After completing some forms, we were fitted with shorty wet suits, BCs and the yoke with the hoses for the regulators, BC attachment and air pressure gauge. Zach instructed us review all the equipment as if were at a renting scuba shop, and I found that my regulator's mouth fitting was damaged, and he immediately replaced it. First Zach helped us remember how to set up our gear, while adding many useful suggestions and knowledge to the session. Once we assembled our tanks and BCs with his guidance, he made us do it all again, but by ourselves, only saying something if we were doing something incorrectly. After this, he packed all our gear and we went to a YMCA nearby to do the actual diving refresher. The equipment worked well. He had practice 25 (might have been 28) skills for recertification. He is a very good instructor, meeting each person where they are at and helping with their needs. All the time he kept emphasizing important points and talking about what to expect at our dive shop because of his knowledge of similar places. When we were done, Zach packed everything and we left. He is a very affable, pleasant, and professional young man who knows his subject matter very well. The owners of the shop are also very nice, we had an opportunity to talk to them as well. I bought a mask, which the lady owner had me try several sizes and qualities and helped me decide on one that was very comfortable and very reasonably priced. I give the whole operation, but especially Zach, 5 stars. My friends agreed with this rating. I will be going back there for my diving needs.

They went over the gear with me and made sure it fit properly, and it was all in pretty good condition. My instructor's name was Jeff. He was very nice and even let me dive even though the first day I came two hours late because my alarm clock died. I had already come to terms with how screwed I was and didn't expect to be able to get certified before I left on my trip, but when I called the dive shop to see if there was any way I could still dive, they called Jeff to let him know I was coming late and he fit me in before his next group! My only gripe is that they're a little far out of the way (I live in Chicago), but I took Ogden straight there and it wasn't too bad, maybe 25 minutes each way.

The attention that he has to safety is absolutely incredible. His focus on our wellbeing while showing us the skills we needed was a wonderful experience. If we did anything wrong he corrected us with an outstanding amount of patience, and told us the reasons why. He stays calm even when you're not, reassuring you that he's got your back. I had plenty of options to select the right size wetsuit, and BCD from the rental gear. Their store also has amazing gear that I can't wait to buy. Dale went over features to look out for in our gear, so I'm looking forward to making my first kit purchase with Underwater Safaris. I purchased some gear prior to completing my class online and I regret that. The mask I bought online from a different store did not fit comfortably so it is absolutely recommended that you go into the shop and let them help you fit gear so you're not wasting money in the long run. Be mindful, if you want to purchase your own gear for classes, plan days ahead. I believe we got a great value in our training so far, most importantly because I felt safe. We also learned skills that we are going to be able to use for the rest of our life. Can't wait for the 4 quarry dives with Dale!

What a fantastic adventure!…read more I was invited through Yelp to check out a free scuba diving experience developed by learn scuba Chicago. I came late and was honestly going to take pictures, but the volunteer instructors were extremely accommodating and even provided a suit and flippers to wear. This was such a fantastic journey and experience. I have never scuba-dived before, but the instructors were super knowledgeable and patient with me throughout the learning experience, from learning hand signals to what each piece of equipment does to simply how to breathe. Let me tell you that breathing underwater was the most challenging. I will say I felt very cared for by my instructor. She never pressured me too hard when I didn't get something the first time, but she demonstrated well and allowed me to take my time to get used to the process. Once we felt ready, getting into the deep was so much fun. There were weights and underwater toys for us to play with, all provided by Learn Scuba. Overall a lifetime epic experience I would love to try again. I highly recommend everyone try scuba at least once. Easy 5 out of 5

Before attending, make sure you watch the intro video- it's super informative and saves tons of time when you get there so all your time can be spent in the water vs going over all the information. Bob and his team were so incredibly helpful, welcoming, and were great coaches for those of us who had never Scuba-d before. We got into the UIC pool with wet suits and all our gear, went through a quick orientation with Bob underwater, then spent the rest of the time swimming around the pool. Scuba diving in a pool doesn't seem that exciting at first, but trust me, it is way more fun than you'd expect. Everyone who helped us was so helpful and nice, and they really made the experience amazing. What an incredible organization led by a great person. Will absolutely be back to get certified some day!!

I searched for hours looking for the right place to charter a boat that was big enough for my group of 15-20. Everything I found only held up to 10 people or held 50 or more, and they required that you purchase food and drink packages from them. Bob allowed us to bring all our own food and drinks so on top of being one of the most reasonably priced boats, we saved money on food and drinks too. Captain Bob was ridiculously accommodating for our group. He knew that traffic would be terrible because of the weekend we had our adventure so he offered to pick up our booze from Binny's that morning so we didn't' have to carry it down to the boat. He also went and got us cups since we forgot them. All in all, it was amazing and you should go visit!

Her enthusiastic and friendly demeanor 2. Her extensive knowledge about bikes and the fact she shared this with me willingly & effortlessly. 3. As soon as I approached her, she stopped what she was doing and listened to my concerns, answered all of my questions and immediately made me a priority. I can't tell you how relieved I was to run into Sammi after my experience here the day before. I was sure the outcome of my return visit would be the same. Over the course of the summer, I've stopped at this store numerous times to look into replacing my bike and try some out but the problem was they didn't have many put together. So, I came back again and again in the hopes they would have a better selection of the type I was looking for. Yes, I went to other locations also and ran into the same issue. On virtually every visit, there was no one around. I had to go to another dept., find someone and was told either no one was available or left for the day and the associate who was available had no knowledge of bikes. Way to waste my time.. I came back on Labor day and again there was no one around. Found a young guy who very dismissively tells me "I know nothing about bikes and the guy that was here left for the day and we're understaffed, so you might want to go to Woodfield or Oakbrook." Really?? This kid could care less about helping customers and his attitude royally sucked. I ended up spotting 2 bikes, took them down and got a feel for it. The one bike I tried had handlebars that were completely off center. At this point, I decided to order the bike online. It was the right bike at the right price. Came back to pick up my bike a few days later and Sammi was in the bike dept. Boy was I happy to see her! She assured me she inspects all bikes that go out and noticed the handlebar issue on the one I was interested in. It was fixed. This girl is a keeper. I hope your reading this Dick's because unlike the associates I have run into at your store, this was the ONLY girl who truly helped me with my purchase. She takes pride in her job and it shows. Your team could learn a few things from her. I can honestly say I despise each Dick's location I've been to and have had nothing but horrible (or no) customer service. I feel like there's a monopoly on big chain sporting goods stores. There just aren't many around anymore. Sure I could go to Trek, but I'm not worthy of $1k+ bike just yet...Local bike shops are great, but also more than I wanted to spend. Bottom line - if you're looking for a bike, come here when Sammi is working or don't come here at all.
