Dog bite after a day or 2
    BathroomMogu L.

I will admit I am the fool who signed up for this program but please let my mistake be a lesson for you all. It is clear from the beginning with GotSit that it is simply about your $$ to them. Starting with their "Free consolation" which is basically just a pushy sales pitch where they don't even meet your dog and have you sign a contract that removes any liability from themselves and explicitly states that they guarantee absolutely no improvement from your dog. The training is a joke and simply "use an e collar to zap your dog"... okay "what if she is having a hard time with meeting people and jumping on visitors? "use the e collar", okay what if I am having trouble leaving her at home? "hmm have you tried zapping her with the e collar?". You would be better off just watching YT videos at home and staying far away from the e collar. My dog visibly flinches from the e-collar even at the lowest level that the owner and trainers swear is like a "mouse tapping her on the shoulder". IT IS AN AVERSIVE TOOL that is not necessary for training in any capacity. The cherry on top is that in my 5th session, after my dog had made it clear she was scared of the trainers dog and was not reacting well (even me who is not a trained dog handler could tell and told the trainer I was scared), the trainer had her meet his dog while my dog was on leash and his wasn't and my dog ended up getting a bite out of her head (see attached picture) and a big ol' kick to the head from the trainer. Now she is back to square zero and is even more fearful around other dogs and people. Thanks GotSit.

So I've been involved with this company for the last 18 months and I have a lot of mixed feelings about it. I've put two dogs into the program. One with high success, one not so great. The one on ones were great but almost all of the one on ones with a certain trainer were always late by at least fifteen minutes. (I'm not mention names on the negative things I'm not here to bash a person by name.) working 60 hour work weeks I can't just be late to work and I mentioned this concern when signing up dog #2 at group class. Dog one is a very friendly dog that this place did a great job teaching me to teach him. Dog two is more reactive and I really feel we just didn't get what we like out the program. When it came to the reactive dog, the training just wasn't enough. I told two different trainers at group about the issues and they both knew I was spending two hours a day minimum trying to meet his needs. They both told me they would give me additional one on ones but this was an empty promise. Another empty promise was I was told there was a referral program and I got two others in the program. I got nothing in return. In total, I'm just under $3000 with Got Sit. While I'm grateful for the little help they've done for me, I end my terms with them very uneasy.

    Wilbur sitting in TSA line!

I could not recommend Got Sit enough. Especially AJ and Jeff whom I worked with. Wilbur is a 1.5 year old puppy who is the friendliest dog around, but was unable to control his excitement around people and other dogs. Wilbur would pull on his leash in all sorts of directions, bark up a storm whenever he would see another dog on our walks, and would never sit still. This made walking him outside a very unpleasant experience - which is the exact opposite of what you would want taking your dog on a nice walk! His house manners also left a lot to be desired - non-stop barking at the TV, frequent misbehaviors getting into things he shouldn't. --- However, as soon as we started working with AJ and Jeff, everything changed! Not only do AJ and Jeff provide specific exercises and routines to perform with Wilbur to get his behavior under control, but they also help me understand WHY Wilbur would behave the way he does. To me, this is extremely helpful as it helps me understand what Wilbur's needs are and how I am not meeting them (and hence why he is acting out). This way, I can find ways to let Wilbur continue be his happy, excited, and overly playful self while also being a well behaved boy when needed! After just a few weeks of training with AJ and Jeff, I noticed a dramatic change in Wilbur's behavior. Our walks became far more pleasant: He would walk right next to me with a loose leash, he would spare no more than a glance at other dogs as we walk by, and he would listen to me at every corner. I truly feel as if my relationship with Wilbur has changed for the better. It's as if we "understand" each other!! As I told Jeff after our final 1:1 class, my "final exam" for Wilbur would be his behavior in the airport for our upcoming trip. As I mentioned before, Wilbur would not do well in places with lots of people and dogs. It was so bad that whenever I traveled with Wilbur, I would have to carry him through the whole airport while hiding my embarrassment of his constant barking. After the training, not only was I able to walk Wilbur through the airport, but he did so with such incredible manners! Sitting in the TSA line (I added a picture of him sitting so nicely in line!), not barking at other dogs, and sitting next to me while we waited for our flight. I even got compliments at how well-behaved he was. Of course, I mentioned Got Sit to everyone that complimented him. If you are on the fence about Got Sit, then hopefully my success story has persuaded you to at least give their free in-home consultation a try! Thank you AJ and Jeff! Wilbur and I could not be happier and we are looking forward to group classes!

Neck infection due to the training collar
    Gorka M.

Long story short: save your money (over $1,300) and don't hire these people. Training might be good if everything goes smoothly - and I want to start by thanking our trainer (Hunter) for his work, dedication, and manners. But if problems arise, big bully Marvin with his disrespect and awful service will make it impossible to work it out, as the worst business owner I've ever seen. Let's dive into the awful journey with Marvin and his con way to do business. Our training was going well, up until my puppy Mamba got a skin infection on his neck due to the training collar (things happen), right before moving to the group classes. In all fairness, and before Marvin tries to use it to dismiss my complaint, we even had a 6th individual class (because two of the previous sessions were about half of the scheduled time, I asked about it, and they granted it). Before he tries to use this too, I followed instructions with the collar and removed it more often and longer than the "1 hour, twice a day" recommended. So I reached out when the infection was diagnosed, and 3 weeks later when he was cleared off. Both times Marvin said he'll call me to talk about it. Never happened, though. My vet told me not to use the training collar again, so I wanted to discuss options. After 5 weeks total without hearing back from them, I reached out again, asking for a refund. In my attempt to being respectful, since normally I just found time late at night and during weekends, I was texting them and trying to set up times for a call. That's when Marvin, with the manners of a frustrated real estate agent or car dealer, picked up the phone to give me training tips (great timing, over a month later) and then moved on to yell at me and disrespect me when I told him the same thing I said on my text: I only want to discuss a refund, even if partial as we had completed the individual part of the program. After having the business owner not caring about his collar giving my dog an infection, I thought that was fair, right? Mr. Marvin BIG BULLY Versteeg didn't think so. Bringing some of Marvin's greatest hits in that phone call here, as a display of his business ownership skills: - Customer service: with gems such as "you don't know how to dial or what" and "I've never given a refund, and I'm not giving you one" made it very clear that after getting your check (he's really fast for that) you're on your own. - Lying and disrespecting: according to him and his alleged "notes", he had called me every time, and we even had a 30 min chat. None of that was true. In good faith, I assumed he had me mistaken for somebody else, and I told him that. He went on to call me a liar on that, repeatedly. Fortunately, my carrier's records (much more reliable than Marvin's notes) prove I'm right. - Dispute resolution: the cherry on top was Marvin's cowardly throwing a tantrum as a farewell, showing once again his hot-headedness. While I was trying to talk to him, he hung up on me, didn't pick up the phone when I called him back and texted me saying he wouldn't talk to "you or anyone else who just wants to be slanderous". He never apologized either, at any point, being that the first thing that should have came out of his mouth for several reasons. I hope this helps other people, not only to save money and avoid being robbed by Marvin in the future, but also to ditch an opportunity to be disrespected by a bully salesman who doesn't care about his customers. During one of our sessions with AJ!

Our dog is a French Bulldog and we were glad we went with Got Sit Dog Training! Frenchie's can be stubborn and our guy struggled with pulling a ton on walks and resource guarding. He is also SO friendly (which we love) but on walks he was relentless to say hi to every person/dog we saw, and we weren't in control. After this training he is so much better at staying close, checking in with us, and coming when we call him. He's happier at home, trusts us, and in general is just better behaved! We worked primarily with AJ and Chelsea for our trainings and had a great experience. AJ was phenomenal and was very positive, great with our pup, and helpful in giving us clarity in how to move forward. If you can work with AJ I think you'll be in the best spot. Chelsea was also great, we just had a few less trainings with her but she was also positive, calm, and good with our pup. There was a slight difference in the instructions they gave, but asking questions of them helped us sort through what was best for what we do with our dog and comfortable for us. My only critique would be for the trainers to be a bit more compassionate to dog parent concerns and breed specifics. I understand they work with all dogs and have a technique they believe in, but in our case Frenchie's are a high maintenance breed with health concerns and unique needs. Which I didn't feel was acknowledged or given a ton of space for. I would say that if you have a breed of dog that requires certain adaptations, be ready to advocate hard for that or be flexible to let go of some of your preferences to try out their technique. In the end we were so happy we did this, and our Frenchie is happy too!

I have a wonderful hound dog named penny. She is a puppy full of energy. She was very stubborn and wouldn't listen. She was constantly doing bad dog stuff chewing, digging, and Being very destructive to my home. She was also very difficult to have around other pets and people. So I called Got sit. Well I'm happy to report that the wonderful trainers at got sit got my furry friends behavior in check. They explained what was going on in her mind and Taught me and my family techniques on how to properly communicate with her and show her how to be a wonderful member of our family.. she is doing awesome and her behavior has improved so much.

So if I wasn't a client you're telling me that's not AJ walking his dog and my dog together?

If you have an aggressive dog this is not the place for you, so save your 1200 dollars for Marvin is a great salesman and makes you believe he can help you and that's not the case they pretty much take your money give you 5 in home lessons and want group classes which teaches an aggressive dog nothing. Now if you have a dog that you need to teach how to sit and stay this maybe the place for you. They give you 5 in home lessons which my dog already knew how to do sit and stay it was his aggression that needed work and this place just isn't cut out for that kind of training they rather zap your dog into shape and group classes instead of working directly with the dog and training you how to handle your dog. So I ponied up more money to hire the right trainer and my dog is doing amazing no thanks to Got Sit. Save your money their is better trainers out there and if you need to know one just ask. Rip off wish I had my money back. RESPONSE TO MARVIN SAYING I WASN'T A CLIENT: Actually Marvin I have the check that I wrote to you as proof I was a client. You were even scared of my dog. Do your thing bro and train those little non aggressive puppies but quit stealing from people you know you can't train their dog because your skill set is weak as a trainer. I'll dig up the check and post it for ya better yet check out the photo I took of your weak trainer you sent out his name is AJ. You're nothing more than a used car salesman and that's an insult to used car salesman. Hunter is his name 5 in home classes I realized after 2 you guys were terrible. See picture to remember.. So yes I was a client. check photo!

On a ferry, perfect behavior with loud noises, birds, other dogs barking... Who could ask for more???

We reached out to Connie because we were thinking of getting a second dog and wanted to get a "tune up" for Winston before we made that decision. The process to set up the initial meeting was thorough - we filled out an initial form, we talked with someone on the phone and we were provided with material to read before we ever met Connie. We appreciated the documentation as it set reasonable expectations about the process. When Connie came to the house, the first thing she did was ask us about our goals for the training. She's a great listener and really took the time to investigate our situation and ensure she truly understood the issues that we were having. Once she had gotten our story, she explained the root cause of the issues with Winston and educated us on how to better communicate with our dog. There was a lot of useful BarkBusters material that she shared that was specifically relevant to the problems we were having. Once we got past the theory, we did a few different exercises with Winston to put the ideas into practice. We saw an immediate impact with Winston after the first session. We felt more confident once we were equipped with the knowledge and skills to handle the problematic situations. We followed up on the homework that Connie shared and the results only continued to improve in the weeks following our initial visit. When she met us for the second time, she was surprised with how well Winston had responded to training and provided some small feedback about how we can continue to improve. We are over the moon with how much improvement we've seen with Winston and are so happy we worked with Connie! With the lifetime guarantee, we know we can reach out in the future if Winston develops other issues. Working with Connie was worth every penny and we highly recommend that others reach out if they're looking to improve their dog's behavior!

We swore to no more dogs but then we saw Mia, a 9-month-old, Doberman puppy found on the street in LA by animal control. Her leg was degloved, necrotic and filled with maggots. She was intercepted by a rehab, received amputation and much needed medical attention. We followed her story for a couple months, hoping she would find a home, but she didn't. Somehow, we caved, did the unthinkable and flew to Los Angeles, scooping her up and driving her back to Washington in a rental car mid-winter. She was terrified, ferrell and full of dominant "spicy" energy so we booked an appointment with one of the top positive-treat-based trainers with reactive-dog expertise in the state, to help us introduce our dogs upon return and it was a disaster. Our senior exploded in pure terror, barking and lunging. She tossed treats; they ignored her. Twenty minutes in she shrugged, said she had "no magic wand," sent us home and refunded half our session. 2 days later she emailed us suggesting we rehome Mia to a foster "for our safety" which felt like a slap in the face. The very next day we thoroughly researched every trainer in Washington, and Nitro K-9 stood head and shoulders above the rest. I emailed Steve and he called back within minutes with genuine understanding, zero judgment, got us in within days and made our 2-hour commute in separate cars well worth it. In the first ten minutes Steve had both dogs calmly obeying, walking together on leash, and listening! He instantly saw what the other trainer missed: our senior was fear-reactive, meaning he was scared. Steve and North have taught us clear communication and connection with our dogs. They've taught us how to properly command quick correction and full attention using high-quality prong collars, like a mother dog's natural nips. No pain, no fear, no endless treats or bribes, just genuine praise, affection, and connection, the way real bonds and parenting work. He showed us how to step into calm leadership so our dogs could relax, trust, and stop carrying the burden themselves. He stayed by our side through every panicked text, every "what now?" and our dog's transformation is nothing short of miraculous. Mia is happy, confident and loves her big brother now. Our senior knows his role and is playing with her like a puppy again. They love each other and actually enjoy being together! If you're a reactive, rescue, fearful or high-drive dog parent, have been let down by "treat-motivated training" and have avoided prong collars because of the myths, you have been misinformed like we were. Don't give up, stop scrolling and call Nitro, I promise you won't regret it! IWe are forever grateful!

Steve and his team saved my dog and I. This is not an exaggeration. I got my cattle dog from a…read morereputable breeder, did the research. I spoke to other cattle dog owners and felt comfortable that this was the breed for me. I had a German Shorthair Pointer before getting Syd and was familiar with dogs that had a high drive. Training Annie (my former GSP) was a cake walk. She was so smart and I made sure she got her exercise(never needed any lures for her obedience*). 3 years after my dog past is when I brought home Sydney (cattle dog) at 8 weeks, she was a smart beautiful puppy and showed so much promise. I started her with puppy training at 12 weeks at a positive reinforcement style training "school". She did great with it at first but over time the novelty of snacks and toys wore off. I wasn't getting answers when at 6 months she became and absolute terror. I was being told that it must be something I was doing wrong, try this "game", avoid this type of contact/activity, exercise her more, more, more! Syd was getting daily walks plus an insane amount of fetch sessions(at times 12 a day), all the toys in the world, all the puzzles and mental stimulation toys/activities, nothing was working and her reactivty was tearing apart out home life. Looking back I can't believe I didn't see it earlier. You mean, stuffing old toilet paper rolls with treats before wrapping them in beach towels then shoving it in box for her to destroy into her own personal one dog confetti party wasn't the magic key to ending her reactivty/anxiety? Weird! It wasn't just her/me that suffered, my boyfriend's dogs were walking in eggshells around her and that was heartbreaking to witness. I was crying on a regular basis knowing I was failing my dog and I was no closer to figuring out how to help my dog. My vet had me put her on meds which didn't seem to do anything but make her sleepy, completely avoiding the problem. I tried another trainer and had them come by the house once a week. The positive reinforcement did not cut it. I was soon approaching the possibility of having to re home my dog. Something I didn't think I could EVER or would EVER consider but I was so far over my head. That's when I found Steve and his amazing team. It was my last ditch effort before finding a new home for Syd. From the reviews and webpage alone I knew this was a no BS route. Unfiltered and not for the faint of heart. At this point I would do anything if it meant keeping my dog. One session with Steve was all it took to understand that this could actually freaking work and I was elated! One of the first thing Steve had us do was get Syd off the meds. I was so happy to do that because it always felt like the lazy answer to a reactive/anxious dog problem. Over time and with hard work, Sydney has come further than I would have ever thought possible. With my voice alone I can have my dog stop mid full force fun for her ball(her favorite thing) and have her come back to me. I trust her and she trust me. She (like most cattle dogs) couldn't give an F less about engaging with any dogs/people outside of her circle, but gone are the days of lunging and barking at anyone who came near. She's no longer wearing a muzzle on a regular basis for vet visits/grooming/etc. Not only did Steve get her mind right, but her body as well. He guided me through the transition to raw food for Sydney. 3 months in and we've noticed a huge difference. She's starting to slim down and her coat is legitimately glistening. The difference in her bowel movements is night and day. I can feel better knowing that she feels better. She's eating real food and will have a healthy life to show for it. Steves passion and love for dogs is evident. You're not wasting your money here and I know that was a fear for me after failed attempts at training elsewhere. Steve empowers YOU through the mantra of "heeling heals" and it truly does. I am beyond grateful and thankful for Steve and his team. Proud to be another Nitro K9 success story.
