a great bowl. It might not look big, but it was filling. Sure, it is pricey, but it's Hoboken and a beautiful space and quality food. I will definitely be back.

This café has a striking look with its tall ceilings, glass walls, and converted industrial space. The plants throughout add a nice touch of warmth and soften up the big open room. It's definitely eye-catching, though I can't quite imagine how comfortable it would feel in the winter with all that glass and high ceilings. It seems to attract a crowd, often with families and kids that can make it a little noisy, but we lucked out with a more peaceful environment during our visit. When it's quiet, it's a beautiful spot to enjoy a coffee and soak in the design. Worth a visit if you like unique spaces and don't mind a bit of bustle. Food and drinks were great! Family time was had :)

Good clean food! Love the space. It's great for strollers. Workers are nice. I enjoy their golden chai latte. I've tried their lentil soup of the day, chicken sandwich and tuna sandwich. All good enough to get again. Workers are nice.

Disappointed that their employee at the register was unnecessarily rude but the coffee, open and inviting ambience, and selection of dishes makes it worthwhile. I didn't get to try their dishes, but I have my eye on a few breakfast items I want to try. The iced latte was great, but when I went to order it, mentioning I'd like an iced vanilla latte, the cashier practically rolled his eyes and with an attitude said "we don't have flavors." -- maybe a sign saying so would help and how is a customer supposed to know that? At the minimum, at least politely inform the customer rather than being sassy for no reason. My friends' orders looked good so I look forward to coming back, but hopefully nicer employees are working next time!

Really enjoy the breakfast/brunch here. I usually get the Gotan Breakfast, shakshuka, and the chia pudding. The cardamom bun isn't that good (and if you have ever had La Cabra's, you would understand). Portions are reasonable. Lots of space for dining in and delivery is packaged well.

Place is spacious and clean with natural lighting. Food tasted fresh/high quality. Staff provided friendly service with a smile. It was about $20 for lunch and I had left overs.

    Coffee and food

I was there just now with my friends, we started with coffee and a nice breakfast. As an artist, I kinda liked the fact that they have an art exhibition going on just now, the art was amazing, bravo! Me and my friends decided to go upstairs to talk and, I was working on a small canvas. A lady came out of nowhere and ASSUMED we were not customers? She said "excuse me this place is only for customers" what an absolute dumb thing to say, without verifying first with the staff first. No mam we just go and sit down in random places, because we got nothing better to do? Some people have no people's skills, no customer service skills whatsoever. That was totally out of place and offensive to who we are. I will never go back again, ever! So the owner answered and I was not able to reply. -Owners disgusting answer: " The person you spoke to is the owner - and all she did was ask you if you had ordered anything ... all the rest of the drama is unnecessary. And yes FYI we have people sitting at the lounge without ordering anything - just a reminder - this is a private business - we can ask people who sit in our space if they had ordered something - this is not a public lounge" My reply to this owner, this disgusting human being: I do not appreciate your response, i strongly disagree with your version of the events. The table next to us heard you and my friends too, everybody. What you're saying is simply not true. You approached us and did not just ask whether we had ordered something, you told us that the lounge was reserved for customers, implying that we did not belong there. This was said in a tone that was condescending and dismissive. You racist. We were there to eat, and we did order. We came to enjoy a meal and spend quality time together, not to "lounge," as you put it. Your response here only confirms the lack of customer service and professionalism we experienced during our visit. It's disappointing to see a business owner dismiss valid concerns as "drama" rather than taking accountability. You can try to frame it however you like, but the truth is that we were treated poorly. You may not see it, but your attitude and behavior came across as rude, prejudiced, and completely inappropriate for someone in hospitality. We are not creating drama, we are simply sharing our experience. Instead of gaslighting your customers, maybe take a moment to reflect on how your actions come across to others. You're just a disgusting human being.

If I wasn't one of the first 10 Yelp Elite reviewers I was going to be hurt! Lol I'm a fan of Gotan and was ecstatic hearing it was opening here. Stunningly huge! I did not realize there was this much space available on the residential building - they truly chose a great cafe and designed it beautifully. I love the co-working, yet sahm, yet family vibe at this location - really speaks to Hoboken. Most of us were working but the children with their parents or families brought nice warmness. I was sad I found a comfy spot upstairs but was told by the server I couldn't eat up there so went to the bar downstairs which was a nice vibe...children are also not allowed upstairs. I like the latter part for creating a quiet area for working adults who aren't so fond of children while working but the food part didn't make sense. Anyway, the menu here is nice and the Wi-Fi and outlets are there. Despite the pesto toast they provided with the tomato soup being gross and very hard, the soup itself was good and filling all on its own. Go, enjoy!

This place just opened up yesterday and it so far seems to be well received by the locals of Hoboken. Let me tell you something this is one of the cleanest and sleekest looking places in Hoboken and it's up there with places in NYC. Think of it as an industrial chic asthetic ambiance Huge sitting areas both downstairs and upstairs with lots of natural light coming in. There is plenty of sitting areas for laptops downstairs - however upstairs it's just big comfortable couches to lounge on. No laptop spaces upstairs There also looks to be plans for dinner as well but the signs say they aren't started serving during dinner yet (maybe in a few weeks they'll start serving dinner since they're so new) I only had coffee/latter but they serve quite a bit of food here. The cashier and barista were also awsome too. Good service I think Certainly would come again.

    Natalie K.

Great addition to this area of Hoboken! Plenty of seating and space and a good mix/array of food and drink options - we shared the Mediterranean Chicken sandwich and it was v tasty, would recommend! Can see this becoming a hot spot as parents wait around for kids to wrap up in the Monroe Center or if it's a rainy day out.. will be back to try out more items off their menu!

Great sandwich. Everyone is very nice. Darren K aka "Customer 1".

There was only one other family dining, and the space stayed empty the entire time. The service was genuinely great. Friendly staff, welcoming atmosphere, and a really cute, cozy space. I especially loved the Christmas décor and overall vibe--it felt warm and inviting. Unfortunately, the food didn't quite live up to the prices. The house salad was $13 and honestly one of the most basic, smallest, and most boring salads I've ever had--very underwhelming for the cost. We also ordered quesadillas, a cheeseburger with fries, and grilled cheese with tomato soup. My son enjoyed the burger and fries, and the quesadillas were flavorful, generously filled with chicken and veggies, and came with sour cream, pico, and guac. The tomato soup was tasty, while the grilled cheese was just okay. One small but appreciated detail: canned soda. Cold, crisp, and not flat which is always a win. Lunch for 3 came in just under $100, which felt high given what we received. One frustration was being seated in a tight corner right next to the kitchen even though the dining room was completely empty. We were so close I could literally see into the kitchen and count items on the shelves. On top of that, the hostess repeatedly walked by calling out "corner," which became distracting and honestly a bit irritating. Overall, I liked the vibe, but the food-to-price ratio missed the mark for me. It wasn't bad--just alright.
